Chapter 3: The Kind-hearted Dwarf

In the dark forest, an ox cart carrying people and goods was slowly driving in the opposite direction of the convoy.

This small ox cart was very simple. It was just an old ox pulling a cart. It didn't even have a roof and was windy on all sides.

In addition to Jiang Jin and the little one in her arms, there were two dwarfs and a young man on the ox cart. There were many daily necessities on both sides. Jiang Jin looked at the quality and degree of use of the large iron pot that rolled down at her feet and could infer that this group of people lived a very simple life.

"Eat something." Walters took out a dark bottle from under the seat, unscrewed it and placed it in front of Jiang Jin.

Inside was a thick black mass. Jiang Jin swallowed her saliva. This color didn't look safe.

"Thank you." Jiang Jin took it reluctantly and held it in her hand, but she didn't dare to try it easily.

Walters seemed to notice her predicament and coughed slightly. "This is porridge made from green-bone badger, oats, rye, and leaf grass. Although it doesn't look very good, it does give you a strong sense of fullness."

The younger dwarf beside him nodded in agreement, while the older dwarf snorted coldly and continued to drive the cart forward without saying much.

"Even if you don't want to eat, the little one in your arms should eat something." Wochens glanced at the little one in Jiang Jin's arms who had not made a sound all the way.

If it weren't for the body temperature, he would have thought that the little guy had already fallen into a long sleep from which he could not wake up.

Indeed, Jiang Jin licked her lips which were dry due to lack of water.

These three people didn't look like vicious people, so she decided to take a gamble. She held the bottle tightly and took a tentative sip.

It was a strange feeling when she took a sip, the sticky and slightly spicy taste rushed straight into her nose. She covered her mouth for a while before swallowing it. Then she felt warm in her stomach, and a hot current emerged, which made Jiang Jin's stiff body regain some strength.

"It has a magical effect of restoring physical strength!" Jiang Jin was a little surprised. "Are you a magician?"

Voss scratched his head in dismay. "I've only just begun to learn magic. I'm still just an apprentice."

As soon as he mentioned it, magic apprentice Jiang Jin understood.

Here, children usually take a test between the ages of four and ten to see if they are suitable for learning magic. Few people show talent at Waltham's age. They probably don't have much magical talent and are just ordinary people who have been exploring the field of magic for a long time.

Jiang Jin drank two sips herself and fed some to the little one in her arms. She didn't stop until the little one's condition gradually changed from weak and hungry to half-full and asleep.

After eating and drinking, Jiang Jin felt a little drowsy, but in this situation she didn't dare to close her eyes and just talked to Watson in a random manner.

The diesel lamp hanging on the small pillar in front of the ox cart emitted a faint warm yellow light. Perhaps an insect accidentally flew in. Jiang Jin heard crackling sounds coming from inside, intertwined with the sound of the ox cart's wheels rolling, which was unexpectedly wonderful.

"Although the city of Achunkant is located at the foot of the Ke'e Forest, it is remote, sparsely populated, and has inconvenient transportation."

After you said that, it seemed that there was nothing good about the city of Achenkant. Jiang Jin patted the little guy in her arms.

"It turns out that the city of Achankant was the largest trading capital in the past. It is far away from the imperial capital, with beautiful mountains and rivers and simple people. You will definitely like the city of Achankant." said Worms.

Jiang Jin also nodded in agreement. She wanted to talk to the two dwarfs. The younger one, Hayden, had just opened his mouth to talk to Jiang Jin when the older dwarf, Bert, who was driving, glanced at them sideways and coughed. Hayden immediately shrank his neck and didn't dare to say a word for a long time.

Jiang Jin knew that Burt didn't want Hayden to have too much involvement with him.

She knew what to do and stopped talking to Hayden. Hayden was so angry that he secretly glared at Bert, ran to his side and started whispering to him head to head.

The night wind was a little chilly. Seeing that Wo Xinsi had fallen asleep beside her, Jiang Jin did not say anything. Instead, she wrapped herself tightly in the tattered thing that could not even be called clothes.

She leaned slightly to the side, with her back facing the wind, shielding the little one in her arms from the cool wind.

Anyway, it's very cold this day, and it's better for one person to suffer the cold than for two people.

The old dwarf Bert heard the sound, looked back, and coughed again, which made Hayden, who was in a daze, react. Bert winked at him, and Hayden blinked and pointed at the package in the corner in disbelief.

"Go!" said the old dwarf Bert.

This was the first words he spoke that night. His voice was deep and hoarse, as if he was speaking at the top of his lungs, causing Jiang Jin to turn her head in surprise.

Just as she was thinking about it, a strange smell mixed with dampness and mold came, and Hayden dragged a grayish-white rabbit skin cloak to Jiang Jin.

"Give it to me?" Jiang Jin was a little surprised.

She thought the two dwarfs didn't like her, after all, Bert always sneered or snorted every night.

Hayden nodded and whispered, "It's cold at night. Put it on quickly and don't damage it. This is the snow rabbit skin we hunted with great difficulty last winter. We can sell it for a lot of money in the city."

Jiang Jin was speechless. The cloak in front of her was indeed not the size of a dwarf. Although it smelled bad, it was better than nothing. Jiang Jin didn't act pretentiously. She covered herself with the cloak and said to Hayden, "Thank you, and thank Bert for me too."

Hayden grinned, looking shy.

The snow rabbit fur was indeed warm. As soon as Jiang Jin put it on, she felt her arms and legs, which had been frozen stiff, gradually relax. She watched the ox cart slowly driving towards the pitch-black road ahead where no light could be seen, and her heart suddenly felt heavy.

"I don't know if I came to this world after dying in reality." Jiang Jin was in a daze, and suddenly another thought popped up, "I don't have a cat yet."

Jiang Jin lives alone. She originally planned to get a cat after completing this planning proposal. The cat climbing frame was on the way, but she didn't expect that she would be gone.

This is such a sad story.

Her mind was in a mess, and she was thinking about a bunch of inexplicable things, including her collection of idol records and the newly bought LV bags. The more she thought about it, the more heartbroken she became.

After her thoughts wandered for a while, she slowly packed up all these sad emotions and kicked them into the deepest part of her brain. When Jiang Jin opened her eyes again, she was the calm and decisive Jiang Jin again.

After calming down, Jiang Jin began to recall everything that happened in the past day. This was a habit she developed in the workplace.

After completing the daily work, I will review the work of the day.

"It's true that that wretched man was a breakthrough point for me, but I was a little too reckless at that time and was almost discovered by another person. Fortunately, he was an ordinary person. If he was a magician, I'm afraid he would have discovered my tricks very quickly." Jiang Jin frowned.

This place is different from the real world, and everything must be done more cautiously. If Jiang Jin had revealed any more flaws at that time, she probably wouldn't be sitting in this ox cart leisurely traveling through the woods now.

There was also the character panel. Jiang Jin looked at the sky with resentment, thinking that it would provide her with a powerful auxiliary function, but unexpectedly it was just a useless thing. Only by touching the character's eyebrows could she obtain the character's information.

Does she have to say to everyone she meets, "Can I touch your forehead?"

"Nothing special about it." Jiang Jin tapped her brow. As the character panel appeared, her attention was suddenly attracted by four words!

Character warehouse.
