Chapter 31 Midnight End

The car was quiet, with only Qi Fan, who was driving, and the boy sitting in the back.

The two were far apart, yet in the same car, they seemed very close. Qi Mi would look up from time to time and see the boy sleeping by the window in the rearview mirror.

It was like he was sitting there on purpose, letting her monitor him.

At the next few stops, without exception, no passengers got on the bus.

The tour bus suddenly became a special car for her and the boy.

Qi Mi thought for a moment. If this boy was truly an enemy, a fight might not be so easy to deal with. To be on the safe side, he decided to check the boy's [Death Gate] before taking action.

So she tapped her eyelids lightly, summoning the bright blue "Dead Eye".

In the rearview mirror, the boy's handsome face was covered with lines of various colors, dividing it into several areas.

As if noticing something, the young man suddenly raised his head, his eyes, hidden by his bangs, fixed directly upon him. After a few seconds, he chuckled softly, then, as if to prove his innocence, he pulled out his phone and waved it, saying gently, "Don't worry, I'm just here to complete a mission."

The voice is soft and low, with a bit of laziness, and it is very pleasant to listen to.

Qi Mi glanced at him and said nothing.

After raising his hand to hide his dead gaze, he stepped on the accelerator to increase speed.

She didn't see the boy's [Death Gate].

You must never force yourself.

Rule 5: Although the journey takes approximately one hour and twenty-three minutes, the time is greatly shortened when there are no passengers getting on or off the bus. By the time we reach the last stop, Fengdu Avenue, it only takes one hour and six minutes.

After the car stopped, Qi Mi unbuckled his seat belt, stood up, and stared at the boy silently.

The boy seemed to have just woken up. He sat in his seat for a few seconds, looked out the window, then stood up and slowly walked to the car door.

Seeing the car door closed, he turned around.

Qi Fan pressed the button.

After a burst of pneumatic sounds, the car door opened and the boy walked out with his hands in his pockets.

The next moment, the barrier shattered, and cold wind poured in through the broken glass, making a whirring sound. The lights inside the car instantly went out, leaving only the pale headlights.

The platform license plate illuminated by the headlights disappeared, replaced by a wide open space in the field.

The bus should have driven out of the city and arrived at the junction of urban and rural areas.

Qi Mi came to his senses and was about to get out of the car to talk to the mysterious boy when suddenly a dazzling light flashed before his eyes.

The next second, she felt as if a knife was stabbed into her eyes, and it hurt so much.

She closed her eyes subconsciously.

My vision turned completely white and I had to immediately grab something nearby to support myself.

Qi Mi was on edge, gripping his sword tightly, fearing that something would attack him at this moment. He pricked up his ears and listened carefully to the movements around him.

After more than ten seconds, the whiteness in front of my eyes gradually dimmed and faded, and two streams of warm liquid flowed from my eyes. The feeling of unreality gradually dissipated.

This feeling was one she was all too familiar with, the pain of having new skills.

When she acquired the invention skill of [Turning Waste into Treasure], her hands felt as if they were burned and were in great pain. It was not until a layer of skin was peeled off from her hands that her body fully accepted this skill.

This time is the same, her two eyes are undergoing rebirth, first breaking down and then building up, the past must be broken into pieces before new life can be created.

Qi Mi stood there waiting for his body to accept this new skill. By the time the pain completely disappeared, more than ten minutes had passed.

She tried to open her eyes and saw the gray carriage floor, the yellow steps on the side of the carriage, the sky blue door, and further ahead, a wilderness.

Large areas of dark brown soil were covered with blackish yellow vegetation, which were probably cabbages that rotted after being planted.

Looking out in the distance, at the end of a patch of rotting vegetation, there are a few rural self-built houses with blue bricks and red tiles. A few trees stand bare in front of the door, and the wind blows, stirring up the fallen leaves on the ground.

Qi Mi was stunned and looked at the mobile phone placed in front of the car.

In the absence of any lighting, she could actually see so far and so clearly.

Is it possible to have night vision?

Perhaps to confirm her guess, Qi Mi felt a little dazzled when she looked at the headlights again, and only felt much better after turning off the lights.

At the same time, a prompt sound rang in my ears, indicating that my body had acquired new skills.

Dark matter accidentally infected your eyes. Congratulations, you have gained the [Night Vision] skill.

[Skill Description: You can see freely in the dark.]

【Note: Exposure to strong light may damage your eyesight. 】

Qi Mi sat back in his seat, closed his eyes and rubbed them.

After feeling better, she went to the fields and pulled out the rotten, smelly vegetables and threw them into the car. Besides cabbage, there were also a lot of potatoes, eggplants, and carrots.

After filling the aisle with these things, she brushed the mud off her hands, got into the car, closed the door, reversed, turned a corner, and drove towards the city.

After driving for about half an hour, Qi Mi saw Eva carrying a big knife near the fat monster's corpse.

Qi Mi turned on the car lights and honked the horn twice.

Eva jumped in surprise and quickly raised her hand to block the glare. After her eyes adjusted and she saw that it was Qi Mi, she excitedly walked over and said, "Wow, cool! You really found a great bus!"

Qi Mi opened the car door and looked puzzled: "Why are you here?"

"I heard there's a dark matter barrier here, and the system said there would be skill rewards, so I came to check it out." Eva shook her phone and got into the car. "But shortly after I got here, the system said the barrier was broken... No need to ask, Mi, it must have been you who did it, right? What skill did you gain?"

When Qi Mi heard that there was a mission, he immediately snatched Eva's phone and saw that there was indeed a green check mark at this location on the mission map.

There really is a mission...

Qi Mi handed the phone back and after realizing Eva's question, he replied, "Oh, you mean skills... I got the night vision skill, which will be convenient for fighting in the future."

"Wow, that's a sure win!" Eva exclaimed in surprise, pinching her nose. The smell inside the car was truly unpleasant. Turning around, she saw the "culprit" piled up in the aisle and immediately exclaimed, "What's this?! What do you want all this garbage for?!"

Qi Mi closed the car door and said, "Don't look at them as garbage now. You will have to rely on them to survive in the future."

“What?!”

Eva was stunned, then suddenly thought of the little idiot with plant control abilities and understood. She pinched her nose and snorted, "Then I shouldn't have come here. If I couldn't see this garbage, I could still eat it. Now that I see it, I have no choice but to force it down my throat."

At this point, she thought of something, and hesitantly walked over to Qi Mi, grabbed the handrail, and asked tentatively: "Mi, there is a question I need to tell you first, but I have to make it clear that it has nothing to do with me."

Qi Mi glanced at her and said, "Speak."

"That little idiot named Langyu jumped out the window and ran out after you. I didn't see him the whole way here..."

Before she could finish her words, Qi Mi stepped on the brakes. Fortunately, Eva held the handrail tightly and did not rush forward due to inertia.

"You said Langyu ran away?" Qi Mi stared at Eva in shock.

Eva shrank back and hummed softly.

Qi Fan: "You walked all the way here, and didn't see him?"

Eva shook her head.

Tsk.

Qi Fan couldn't help but worry. Although he had skills, little Langyu was still a child. What if something happened to him...

I can’t even imagine it.

"Look to the right, I'll look to the left. Look carefully and try again."

"Um."

Eva knew how important Xiao Langyu was, so she didn't dare to slack off at all. She leaned on the car door window and stared at him with her eyes wide open.

Ten minutes later, Qi Mi saw little Langyu curled up under a lush tree on the side of the road.

She quickly pulled the handbrake and jumped out of the car: "Why are you here?"

When he heard Qi's voice, little Langyu immediately stood up, opened his little hands and ran over: "Teacher Qi!"

Qi Mi squatted in front of him: "Are you okay? Are you hurt?"

Little Langyu shook his head, pouted pitifully, and put his little head on her shoulder like a spoiled child: "I'm sorry, Teacher Qi, I shouldn't have disobeyed you and ran out on my own."

"I'm glad you know. You can't do this next time, okay?" Seeing that the little guy took the initiative to admit his mistake, Qi Mi didn't say anything harsh and hugged him in his arms.

Eva looked up at the lush tree, which formed a sharp contrast with the bare, dead trees along the road. She couldn't help but think that this little idiot was quite clever, knowing how to create a landmark... But then she thought, something was wrong: "I took this road when I came here, why didn't I see you?"

Little Langyu tilted his head and blinked innocently: "I didn't see you either."

Eva wondered, "Maybe it was too dark, so I didn't notice it?"

Xiao Langyu nodded.

Eva shrugged: "Anyway, as long as you're okay."

The three returned to the car.

For safety reasons, Qi Mi helped Xiao Langyu fasten his seat belt before slowly driving away.

Eva felt the stench in the back was too bad, so she held onto the handrail and stood next to Qi Mi. Seeing how skillfully and steadily Qi Mi drove, she couldn't help but exclaim, "Mi, you're amazing! Not only can you ride a motorcycle, you can even drive a bus!"

Qi Mi stared straight ahead and replied calmly, "I can't. I haven't even learned to drive. I just raced through the barrier and nearly flipped into the ditch."

Eva was startled and clutched the armrest tightly: "Then how dare you open it?"

Qi Fan: "Because the cart I just pulled was full of ghosts, and I don't have to worry about hitting them to death."

"Then aren't you afraid of something happening to you?"

"Anyway, it's within the barrier, so it'll be fine."

"We are not in the barrier now!" Eva reminded.

"I know. Didn't you see I was driving very slowly?!" Qi Mi glanced at her speechlessly.

Just as she finished speaking, Eva watched Qi Mi drive over a skeleton on the side of the road. With a clatter, the bus swayed from side to side.

Almost fell into the ditch.

Eva: “…”

Eva looked back at little Langyu behind her and saw that his two little hands were tightly gripping the seat belt, with a serious and nervous expression. She instantly understood something, so she silently stepped back to the side of the seat and obediently fastened her seat belt.
