Chapter 44: Sell it out

"Hey, start your arrangements." Jiang Jin smiled and clapped her hands. The water curtain that appeared in the air behind her quietly dissipated.

Balke was still a little dazed and didn't react to Jiang Jin's meaning for a moment. He nervously pointed at himself and then at the brothers beside him.

"Yes, that's what you want." Jiang Jin nodded with a smile.

She wanted Balk to take the position of supervisor and lead the other twenty-three people to complete the construction of the mission hall.

Balke will stand there firmly like a coordinate.

The remaining twenty-three people took him as their target and center, slowly moving towards him.

"Thank you, Lord Cheng!" The thin man didn't expect that he would be appreciated by Jiang Jin just by coming here. He was so excited that he half-knelt in front of Jiang Jin and kowtowed to her devoutly.

Jiang Jin took two steps to the side, not accepting his generous gift. She coughed and changed the subject, "From now on, they will be under your command. I don't care about the process, I only care about the results. If the performance is unsatisfactory, the first person I will punish will be you."

"Do you have the confidence to do it, Balk?"

Balk nodded quickly. He cherished this rare opportunity very much. "I swear by the God of Light! I will absolutely and perfectly complete the task assigned by the Lord of the City."

Driven by this excitement, Jiang Jin raised her chin slightly and signaled to start.

Balk understood, and he immediately arranged the twenty-three people. After confirming their respective tasks, he took the lead in leading a team to clean up the wreckage on the outer wall.

The chapel was suddenly filled with dust. Jiang Jin sneezed several times because of the dust. She took out a square handkerchief from the warehouse and wrapped it around her face as a veil, blocking most of the dust and making her feel a little better.

Twenty or so rough guys were working hard and no one had time to care about Jiang Jin, the weak, pitiful and helpless succubus.

Jiang Jin stood at the door for a while, and when she saw that Balke had arranged their affairs in an orderly and clear manner, she nodded with satisfaction.

Suddenly, she seemed to remember something. She looked up at the sun hanging high in the sky, deduced the time, and suddenly her heart cried out in urgency. She hurriedly asked the maid to get on the carriage with her, "We've been talking for too long. I've almost forgotten about that. Hurry up, let's go back to the city."

The coachman did not dare to delay and drove the carriage away from the chapel quickly.

When Jiang Jin jumped down from the carriage with her long skirt lifted up, Brook happened to be preparing to go out with his heavy sword on his back. His sight was bewitched by Jiang Jin's flying skirt, and he stood there in a daze for a moment.

"This, this is really very decent." Brook came to his senses, frowned and said in a low voice, "No noble would get off the carriage like this."

He put all the blame on Jiang Jin'er, as if this could cover up the fact that he was infatuated with her.

Seeing Jiang Jin holding up her skirt and running towards Cheng Yu's house without even looking at him, Brooke couldn't help but call out to her, "Cheng Yu?"

Jiang Jin frowned and nodded, then softened her expression when she saw Brooke. "It's Brooke. Good afternoon."

She didn't want to say anything more to Brooke, so after saying hello, she hurried to the kitchen.

"What the hell is going on?" Brooke stood there with a frown on his face. Without giving it any thought, he turned around and followed Jiang Jin directly.

Jiang Jin rushed into the kitchen at lightning speed, causing the cooks who were stealing beans in the kitchen to tremble their hands, and the beans fell directly to the ground, rolling around, and finally stopped in front of the tip of Jiang Jin's shoe.

"Master Cheng, we, we." The four cooks huddled together, looked at Jiang Jin nervously, and subconsciously hid the beans behind them, but how could they hide them?

Jiang Jin raised her eyebrows. She ignored the four cooks and walked to the big pot on the stove. There was a big pot of beans stewing in it, which was going to be transported to the chapel for Balk and others to have lunch.

Looking inside, I saw that there was more water than beans.

The beans were floating in the turbid water, helpless. Jiang Jin scooped up a bowl with a spoon and carefully counted the beans in it. There were exactly ten beans, no more, no less. This was the result of Jiang Jin's hard work in searching and scooping out the beans from the pot of bean soup.

Then she looked at the four cooks secretly placing bowls of food behind her, piled high up in the sea. Was there anything else Jiang Jin didn't understand?

One can imagine how full Balke and the others would be after eating this pot of bean soup at the chapel.

Jiang Jin's face darkened. She had come in a hurry just to add some meat to Balk and the others' lunch.

For such young and strong men, eating only beans while doing physical work would definitely not provide them with the energy their bodies need. Jiang Jin was not a demanding person, and the salary she gave Balk and the others was only twenty copper coins a day, so she wanted to take better care of them in terms of food.

No matter what era, there are always dirty things happening in the kitchen, but no one expected that the cooks in the city would be so bold. Jiang Jin slowly closed the lid of the big pot, her soft long hair covering her cheeks, but the anger emanating from her inexplicably made the cooks shudder.

The cooks were all terrified. They had never thought that Jiang Jin was so concerned about this matter. They thought they could just send her off casually, but they never expected that they would be caught red-handed by Jiang Jin when they were committing the crime.

"Master Cheng, we are just about to perform a second filtering and boiling." A cook who was a little over an hour old quickly calmed herself down and came up to argue.

Jiang Jin looked at her with a half-smile, straightened up slightly, and motioned the cook to continue.

She wanted to hear what excuses these people had.

Perhaps it was because Aunt Jiang's gaze was too direct, and the cook had a thousand excuses going around in her mind, but in the end she didn't dare say anything out loud.

"Am I too talkative to the point that even though I've been in office for so long, you're still pretending to obey me?" Jiang Jin asked softly, not sure if she was asking herself or the four cooks.

At this time, Yager got the news and rushed to the kitchen breathlessly. When she saw the situation in the kitchen, she became furious and rushed forward, giving each of the four women who didn't know how to live or die a big slap in the face.

"Lord Cheng! It's me..." Yager quickly apologized.

Jiang Jin waved her hand, not wanting to hear her continue. She walked past Yager, patted her shoulder gently and said, "Yage, I am very disappointed with your housekeeping ability."

Yager was stunned, but she didn't dare to argue. After all, what Jiang Jin said was true.

She did not discipline the servants in the city government very strictly, because she felt from the bottom of her heart that Jiang Jin would not be able to stay in the position of city government for long.

"If you don't want to continue to stay in the position of housekeeper of the city government, you can tell me in advance. It's not difficult to choose someone to replace you." Jiang Jin said lightly, which made Yager's body stiffen.

Jiang Jin was serious. She didn't want to worry about these trivial matters every day.

Yager is smart enough, but she is not loyal to Jiang Jin.

This time, it was Jiang Jin who specifically pointed out a lesson to her. Jiang Jin slowly withdrew her gaze from Yager and looked at the four embarrassed and ashamed cooks. "I remember they all sold themselves to the city government, right?"

"Yes." Yager said in a low voice with his head down.

Jiang Jin concealed the last trace of pity in her heart and whispered to Yager, "Sell it. I don't need a servant who is disloyal and disobedient."

"No, Lord Cheng! Please! Give us a chance!" When the four cooks heard Jiang Jin say that she wanted to sell them out, they panicked instantly.

In the city, you can eat well, dress warmly, do little work, don't have to worry about anything, and occasionally earn some extra money. Where can you find such a job?

The cooks knelt beside Aunt Jiang, crying and begging her to give them another chance.

"Once, twice, I've given you too many chances." Jiang Jin lowered her eyes and glanced at them.

Time and again, no one in the city took Aunt Jiang's orders seriously.

If you want to blame someone, blame these four cooks for being too arrogant and too brazen! They just happened to catch Jiang Jin in a rage, and Jiang Jin took advantage of this to vent her anger and make an example of them.

This time, she will never repeat the same mistakes as before. She will nip all uncertainties in the bud.

Brook was a little surprised outside the door. It was the first time he saw Jiang Jin, a soft-hearted woman, with such a tough attitude.

This is really, this is really, so attractive! Brook swallowed his saliva and stared at Jiang Jin's figure, his eyes becoming more and more hot.
