Lucas became even more clingy after waking up from a nap. He lay in Jiang Jin's arms, put his little face on Jiang Jin's shoulder, looking so cute and obedient. If his tail didn't interrupt Jiang Jin's reading, Jiang Jin might really praise him.
"Dragon clan, dragon clan." Jiang Jin didn't know whether Lucas's current condition was normal. She had never experienced anything, so she could only find some ancient books to read.
Unfortunately, there were not many books in this small study. Most of them were related to the city of Alicante. Jiang Jin searched through the books until her eyes were dazzled before she found these two books about the dragon clan. There were not many books in them, and they were just a few words away.
"Dragons are gentle, treasure-loving, social creatures. They possess absolute, pure power and are the nemesis of all evil."
Other than that, there's nothing useful.
"The collection of books in Alicante is so small. Didn't the previous mayors like reading?" Jiang Jin's head was buzzing with pain, and she threw the book aside.
When Lucas heard the sound, he turned his head curiously to look at the book on the table, his mouth watering.
Not knowing whether the book tasted good, Lucas secretly put his fingers in his mouth and sucked them, trying to imagine the taste of the book in his mind.
Daisy came up with a pot of steaming hot tea, and Bella followed closely behind with a hot water bottle made according to Jiang Jin's instructions. They pushed the door open and heard Jiang Jin's complaints. Daisy's mouth was faster than her brain. She smiled and said to Jiang Jin, "Lord Mayor, there is a library in Building No. 4. There are books and ancient books accumulated by various mayors in the past."
"Are there many books in there?" Jiang Jin took the tea that Daisy handed to her with both hands, took a sip, and the little guy lying on her body opened his mouth with a "ah". Jiang Jin glanced at him, blew the half-drunk tea to cool it, and put it into little Lucas's mouth.
After Lucas finished drinking, he smacked his lips and said crisply, imitating Jiang Jin's expression, "What a good tea!"
"You bad boy." Jiang Jin chuckled, her eyes curved with laughter. She pretended to be angry and spanked Lucas's little butt. Lucas was not afraid at all, and was also smiling happily to himself.
"There are quite a few. I heard they were left behind by the first mayor of Alicante. But someone died in that room later, so no one comes back anymore."
Daisy explained to Jiang Jin, and afraid that Jiang Jin wouldn't believe it, she made a big gesture to tell Jiang Jin how many books were inside.
"Someone died. Was it a servant? When did it happen?" Jiang Jin asked again.
"No, it was a knight who died."
Daisy shook her head. She leaned over to Jiang Jin and whispered, "I heard that the damn knight and the Lord Knight were once good friends, but then the Lord Knight fell into a slump for a long time."
If Jiang Jin understood correctly, the Knight Commander was referring specifically to Brook.
"Things are getting more and more interesting." Jiang Jin closed the book in her hand with a half-smile and picked up the little guy. "Let's go to the library and take a look."
Jiang Jin gave the order, and Bella and Daisy started moving without saying a word. Those who wore cloaks wore cloaks, and those who brought stoves brought stoves. Bella finally put a small and cute red satin hat on Lucas, which made Lucas's red lips and white teeth look even more prominent, making him look like a lovely New Year picture doll.
Several people walked out of the room. On the way, Daisy reported to Jiang Jin about the training situation in the mission hall today. Bella also talked intermittently about the arrangements for Brandon and other children. There were still many plants collected in the Misty Forest, but there were fewer opportunities to collect them.
Brandon's children had nothing to do, so Jiang Jin arranged for them to work in the kitchen.
When she reached the lobby on the first floor, Jiang Jin stopped and took a look into the kitchen. A few little kids wearing aprons and hats followed the fat cook, making "wow" sounds from time to time, their little faces flushed with heat, and their eyes shone with joy when they saw the food.
"Observe them and see what they are talented in, and then assign them to other positions." Jiang Jin retracted her gaze and said to Daisy.
"Yes!" Daisy nodded solemnly. After Jiang Jin turned her head, she secretly took out a palm-sized booklet from her sleeve, quickly wrote a sentence with a charcoal pencil, and stuffed it back into her sleeve.
Her movements were so fast that Bella was stunned.
The library is on the top floor. Not many people come here on weekdays, and the door is locked. Compared with the rooms downstairs, it looks very shabby.
Jiang Jin grabbed the iron lock that locked the door in her hand and tried to pull it, but there was no movement. She took out her wand and cast a spell on the iron lock. With a click, the door lock was opened. Jiang Jin pushed open the door, and the damp air with the smell of decay inside hit her face.
Jiang Jin looked inside and saw only pitch blackness, with an eerie and terrifying atmosphere inside and out.
"Surrounded by Light." Jiang Jin waved her wand and cast a spell inside. In an instant, light filled the entire room, making it as bright as noon.
Even though Daisy and Bella had seen Jiang Jin cast spells many times, they were still amazed by her magic every time.
The bookcases in the library were neatly arranged. At a glance, the room was full of books and manuals. Jiang Jin was afraid that there was too much dust inside, so she used the cleaning technique. After the layer of dust on the ground was thoroughly cleaned, Jiang Jin stepped into the room.
There was always a faint smell of decay in the room. Jiang Jin had sensitive senses and could not stand this kind of suffering. After entering the room, she spent several minutes to determine the general direction of the house. She was finally happy after seeing the window.
"Such a nice place, and you just let him gather dust here. Couldn't your previous mayor be illiterate?" Jiang Jin muttered to the two maids beside her as she pushed open the window.
The two of them looked at each other, and Bella said, "The previous Lord, City Master, was indeed illiterate. All government affairs were reviewed by the Lord Knight Commander."
Jiang Jin's hand paused slightly. It was true that the previous mayor was a fallen nobleman, but according to Alyssa, this fallen nobleman was driven out from the capital. People in the capital should not be illiterate.
The cold wind outside blew in through the wide-open window, making Jiang Jin's delicate face hurt in the wind.
Suddenly, Jiang Jin heard the sound of pages turning. She looked in the direction of the sound, but saw only rows of motionless books.
"Strange, it should be here?" Jiang Jin walked quickly across the hall and when she came to the bookcase, she was dazzled by a burst of light.
