Chapter 66: What a Big Safety Hazard

Jiang Jin staggered behind Old Tu, dragging a bag of poisonous snake branches.

She started to feel weak after taking only a few steps, and her hands and feet were sore. She was about to ask Bella to help her, but when she turned around, she saw Bella holding a basket in one hand and dragging a bag of cloud grass in the other. She walked without blushing or panting, and even grinned at Jiang Jin when she met her eyes.

Judging from Bella's condition, Jiang Jin privately thought that she would have no problem dragging three more bags.

Jiang Jin turned around breathlessly, her eyes falling on the old Tutou who was walking briskly in front of her. The old Tutou with disheveled hair was carrying a bag on each shoulder and walking briskly. He was more than just brave.

In comparison, Jiang Jin felt that using the word "weak chicken" to describe herself was too high.

"We're here, Lord City Lord, this is where I use for research." Old Tu pushed open the small room at the stairs on the first floor, making way for Jiang Jin to see what was inside.

There is a small rest area next to every floor in the City Lord's Mansion.

The small compartments in the main building were converted into servants' lounges with two beds. Since few people usually come to this building, the small compartments were set up as storage rooms to store things like hoes.

Now this small room has been cleaned up by Old Tutou. The cabinets on both sides are filled with bottles and jars, and there is a big pot in the middle. A strange smell comes from it, which seems to be a mixture of snow water mixed with soil and a bunch of messy plants stewed together.

Because the room was too small, the bags of plants they brought could not fit inside and had to be placed by the door.

Jiang Jin still gave Old Tu some face, so she walked in and took a look.

The colorful bottles and jars on both sides of the walls give this small room an extraordinary visual experience. There is a chair and table in the corner, as well as some grinding tools and rusty knives, and a small window on the right.

The room immediately became full with two people standing in it. In this small space, it seemed that even stretching one's limbs became inconvenient.

"Isn't this room a bit too small?" As soon as Jiang Jin finished speaking, Old Tu hurriedly shook his head.

"It's not small anymore. This location is great. It's in the corner and it's ventilated. I often boil these herbs, which have a strong smell. A ventilated location is just right for me." As he spoke, Old Tu opened a window in the small attic.

Suddenly, a chill hit her in the face, making Jiang Jin shiver. After a while of ventilation, the room was no longer filled with the original strong smell, but the coldness made her feel uncomfortable.

The weak, pitiful and delicate Jiang Jin sneezed because of the cold wind. She looked at Old Tu again. He looked so energetic and didn't look like an elderly man at all. He seemed to be in better physical condition than Jiang Jin.

Old Tu rubbed his hands and closed the window again, saying, "I lit a fire in there, and it's really stuffy. Sometimes a bit of cool air clears my head."

As he spoke, Old Tu began to demonstrate the process of making medicine to Jiang Jin.

He took the bag of viper branches from Bella, took out a few and washed them in the basin beside him, then put them on the chopping board and cut them into five equal-sized pieces.

Grind them into powder separately, then put them into glass bottles and weigh them. If the weights of the five parts are inconsistent, Lao Tutou will record them in detail and then put them in different places to distinguish them by category.

A portion of poisonous snake branches was taken out and added with a certain amount of water to make a paste, one portion was thrown into the pot to cook, and the others were mixed with green things and left alone. Old Tu was trying it bit by bit, and it could be seen that he liked and was good at this kind of work very much, and his movements were very efficient.

As he moved, the small house seemed to move. The big pot in the center of the house continued to emit steam driven by the firewood, blurring the edges of the bottles and jars and Jiang Jin's vision.

The elderly man's hands kept moving, and the sound of the knife and grinding blended with the crackling sound of wood, which was particularly harmonious.

Jiang Jin saw a stack of papers on Old Tu's desk, with a series of scrawled characters written on them. Jiang Jin took a look at them but couldn't understand anything.

It took Jiang Jin a long time to figure out from the illustration next to the character 㫧 that Lao Tutou used four things to make it. The first snake-like branch was the poisonous snake branch, and the remaining three round things made Jiang Jin stunned.

Fortunately, Old Tu knew the quality of his own handwriting. He took a quick look at the paper in Jiang Jin's hand and pointed to the picture next to the character "㫧" and said, "This is a potion I made using sunflower seeds, snake branches, powdered fruit, and beans."

"Beans? Did you put beans in the potion when you made it?"

Jiang Jin couldn't help but imagine this scene in her mind. It was a bit subtle.

Old Tu slapped his forehead embarrassedly and said, "No, I was having lunch at the time. My hands are shaking a little as I get older. I accidentally dropped three beans while watching the fire. I was afraid that the potion would change, so I simply added beans while making it."

His scientific and rigorous attitude gave Jiang Jin a lot of insights. "Different dosages have different effects, and the effects of different ingredients will also change accordingly. Lawson, you have the talent to be a pharmacist."

Jiang Jin was not exaggerating. She really felt that Old Tu was capable of being a pharmacist.

A trace of reminiscence crossed Old Tu's face. He stirred the contents of the pot with a wooden spoon and said, "I don't understand these things either. My father taught me when I was a child. I've forgotten most of them, but I remember him saying that no matter what you do, you must be serious and careful. I've remembered that all my life."

Over the years, Old Tutou has remembered those words of seriousness and carefulness firmly. He sighed with emotion, "Thanks to my father, otherwise I wouldn't be able to work under the city lord."

"Seriousness and meticulousness are indeed indispensable, but Lawson, you're a little too modest. Your sensitivity to these plants and your talent for refining potions are unparalleled. You've never learned this technique before, but you were able to create a coma potion. It's simply a miracle."

It was more than a miracle, it was simply unbelievable. Jiang Jin did not hesitate to praise it, and even Old Tu was stunned by what she said.

The environment here is just too bad. Jiang Jin came out of the small compartment and stood at the stairs on the first floor to look around.

This building has weapons storage on the first floor, seeds on the second floor, grain storage on the third floor, and treasury on the fourth floor. There is nothing stored on the four floors and they are quite empty.

Suddenly, there was a bang from inside the cubicle.

Jiang Jin looked inside and saw that the herbs in the cauldron had reached a critical point and suddenly exploded. Old Tu was scrambling to clean up the mess. "It exploded again. The dosage was too high. Make a note of this."

Jiang Jin raised her eyebrows. The upstairs was where the grain and seeds were stored, and the small compartment was too small and accidents could easily happen, so they had to be moved somewhere else.
