Chapter 10: Midnight End

No one in the room dared to breathe, and they all looked towards the window.

Zheng Yuanyuan was so scared she wanted to cry, but with so many children around, she bit her lip tightly and held it back. The eight children, like human pendants, clung heavily to her neck and arms, burrowing into her arms. She could only remain still and calm.

Du Rui was a little hesitant. He was afraid that once he opened the curtain, he would see the monster with bulging eyes and a mouth that had turned into a mouthpart lying on the window, and it was still alive.

But there was not even an adult male in the room, so no matter how scared he was, he had no choice but to go to the window.

At this moment, Zhao Yize's sharp ears recognized that this was not Qi Fan's voice, and he immediately sobbed softly: "That person is imitating Teacher Qi's speech... Is Teacher Qi dead?"

"Impossible!" Zheng Yuanyuan shouted in a whisper. She was afraid that her words would come true, so she quickly asked Zhao Yize to spit three times.

Zhao Yizhe: "Pooh, pooh, pooh."

He had just finished spitting when the man knocked on the window again: "Since you don't want to talk, then I'll... go in? Gulp--" The ending sound of this thing was strange, as if it had swallowed a mouthful of saliva.

At the same time, the soft knocks on the window turned into loud bangs, bang bang bang! The glass and the wall were shaking, and it was so harsh that it felt like someone was knocking next to my ear!

Influenced by the sound, all the children began to scream and desperately struggled to get into Zheng Yuanyuan's arms. Zheng Yuanyuan's blood immediately rushed to her head, and she hurriedly called out to Du Rui, who was slowly moving towards the window: "Teacher Du! Don't go over there!"

Du Rui was on edge. Since he couldn't fight head-on in this situation, he had to seize the initiative, hide by the window and wait for the monster to rush in so that he could hit it hard. He would take care of every monster he could.

Bang—bang—bang! The slapping sounds were replaced by the sound of a body hitting something vigorously. It felt like this pitifully thin layer of glass would shatter in just a few hits.

The screams and the sound of banging on the windows woke up the two sleeping children. Di Yuntong sat up and burst into tears.

Du Rui paused, looked back, and didn't dare to leave the children alone there, so he quickly turned around and ran over, holding one in each hand and throwing them into the group of children.

Zheng Yuanyuan transformed herself into a hen and protected the ten cubs tightly.

Du Rui took a deep breath, strode to the window, and held the wooden stick tightly.

Bang!

This sound was like something hitting the glass with all its strength and exploding beside my ears.

However, after this sound, the sound of hitting the glass stopped abruptly. It did not sound again for one second... five seconds... ten seconds.

Du Rui glanced at Zheng Yuanyuan and the children who were huddled together, and mustered up the courage to carefully lift the curtain.

Just as I lifted a corner and hadn't seen it clearly, I heard a few clear and gentle laughs coming from outside the window: "Sorry, I went a little too far this time."

Qi fan? !

Du Rui was stunned for a moment, then he reacted and got angry. He pulled open the curtains and asked, "Fun..."

Before he could finish his words, his rising anger was instantly extinguished by the scene before him.

Qi Mi held the phone in his mouth, the light shining down on him, just enough to clearly illuminate the pale face of a female monster with bulging eyes and a mouthpart. She was holding a bloody fruit knife in her hand, grabbing the monster's legs with both hands and dragging it out the door.

Du Rui felt his head buzz. It turned out that the thing that just hit the window was really a monster?!

Qi Mi's eyebrows curved, and he stretched out his hand to make a gesture of silence.

Du Rui shuddered and came to his senses.

The few seconds they met seemed eternity to Zheng Yuanyuan, who had no idea what was going on. Seeing Du Rui standing silently by the window, she hurriedly whispered, "Is it... is it Teacher Qi?" Even though she was forcing herself to remain calm, her voice was trembling with tears.

Du Rui pretended to breathe a sigh of relief and turned around: "Yeah, it was Teacher Qi's prank."

After a few seconds of silence, Wang Xiaohu was the first to explode: "What?! Teacher Qi is so childish!"

"That's right! I was scared to death in the middle of the night!" Zhao Yize also agreed.

"If Teacher Qi acts this scary again next time, I won't like her anymore."

"Me too!"

The children exchanged glances, condemning Qi Mi's childish prank. Some even cried, feeling deceived. But after this farce, the youngest, Di Yuntong, stopped crying. Instead, he bit the ear of his stuffed bear and huddled obediently in Zheng Yuanyuan's arms.

Zheng Yuanyuan comforted the children and looked up. Du Rui was still standing motionless by the window.

Du Rui was worried about Qi Mi.

Just now, after he explained to the children that it was a prank, he turned around and saw the female monster break free from Qi Mi and stand up.

The monster hunched over, stretched and shortened its mouthparts, and launched an attack.

Qi Mi took a step forward to dodge.

The monster encountered this time was different from the one in the kindergarten corridor before. It was closer to a human form, with normal skin color and the ability to walk upright. If its head was chopped off, it would not be visible as a monster at all.

"Sister, you smell so good. Gurgle--" The voice was not loud, but Du Rui, who was standing by the window, heard it clearly.

This scene can be said to be a very vivid interpretation of the uncanny valley theory——

A non-human being who is very similar to humans can really make people feel their scalp tingling and chills all over their body.

The children in the room who were very good at hearing also heard this. Wang Xiaohu shouted out the window: "Ah, Teacher Qi! Stop scaring us! We know you are playing a prank! Really, aren't you childish at such a age?"

The sound passed through the glass and fell directly into Qi Mi's ears. She chuckled and knew it was the smoky voice of the naughty ghost.

After stepping back and dodging, she coughed and made a gesture of covering her ears to Du Rui who was standing by the glass.

Du Rui understood immediately. He turned and clapped his hands towards the children, attracting their attention. "Children, remember the game we played where we covered our ears and sang? Teacher Qi said that the best singer would receive a mysterious gift."

"Gift?!" The children's eyes lit up when they heard it. They immediately covered their ears and started singing incoherently.

For a moment, there were "Pleasant Goat, Beautiful Goat, Lazy Goat...", "I love you walking alone in the dark alley, I love the way you don't kneel..." and "La la la, la la la..." with unknown lyrics. Many children's voices were intertwined together, cute and noisy.

The monster chuckled a few times, causing its ugly mouthparts to stretch and retract. "Miss, you are so kind. Are you afraid that the children will hear your screams before you die? Gulu——Don't worry, I will give you a quick death, Gulu——"

Qi Mi stretched his neck, raised the corners of his lips, and didn't intend to waste time talking to her. He spun the fruit knife in his hand and rushed over.

She has to deal with this monster before the kids finish singing!

brush!

The mouthparts stretched out and swung towards him, and Qi Mi dodged to the side and grabbed it.

The monster's already bulging eyes were about to pop out, and it made a humming sound, but Qi Mi was quick. As soon as he grasped the mouthparts with one hand, the knife in the other hand fell accurately. With a puff, the severed mouthparts fell to the ground bloody, and the monster's screams pierced the sky.

Du Rui, standing by the window, frowned slightly. He didn't cover his ears, so he could hear and see everything clearly.

Qi Mi is really amazing, his movements are quick and neat, without any unnecessary movements, and every move seems to have been precisely calculated.

Before the monster's screams had even finished, it suddenly came to a screeching halt. Qi Mi, fearing the children would hear the screams, stabbed the monster's throat with the knife as soon as he had cut off its mouthparts.

Suddenly, it was quiet.

The monster fell to the ground, clutching his bleeding neck. His eyes were fixed on Qi Mi, and a muffled sound came from his throat: "Do you think... you can kill me... like this? Gulu——"

Qi Mi walked up to the monster and looked down at it: "Of course I know I can't kill you like this, it's still a little short, but -" She paused, the corners of her lips curled up even deeper, "I can see it clearly."

She raised her left hand, and when the two halves of the strange tattoo on her index and middle fingers were put together, they formed a mysterious eye pattern.

She only lightly tapped her left eyelid, murmured something in a low voice, and then opened her eyes.

The amber eye in the left eye was gone, replaced by an eye that emitted a bright blue light in the darkness.

Looking closely, the base of the eye is blue, with various illusory lines moving across it.

Qi Miwei raised his head, and his smile suddenly seemed ghostly and unpredictable at this moment.

She scanned the monster in front of her from top to bottom, and suddenly, her eyes fell on the monster's lower abdomen.

At the same time, the monster's expression changed, and a whimper came from his throat: "No...don't..."

"Don't worry, I will give you a quick death." Qi Mi imitated the monster's words, squatted down, raised the knife and pierced a spot on the left side of her lower abdomen.

Puff, as the blood splattered on her body, it finally added some warmth to her frozen skin.

Qi Mi wiped the blood off his face with his sleeve, and when he opened his eyes again, his left eye had returned to normal.

After about five seconds, the chaotic singing in the house gradually stopped.

Qi Mi killed a monster with the accompaniment of children's voices.

She looked back at the window and saw Du Rui still standing there stupidly. She smiled, pulled one of the monster's legs, and stuffed it into the nearest alley as if dragging some large garbage.

She walked for about ten minutes, and when she came back, she found Du Rui still standing there, his posture unchanged. Qi Mi was speechless, raised her phone and flashed it in his face. When she saw that he had come to his senses, she waved to him, signaling him to come out.

After a while, Du Rui came out with a wooden stick. Although his expression was calm, his panic was evident: "What's wrong?"

Qi Mi turned around and gestured towards the three fully stocked shopping carts parked on the other side of the street, and said with a smile, "Help me out."
