Chapter 8: Midnight End

Qi Mi thought about it, reminded the man to pay attention to his eyes, and then she put down the hand that was blocking the light.

In an instant, the entire bathroom was illuminated.

The man half-shielded his eyes with one hand and inched his other hand closer to the beam of light. This hand was only bone, with a thin layer of skin clinging to it, making it look like a mummy.

This man's bones were indeed very brittle. Qi Fan could even hear the crisp sound when the man's fingers touched the phone.

But the man seemed to have gotten used to it, his expression didn't change at all, he just kept touching the phone with his hand. The moment his fingers blocked the light, his fingertips were blessed with a rare redness. When he removed his fingertips, the light immediately illuminated the surroundings again.

Qi Mi watched him fiddling with the phone back and forth three times, then he put the phone away and stood up: "Sorry, I have something else to do, so I'll leave first." He didn't know what was going on at the kindergarten yet, so he couldn't waste time here anymore.

"Wait a minute." The man called her.

Qi Mi turned around: "What?"

Man: "I want to ask you for one last favor... Could you kill me and free me?"

From Qi Mi's perspective, the man only showed a bald head and a pair of tearful eyes.

The man must have meant every word he said: "I've had enough of this life... I'm already satisfied to see the light before I die. Kill me, let me die, okay?"

Qi Fan: "..."

Qi Mi looked at him, motionless.

More than ten seconds passed, and the man felt cold under her gaze: "What... happened?"

"Are you relieved? You left a life in my hands?" She chuckled, swung her phone and walked out of the bathroom, saying, "Besides, if you really wanted to die, you would have just waited obediently to be eaten by the mutant rat. Why threw the bowl at it? Since you haven't made up your mind, just live first. If you want to die, you can figure it out yourself!"

As soon as she finished speaking, she pushed the door open and walked out onto the street. She glanced back at the children's clothing store and memorized its name.

After walking a few steps, she suddenly stopped and moved the light to the roof on the left.

The black cat followed her quietly with light cat steps. Perhaps it did not expect to be discovered, and its body suddenly froze. It kept the posture of taking steps forward, but did not move.

The two red eyes shine as bright as rubies under the light.

"Follow me?" Qi Mi tilted his head.

The black cat retracted its front paws and lay down obediently: Meow~

A very sweet and soft cry.

A hint of surprise flashed in Qi Mi's eyes.

Unlike the mutant mice she had seen before, the size of this cat did not change, it was the size of a normal cat, but its eyes had turned a special red color, and it didn't seem to have any intention of attacking, it just kept following her.

But just because it doesn't attack now doesn't mean it doesn't have other bad intentions.

What if this cat mutated and grew a human brain, and was planning how to use her?

Qi Mi pulled out the knife, used a little force from his wrist, and swung it towards the black cat's head.

The black cat quickly ran away to dodge, and just as it was about to stop, the dagger was tied to a string this time, and the strike failed. Qi Mi pulled the knife back, took aim, and swung it again.

Black Cat: “!!!”

The black cat jumped off the roof in a hurry.

Qi Mi chased after it, holding the knife in his hand, which had missed twice, and tried to kill the cat in close combat. However, he found that the alley was empty and the cat had slipped away, and no one knew where it had gone.

"You run fast."

Qi Mi snorted and turned away.

On the other side, Chunya Kindergarten, Douding Class.

"Teacher Du, I need to pee!" Wang Xiaohu squeezed his legs together and looked at Du Rui with grievance. He had just drunk too much instant noodle soup and couldn't hold it in any longer.

Du Rui thought about what Qi Mi had told him before he left - there was a big bug at the door and a torch was needed.

Then he pointed to the corner at the back of the classroom and said, "Go there."

"Ah? Right, right there?" Wang Xiaohu stared with his eyes wide open. He looked back in disbelief at the two girls who were still playing with their toys, shaking his head like a rattle. "I don't!"

Du Rui gently pushed him over: "Teacher will help you block it..."

"No, I want to go to the bathroom!" Wang Xiaohu squeezed his legs together and ran towards the door, swaying like a little penguin.

Du Rui grabbed him and said, "The toilet is broken and cannot be used."

"Ah?" Wang Xiaohu blinked, "I don't believe it. I want to go and take a look!"

"Student Wang Xiaohu, if you don't listen, the teacher will be angry." Du Rui deliberately frowned.

Wang Xiaohu: “…”

Wang Xiaohu felt wronged and could only be dragged to the back of the classroom by Du Rui like a chicken.

Du Rui had just squatted down, preparing to rub his hands warm before taking off his pants, when he suddenly heard Wang Xiaohu burst into tears. This child was usually the troublemaker in the class, always making others cry, but this was the first time he had cried so hard that the kettle would hum.

Woo woo woo, intermittently.

Du Rui was startled and didn't dare to move for a moment: "What's wrong?"

Wang Xiaohu sobbed and said it three times before Du Rui could understand it.

"I, I peed my pants, wow—"

Du Rui: “…”

It had been fine before, the kids had kept their voices low and weren't too noisy. But this time, Wang Xiaohu roared, and the two sleeping children sat up with their eyes squinting, dazed.

Zheng Yuanyuan hurried over to tuck in the quilt for them. She peeked at the youngest, Di Yuntong, and luckily he was still awake. She quickly went over and patted him a few times.

At this time, Wang Xiaohu had been coaxed by Du Rui. He sniffed while taking off his pants and asked again uncertainly: "Mr. Du...you really won't tell my dad, mom and dad about me peeing in my pants...?"

"No." Du Rui replied, and after taking off half of his pants, he carried him back to the bed, covered him with the quilt before taking them off completely, and instructed: "Cover yourself up, the girls are here."

Wang Xiaohu licked the snot that flowed to the corner of his mouth and nodded.

Du Rui frowned in disgust, took out some paper from his pocket and wiped his nose, then stood up with the wet pants and walked over to Zheng Yuanyuan: "I'll go out and help him wash his pants."

Zheng Yuanyuan: "Wait a minute, Teacher Du..."

"Huh?" Du Rui turned around.

Zheng Yuanyuan opened her mouth, then closed it again. After carefully tucking Di Yuntong's quilt in, she walked over with an evasive look on her face, "I, I want to go too."

Du Rui was silent for two seconds and looked towards the corner at the back of the classroom.

Before she could even open her mouth to say anything, Zheng Yuanyuan flatly rejected her: "I'm a teacher, I can't be in the classroom!" Although she knew that special circumstances required special treatment and that it was dangerous outside, she couldn't be in front of ten human cubs... She gasped: "Is it really not possible for me to go out alone?"

Du Rui recalled Zheng Yuanyuan's fear of insects and nodded firmly: "No."

Zheng Yuanyuan was about to cry: "Then, what should I do?" If Qi Mi was here, she could at least ask her to accompany her. Now there is only one male teacher like this, and she is really a little desperate.

Du Rui thought for a moment and said, "Let me go out and deal with it first, then you can go?"

Zheng Yuanyuan nodded quickly: "Okay, thank you, Teacher Du."

Du Rui hummed.

He obediently followed Qi Mi's instructions, found a dry rag and wrapped it around the mop, then took out a bottle of disinfectant alcohol from the cabinet on the podium, poured it on the rag, and then lit it with fire to make a simple torch.

Just as I walked to the door with the torch, I heard Yu Jiaojiao suddenly exclaim: "Wow, Teacher Du, are you going to exorcise ghosts?" As she said that, she stood up, put on her shoes and prepared to follow.

Zheng Yuanyuan reminded sternly: "Yu Jiaojiao, didn't Mommy tell you that there are no ghosts in the world? Stop, sit down!"

"That's just because you didn't see it, it doesn't mean it doesn't exist..." Yu Jiaojiao curled her lips and muttered softly.

At this time, Zhao Yize explained seriously: "There are really no ghosts in this world. My dad said that they are just to scare children."

"Hmph!" Yu Jiaojiao ignored him and rolled her eyes.

While they were chatting, Du Rui had already opened the door a crack. Seeing the large white worm on the ground, he immediately slipped out through the crack and closed the door, isolating Wang Xiaohu's anxious words, "Teacher Du, please don't burn my pants," inside the room.

Du Rui took a breath.

Although he had heard Qi Mi say that the bugs were big, he didn't expect them to be this big!

Not only are they large, but there are also quite a few of them.

After he walked out, there was no place to stand on either side. White-fleshed worms were crawling on the ground, and huge spiders with colorful bodies were hanging on the walls. The scene was really terrifying for him, a thirty-year-old man.

He held his breath and concentrated, first raised the torch to burn away a few swaying spiders, and then used the fire to directly roast the insects on the ground.

Soon, the crackling sound of insects exploding echoed through the corridor. Along with the explosions, a foul stench filled the air. The moment the flames came into contact with the slime, they shot up into the air and rushed forward in a single burst.

Du Rui lit the insects on fire as he walked, and only went into the bathroom after making sure that all of them were burned.

He stuck the torch in a flowerpot with only soil left, and using the light, rubbed Wang Xiaohu's pants a few times under the faucet.

I didn’t dare to stay here too long. After rubbing it a few times, I took my pants and torch and walked towards the Douding class.

The bugs in the corridor were almost gone, with only a few flames still burning.

Suddenly, a dark figure came flying towards us from the front, making a whirring sound like a small drone.

Du Rui quickly backed away, only to discover as the shadow drew closer that it was a moth the size of his head. Its body was green, its wings powerful and well-proportioned, and its eye-like pattern looked terrifying in this atmosphere.

The moth hit the wall and then immediately turned back and flew towards the torch again.

But this time Du Rui did not hide and held the torch high.

After the moth fluttered around the fire a few times, the flames ignited its wings. It tried to escape, but it was too late. With a thud, its wings burned and fell to the ground, right in front of a cluster of flames. Mixed with insect mucus, the flames burned more and more fiercely, and finally, the black shadow stopped moving.

It's really self-destruction.

Du Rui came back to his senses, pushed the door open and returned to the room. Just as he opened his mouth to greet Zheng Yuanyuan, "Master Zheng..." Before he could finish the last word "Master", he heard a sudden banging sound from the window.

Several sounds were heard almost at the same time, bang bang bang bang, something was hitting the glass, trying to break in!
