Inside the main hall, Kuro heard Tsuru's words and asked in surprise, "Not retreating? The higher-ups agreed?"
There was silence on the other end of the Den Den Mushi, which made Kuro understand.
"Hiss... Is Marshal Sakazuki really this tough?"
If he does this, the world government will probably have a lot of complaints about him.
Crane smiled, his voice carrying a hint of helplessness mixed with relief: "Our navy's duty is to fight pirates; other matters are none of our concern."
"Well, since the higher-ups have made such a big decision, I guess I have no choice but to get to work. I was originally planning to come back and stay for a while, but now I have to go back to running around again."
“That’s right… Do your job well, the future of the Navy still rests on your shoulders,” Tsuru said with a smile.
"That credit goes to us young people, not me. Don't deny the contributions of the naval soldiers, Grandma Tsuru."
Kuro smiled, exchanged a few more pleasantries with Tsuru, then hung up the phone and dialed again. After a few rings, the call was answered.
"Mr. Kuro?"
The Den Den Mushi had transformed into the likeness of Kro, and there seemed to be beads of sweat on its face, as if it were somewhat nervous.
"What are you doing?" Kuro asked.
"Um... I'm discussing the current situation with Cass and the others," the person on the other end of the Den Den Mushi said after a moment's thought.
"Situation? There's nothing to discuss. We got a call from above. No retreat. You guys make preparations, rest for a few days, and then continue your journey. I'm not moving. Find out about Teach and the Straw Hats, then contact me. Until then, the rest of the pirates are your responsibility. Do your best to wipe them out."
"Yes, I understand, Mr. Kuro."
"Alright, go do it yourself." Kuro hung up the phone.
Inside the meeting room.
As Kuro listened to the busy tone of the Den Den Mushi, he looked at everyone with a hint of excitement in his eyes. "Good, we have received definite information that the Navy will not retreat!"
"Then there's something to say about this."
Kuzan thought for a moment and said, "Sakazuki isn't going to retreat? That's in line with his personality, but if that's the case, the World Government will have to take the pressure off us. We'll be much more relaxed because the CP organization will most likely be mobilized, and our intelligence capabilities in the New World will be greatly weakened."
"Will it turn out like this?" Cass asked, somewhat excitedly.
Kuzan nodded: "Pretty much, because next year is another world conference, and the world government can't just sit idly by at this critical juncture; they definitely have to take action."
"That's good."
Wilbur thought to himself, “Without intelligence, we can do a lot in the New World.”
"The original plan remains unchanged, but it will be much easier."
"Mr. Kuro isn't going out for the time being, so we can do a lot of things now, and we can also get David to take action," said Kuro.
The World Government is less concerned with its member states and more concerned with their core interests. If the New World is not taken into account, then David will act according to their plan. Since the war in the New World cannot protect them, they can easily take matters into their own hands.
However, since Marshal Sakazuki and his men are not retreating, then let Jhin and his men put in a greater effort and take over the rear area of the New World.
With Kidd and Law dead, the territory is now empty, and pirates will definitely be fighting each other. Although they are also fighting against the Navy, there are bound to be those who take advantage of the chaos, and King and his crew could do the same.
If things continue like this, they could easily take over the rear, and might even force out Straw Hat and Blackbeard.
“Let’s do it this way.” Chloe’s glasses gleamed as he uttered words that sent a chill down one’s spine. “Our business is progressing steadily!”
The others were either excited or smiling, but all had hope in their eyes.
Needless to say, Cass and Wilbur, as Mr. Kuro's most devout 'believers' and role models, have long since developed the idea that whatever Mr. Kuro says is right, and they can always find reasons and beliefs to support it. Now, as vice admirals in the Navy, they wield considerable power.
If he were at headquarters, he might have gained even greater influence. Even if he had to humble himself in Dressrosa for the greater good, he still commands respect from many within the Navy.
Because he was truly exceptional to his subordinates.
Mr. Kuro is the kind of person who is coy and reserved. He may not say it out loud, and he might even swear, but he will still do his best to protect his own. He belongs to the tsundere type.
But Cass is different; he not only does it, he also talks about it beautifully.
The Marineford War clearly demonstrated that this bearded man is a master at instigating conflict.
Later, the revolutionary army treated them as a major enemy.
Wilbur was much the same, always following Mr. Kuro's words and striving to uphold and practice Mr. Kuro's ideals.
Who says the Navy has no dreams? The Navy's dreams are far bigger than those of pirates.
Kuzan seems a bit lazy, with a hint of observation, somewhat like Mr. Kuro, but he is also quite decisive when it comes to getting things done.
People have joined their little group, and regardless of their motives, they're still doing things for a common goal, which is a good thing.
The rest of the people, whether kings or pirates, were basically on the same side.
Now that the war has unfolded, the World Government's intelligence capabilities would be far more convenient if they weren't in the New World.
It won't be long before they can double the current situation...
Things went much as Crowe had expected.
After the meeting adjourned, they reorganized, and apart from Kuzan who remained in Wano Country, the rest of the Navy was mobilized. Even Lida couldn't escape; they sailed out to wipe out the pirates in the vicinity.
