Chapter 87 Treatment (Part 3)

Qi Mi suddenly opened his eyes.

While she was half asleep and half awake, two sounds coming from underground immediately set off the alarm bells in her mind.

She lay motionless on the bed with her eyes open and holding her breath.

It was very quiet all around.

She could even hear her own heartbeat.

One minute later.

Boom, boom, boom.

The sound from underground began to sound rhythmically again.

And you can hear it, it's under her bed!

Qi Mi sucked in a breath of cold air, and slowly stood up with her hands on the bed, trying not to make any creaking noises. She paused, then suddenly bent down and looked under the bed.

Empty.

As expected.

Knock knock!

Then came a chilling knocking sound from underground.

Qi Mi quickly jumped off the bed. Perhaps the medicine she took had an analgesic effect. Although her whole body still ached, she could bear it and her mobility had greatly improved.

She subconsciously reached for her waist and found that the knife sheath she had made was empty, with only a cake fork inside. So she walked a few steps to the door and picked up the broom.

Qi Mi walked back to the bed, and after hearing the thud, she also knocked the floor twice with the mop stick.

It seems quiet.

A few minutes passed and there was no more noise from underground.

If Qi Mi hadn't been able to confirm that she was awake, she would have really thought she was hallucinating.

She sat back on the bed and waited for a while. Even though her eyelids began to droop and there was no more thudding sound, she leaned the broom aside and got into bed.

The next morning at eight o'clock, the nurse brought medicine and breakfast on time.

Breakfast was white porridge and pickles. I have to say the food in the hospital was pretty good. Yesterday's boxed lunch was a combination of meat and vegetables, and it was much better than what I ate in the last apocalypse.

After Qi Mi took the medicine, the nurse took out an instrument and measured her SAN value.

It has reached 52, which is considered mild chaos.

At this time, her memory was almost fully recovered except for some minor details.

"Oh right, I really heard some thumping sounds coming from underground last night..."

Qi Mi told the nurse what happened last night, trying to find an answer. But unexpectedly, the nurse took out the instrument that had just been placed in the medical box and measured her forehead.

"You're 53 years old. Logically, someone with mild confusion shouldn't say such things." The young nurse was confused and frowned.

Qi Mi rolled his eyes speechlessly and said seriously, "I'm not talking nonsense. I was really awake last night and heard a sound coming from underground..."

"How is that possible?" the young nurse interrupted her. "This floor is the lowest in the hospital. There are no rooms underground. How could there be any sound?"

At this point, her expression suddenly changed, and she put the instrument back into the medical box. "There might be something wrong with the instrument. Please wait here. I'll get another instrument to measure you."

"Wait, no, why don't you believe me?" Qi Mi felt so tired.

A few minutes later, the sound of heavy metal rollers came closer, and Qi Mi saw a nurse pushing a large device in from outside. This device was a precision instrument with a display, buttons, and many red, black, and yellow wires crisscrossing it.

Seeing this, the kids all retreated silently to the wall.

Qi Mi was also startled and moved back unconsciously.

The nurse panted, "Wait a moment, our director will come down from upstairs soon and give you a full range of measurements."

Qi Fan was shocked: "Huh?"

Ten minutes later, the sound of large troop footsteps could be heard in the corridor.

A middle-aged man with a Mediterranean hairstyle came with several young doctors and nurses and showed them how to operate the instrument for the purpose of scientific teaching and research.

And Qi Mi is the guinea pig being experimented on.

"Don't be nervous, it will be over in minutes. Come, lie down on the bed first." The director spoke in poor Mandarin. He had a stern face one second, and the next second he looked at Qi Mi with a smile on his face, as if he was wearing a mask.

Qi Mi lay back on the bed half-believing and half-doubting.

Next, the nurse attached various wires to her forehead and shoulders, and the director chattered with other young doctors using medical terms that she could not understand.

However, looking at the screen display, the result was not much different from that of the small instrument. Her SAN value was 52.

"Don't worry, there's no problem. He's recovering well and will be transferred to the general ward upstairs soon." The director smiled and nodded to Qi Mi.

The young nurse was afraid that the director would blame her, so she quickly explained to him, "But she and Xiaochun both said there were sounds coming from underground..."

"Well, maybe he just heard some noise. Rats could be burrowing underground, so it's normal to hear strange noises. Young man, don't be so paranoid all the time." The director seemed to be feeling embarrassed and said through gritted teeth, "Next time, call me after you've figured out the situation. I'm very busy."

The young nurse said sheepishly: "Yes, I understand, Director."

After the director left with a few young doctors, the crowded ward suddenly became deserted. After the young nurse had cleaned up, she stood by the door with a cart and waited.

Qi Mi understood and immediately got up to make the bed, put the toys scattered on the bed into the children's small schoolbags, and led them out of the ward.

As soon as I reached the door, I saw Song Chun opposite me putting his face into the small window again.

Unlike yesterday's jealous madness, today she looked completely lost, with her eyes shining as if filled with tears, staring at Qi Mi eagerly.

Song Chun is the person that Qi Mi is least able to deal with.

Thinking of how Song Chun had helped her clean the house yesterday, she felt a little sorry for him. After discussing with the children, she took a small dinosaur toy and gave it to Song Chun. She said in a coaxing tone, "Take your medicine obediently. You will get better. I'll wait for you to come out."

Song Chun looked at the adorable little dinosaur and immediately burst into laughter. He turned away from the window and reached out to grab the toy: "Little dinosaur, will you be my good friend?"

Qi Mi looked at Song Chun who was obsessed with the little dinosaur, and the corners of his lips curled up slightly.

At the urging of the young nurse, Qi Mi took the child to the elevator and came to the general ward on the second floor of the hospital.

Because it was still underground, the rooms on the second floor still had no windows, but the space was much larger than the downstairs and was also cleaner and tidier. Due to the large number of patients with mild symptoms, there were no separate rooms available yesterday. The nurse had no choice but to take Qi Mi and the three children to discuss with everyone in the ward and seek their consent... Finally, they got permission from a white-haired grandmother.

Qi fans brought their children to express their gratitude at the door.

The old lady had a kind face and wore a pair of gold-rimmed reading glasses. She seemed to like children very much. As soon as she came in, she asked the three children if they wanted some fruit.

Qi Mi politely declined and sat on the bed next to her with the child in her arms.

"Girl, don't blame others for not accepting children. It's mainly because our illness can't stand noise, and children are bound to cry and make a fuss." The old lady smiled and said, "I'm almost recovered and should be able to be discharged this afternoon, so it's very convenient for you to bring them here."

"Well, thank you." Qi Mi smiled.

The three children were also very polite: "Thank you, grandma!"

"You're welcome, you're welcome." The old lady waved her hand, and her wrinkles became more gentle.

The hospital bed was not big, and Qi Mi had to curl up on it to make room for the three children under his feet.

The children were also very sensible and huddled together to avoid disturbing her rest.

The children were full of energy and had a lot of fun sitting on their beds.

Wu Muchen sat right opposite Qi Mi, keeping an eye on her movements. When he saw her close her eyes, he quickly reminded the other two kids to control their voices.

The old lady sat by and watched them, her eyes always filled with a loving smile.

The children were making noises, the elderly were laughing, and the harmonious atmosphere gradually brought warmth to this cold ward.

After an unknown amount of time, hurried footsteps were heard from the corridor.

Ye Shiliu was running too fast and had no time to brake, and he turned too sharply and crashed into the ward door.

A loud bang broke the peace.

Qi Mi sat up in shock from the bed. After a few seconds of daze, she came to her senses and looked at Ye Shiliu's unkempt appearance. She couldn't help but raise an eyebrow: "Did you just come back from a defeat?"

"Ah?" Ye Shiliu subconsciously touched his cheek and realized that he had been in such a hurry to leave that he didn't even shave. It felt a little prickly. He touched his hair again and found that it stood up on both sides like a fried chicken.

He hurriedly straightened his appearance and tried to push down his frizzy hair. A glimpse of the black and white words in his hand reminded him of something important. He immediately dragged a chair and sat down beside Qi Mi's bed. "It's urgent, girl! You have to help me!"

"What's up?"

"Didn't I save you yesterday? You purified the strange thing, and my superiors asked me to write a report and submit it. It's my first time writing, and I can't figure out anything. I didn't sleep all night just to write these few pages! You should have noticed that I really didn't sleep all night. Look, look..."

Ye Shiliu pointed at his beard and hair and asked anxiously, "Can you tell me in detail how you discovered that the phone was strange?"

Qi Mi thought about it and said with embarrassment: "I really can't tell you about this matter in detail."

"Why not?" Ye Shiliu frowned exaggeratedly. "Don't tell me you relied on your sixth sense as a woman."

"That's not the case...it's just one of my abilities." Qi Mi replied.

Although her [Death Eye] was still sealed, her ability to convert anything she touched into weapon data remained, allowing her to detect data on anything she wanted. The phone happened to be in her pocket, and she unconsciously activated that ability, immediately noticing something amiss in the skill column.

As an ordinary mobile phone, it should only have communication skills and should not have any attack skills.

I also heard that the way to identify strange things is to [transform dead things into living things], and then it will be clear at a glance what they are.
