Chapter 82: Hundred Stories

The room fell silent again.

Qi Mi's "yes" followed Cao Mingze's question "Is there any evidence?", which was obviously an answer.

They looked at each other and asked again, uncertainly: "Liang Hui, you said you have evidence of Cao Mingze's murder, right?"

"yes."

“!”

Cao Mingze froze, his eyes widening for a moment. No matter how confident he was in his methods, he couldn't help but feel suspicious when he heard Liang Hui had evidence of his murder.

It was pouring rain that day, and he quickly took care of Liang Hui. Logically, there shouldn't be any evidence... No, Qi Mi was deliberately tricking him. If there had been evidence, how could he have gotten away with it for twelve years?!

So this is a trap set by Qi Mi, yes! It is a trap!

After figuring it out, Cao Mingze slowly exhaled. "Whatever you say, I'm not afraid of any slander. If Qi Fan wants to find a scapegoat, I'm the best choice. I'm not good at speaking, so let him say whatever he wants."

Xu Wei caught the hidden meaning in his words: "What scapegoat?"

Cao Mingze sat back down on the floor, legs crossed. "Haven't you ever considered one thing? Perhaps we've all been trapped by Qi Mi from the beginning. Don't forget, he was the one who set this up. The way I see it, he regrets killing his girlfriend and is tormented by nightmares of Liang Hui, so he wants to find a scapegoat among us to evade the chastisement of his conscience."

"He said it was impossible for him to rush to the suburbs to kill someone, but that was assuming he wasn't familiar with the B&B. Now it seems entirely possible that he rushed there in the middle of the night to see his girlfriend, without us knowing... The reason there was no sound from upstairs was because he knew the B&B owner and his daughter so well. It was common for boyfriends and girlfriends to spend the night together, so no one would have thought he would kill someone with a knife."

In Cao Mingze's explanation, the problematic parts of the inference gradually became reasonable.

For a moment, the balance in everyone's hearts began to waver between Qi Mi and Cao Mingze.

In the next few minutes, He Qixuan asked Liang Hui a few more questions, trying to find out where he kept the evidence, but the answer he got was "no" without exception.

Everyone soon lost their patience and began to doubt Qi Mi, so they thought about smashing the mirror and bringing Qi Mi back to hear what he had to say.

Bang!

The moment the mirror shattered into pieces, Qi Mi stared wide-eyed as if he had suddenly come back to life.

"Tsk~ Playing tricks." Cao Mingze sneered.

Qi Mi rubbed his temples and asked them, "How is it, are you sure?"

Xu Wei looked at him, then at Cao Mingze: "You and Lao Cao should each explain why you couldn't be the murderer. I'm almost losing my mind."

"Me too. Let's finish this quickly. There are only three candles left."

As he was speaking, someone sighed and extinguished another cigarette.

Everyone: “!!!”

Qi Mi glanced at the expressions of the others, sat down cross-legged, and rubbed his temples tiredly. "So we can be sure that the murderer is between the two of us, right? That's easy... There's a new rope I bought in the plastic bag at the door. You guys come and tie us up. Liang Hui and Qiqi will tell you the answer later."

"That means there's nothing for us to do now?" Mao Xiang asked, sticking his head out.

Seeing Qi Mi nodded, he rushed to the door of the room. After picking up the plastic bag, he realized that there was a scary eyeball at the door. He screamed and ran back quickly.

Cao Mingze stood up, insisting that he was not afraid of his own shadow. He smiled and said, "Alright, you're starting to use metaphysics to solve cases. Who's afraid of who? Come on, let's tie him up."

Several people took two chairs from the living room and brought them to the bedroom, and tied them to the chairs back to back.

The moment the door closed, the bedroom was plunged into pitch darkness.

Qi Mi and Cao Mingze turned their backs to each other, listening quietly to each other's breathing.

After an unknown amount of time, Cao Mingze chuckled twice.

"You're still trying to play tricks without any evidence, right?" He deliberately lowered his voice so that only Qi Mi could hear. "Oh, if there really were ghosts seeking revenge in this world, why would they wait twelve years to come? You, these are just tricks to fool children..."

At this point, he seemed to have thought of something, his eyes searching the darkness. "Oh, right, you're not going to imitate those tricks in TV dramas and leave a recorder here or something, waiting for me to confess the truth, and then take the recorder to the police station to convict me? Hehehe... kid, don't be so naive, okay?"

Qi Mi didn't respond. After a few seconds, he let out a sigh, "Why did you kill Qiqi?"

"Qi Mi, you can eat whatever you want, but you can't say anything you want. I didn't kill anyone!" Cao Mingze shouted deliberately, believing that people in the living room could hear him through the door.

“…”

Qi Mi suddenly clenched his fists, his face so cold that water seemed to be dripping out.

Although Cao Mingze had already firmly refused to admit it, he still wanted to play tricks on Qi's fans. He leaned back and said to himself:

"You, Qi Mi, the class flower, have been handsome since you were young, so many pretty girls have been around you... I like one, and that girl tells me she likes you. I like another, and that girl will definitely ignore me after seeing you. Do you think you are my peach blossom nemesis?"

Cao Mingze paused, and seeing that Qi Mi didn't respond, he continued, "Oh, there must be five or six girls, and none of them like me. They all like you. Every time they respond to me, they always say the same two sentences over and over again..." As he spoke, he deliberately pinched his voice to imitate those girls' words, saying in a coquettish voice, "Cao Mingze, you are a good person, but I'm sorry, I like Qi Mi... Hehe, don't you think it's funny?"

Qi Mi was silent for two seconds, then squeezed out a sentence from between his lips: "Is this why you killed Qiqi? To avenge me?"

Cao Mingze immediately raised his voice again and shouted, "What nonsense are you talking about! I didn't kill your girlfriend. I didn't kill anyone!"

After he finished speaking, he deliberately tilted his head towards Qi Mi's ear and said with a smile:

"Um."

It was a sound so subtle that even a mobile phone recording might not be able to capture it.

Qi Mi glanced sideways and could see Cao Mingze's extremely proud expression in the darkness.

"You said your girlfriend and Liang Hui would come back for revenge. Where are they? No, where are the ghosts? Where are they?" Cao Mingze looked around. "I think you've been directing and acting this whole thing, right, Qi Mi? You couldn't catch the person twelve years ago, and you can't catch him now. And what about the evidence? Stop it! If you had that kind of thing, would you have waited twelve years?"

"But I heard it with my own ears. You admitted to killing Qiqi!"

"I didn't kill anyone! I never said that!"

After Cao Mingze finished yelling, he followed up with another sarcastic question, "Again, where's your evidence? How are you going to convict me without it? Are you planning on taking me to the police station like this and telling them with all your might that I personally admitted to murder? Who would blow themselves up after killing someone? Only a fool would!"

Qi Mi didn't say anything.

The room returned to silence.

But less than a minute later, Cao Mingze heard a rustling sound behind him, and then he felt a cool breeze blowing from his side.

Someone walked past him!

Cao Mingze suddenly felt his scalp tingling. Before he could speak, he heard Qi Mi's cold voice from above his head:

"I never said I wanted the police to handle this."

“!!!”

Cao Mingze's pupils shrank, and just as he was about to stand up, he was stopped by the hemp ropes tightly tied around his body. His hands and feet were tied firmly to the chair, and no matter how he struggled, he couldn't get free.

He stared upwards in a daze, and said in panic, "How did you get up?!"

"Do you remember who tied me up?" Qi Mi asked back, walking towards the door of the room calmly.

Cao Mingze thought about it for a moment, confirmed it was Xu Wei, and suddenly his mind became clear: "Is he in cahoots with you?"

"Not only him, but also the person who kidnapped you..."

The image of He Qixuan suddenly appeared in Cao Mingze's mind.

"Speaking of this, I should thank you. If you hadn't blew yourself up to provoke me, I wouldn't have been able to identify my helpers so quickly... Just a while ago, the three of us discussed this plan in the kitchen." Qi Mi stood at the door, squatted down and fumbled with the things in the plastic bag.

Hearing the sound of plastic bags coming from the bedroom, Xu Wei and He Qixuan, who were sitting in the living room, looked at each other, walked over and turned the key on the bedroom door a few times, then pulled it out and sat back down as if nothing had happened.

He Qixuan adjusted his glasses and stared at the hands-free cell phones among the people.

Qi Mi was indeed recording, but it was a recording of a phone call. Although Cao Mingze was deliberately avoiding admitting that he was the murderer, he liked to seek death and challenge Qi Mi's bottom line.

The people in the living room are not fools. They can always understand what Cao Mingze means from his words, but they just have no evidence.

Cao Mingze realized that he had fallen into Qi Mi's trap again, and struggled and shouted, "You are crazy, Qi Mi! Abuse of lynching is illegal!"

Qi Mi paused, then said faintly, "Really? But I don't care."

The room was dark, and Cao Mingze couldn't see where Qi Mi was. He could only hear his words, which were like a poisonous snake wrapping around his heart.

"Today I spent fifty-eight dollars at the canteen. Seven popsicles for seven dollars, two bottles of soda for eight dollars. Guess what I bought for the remaining few dozen dollars?"

Qi Mi chuckled and took out the contents of the plastic bag one by one as if for display.

Even though he knew Cao Mingze couldn't see.

"An orange fruit knife for nine dollars, two clotheslines for fifteen, a hammer for nineteen... that's exactly fifty-eight dollars."

Qi Mi's almost insane voice scared Cao Mingze. He shouted for help, but the people on the other side of the door seemed not to hear him and no one came to help him.

brush!

The curtains were flung open.

It happened that a sharp white lightning flashed by, and Qi Mi stood against the light, holding a cold stainless steel hammer in his hand.

The way he curled the corners of his lips slightly made him look like a Rakshasa from hell:

"I'm going to start my revenge~"
