Chapter Nineteen

Chapter Nineteen

The sword tip was only an inch away from her eyes. If it had been any closer, Jiang Chaoyu's eyes would have been ruined. Fortunately, she moved back a little.

He thought he had been discovered, but then he saw the man put his sword away.

Jiang Chaoyu remained vigilant, her hand resting on her soft sword, prepared to fight to the death if discovered. Fortunately, her opponent made no further move.

"Get rid of it!"

After leaving those words, Jiang Chaoyu saw through the crack that these people were throwing the people they had killed into the sea, then pouring oil on them and throwing sparks directly onto the boat.

This place is far from the fishing grounds and docks, so dealing with people here would be an incredibly easy task.

The flames leaped and danced, gradually spreading to every corner of the ship, slowly approaching Jiang Chaoyu's location. Jiang Chaoyu was still observing for any other movements, but now that the fire was about to engulf her, she couldn't worry about anything else and had no choice but to use her skill to leave the area.

"Spatial displacement locked, proceed!"

The approaching fire caught her off guard, and she randomly thought of a direction and went through it.

When I opened my eyes again, I realized that I had gone to the private room of Chunxianglou. There was no one in the room. Perhaps I was too anxious to get to the private room where I had carried out the mission.

Seeing that no one was in the room, he sat down directly on the round stool.

Perhaps it was because she had used her skill twice in one day that Jiang Chaoyu was feeling weak and had to sit on a round stool to recover.

"My lord, please wait in the room. Chunxiang will play for you after she finishes playing the last piece."

That was the voice of the madam of Chunxianglou. She usually only entertained important figures, but it seemed she was currently inviting a very important person to this private room. The footsteps slowly approached, and Jiang Chaoyu, who had just calmed down, tensed up again.

Looking out the window, there was no way to get into the backyard, so I closed the window and looked around at the layout of the room.

There was a screen, perhaps broken, standing in an inconspicuous place, which was a good spot for Jiang Chaoyu, so she had no choice but to crouch down and hide behind it.

As soon as Jiang Chaoyu stepped inside, his mother opened the door behind him, saying, "My lord, please!"

The person being led by the mother looked around, seemingly checking to see if anyone had intruded.

Seeing the man's movements, the maid knew he was somewhat wary. "Don't worry, sir," she said, "this is the most secluded private room in our Chunxiang Pavilion. No one except the people of Chunxiang Pavilion knows about this room."

Upon hearing this, the man was relieved and nodded.

Seeing this, the maidservant withdrew and closed the door behind her.

Jiang Chaoyu planned that if she was discovered later, she would use mind control to distract her for a while, and then escape after she regained her strength.

Jiang Chaoyu found the best clue as soon as she went out today, but how to expose Zeng Chenhua is a difficult problem for her.

"Come out."

Jiang Chaoyu's thoughts were jolted by the sudden sound. She looked through the screen at the person's location, which was the very spot where she had just been resting.

Just as that person was calling someone else, Jiang Chaoyu remained quietly behind the screen without making a sound.

Seeing this, the man finished his tea and smashed the cup against the screen in front of Jiang Chaoyu. The force was so great that it broke through the screen and hit the window paper behind Jiang Chaoyu. The cup spun around at Jiang Chaoyu's feet.

At first, she thought it was a coincidence, but the cup that was thrown at her reminded Jiang Chaoyu that she had been discovered.

Just as Jiang Chaoyu was about to be forced to come out, another person directly fanned the person with their fan, saying, "I didn't expect you to find out even like this."

The person was hiding behind the curtain, and as they passed through it, they struck the screen in front of Jiang Chaoyu. She had thought she had been discovered, but it turned out there was another person hiding there.

That means I didn't notice this person's presence earlier.

Looking through the broken screen, the person who had just entered was clearly Zeng Chenhua. The other person's figure was similar to Zeng Chenhua's, but he had a long scar on his face that ran from his eyebrow to his lip, which looked extremely frightening.

But isn't this scar the mark of another eighth-level criminal wanted by the imperial court? I thought he had escaped the capital during this time. It seems that the most dangerous place is the safest place.

The two began to fight, but it was clear that the criminal was no match for Zeng Chenhua. He had already been forced to retreat several steps, with blood trickling from the corner of his mouth.

The man sneered, "I didn't expect the Second Prince of the current dynasty to be a cripple. If this were to be made public, I wonder if the Second Prince would still be able to achieve his goal?"

Hearing this, Jiang Chaoyu was puzzled. What was the purpose? But in her experience, it was either to want military power or to become emperor. She was tired of seeing those kinds of people.

Faced with this threat, Zeng Chenhua remained unperturbed, closed his fan, and said softly, "I think the court only wants you as a person, regardless of whether you live or die!"

Upon hearing this, the criminal finally realized that he was no match for the Second Prince, especially since he was also wanted by the authorities. He could only say repeatedly, "I was just speaking carelessly. I hope the Second Prince will not be angry."

Jiang Chaoyu didn't really want to watch the two fight, but her strength hadn't recovered yet, so she couldn't use her skills to leave. She could leave after the two fought for a while longer.

Although Jiang Chaoyu thought so, things didn't go as planned.

The screen in front of him was knocked over by the criminal's fan, exposing him completely to the two men.

"I'll use this person as a bargaining chip, hoping the Second Prince will spare my life."

Jiang Chaoyu could hardly believe her eyes. She never expected to be betrayed by someone she had no connection with. Fortunately, she still looked like the fishmonger she had been in front of the two of them.

Even heroes can bend and straighten. Jiang Chaoyu immediately knelt on the ground and pretended to be speechless, babbling out some words, but he made it clear to the two people in front of him that he was just a fishmonger who couldn't speak.

"A mute?" Zeng Chenhua assumed he was mute based on his babbling voice. However, the criminal next to him became anxious, thinking that Zeng Chenhua was not going to kill the mute. He said, "Second Prince, don't underestimate him just because he's mute. He can write things down. It would be better to kill him and let me go. I promise I won't talk."

Hearing the criminal's words, Zeng Chenhua nodded and replied, "That makes sense."

Upon hearing this, the criminal smiled with relief. As long as he killed the mute, he would be able to leave alive. After all, he had heard that the Second Prince was an excellent person, even though he was lame.

The criminal thought Zeng Chenhua would let him go, but the moment he looked at Zeng Chenhua, Zeng Chenhua pulled out a long sword from who-knows-where and stabbed it directly into his heart.

Before the criminal could even react, he could only stare wide-eyed at Zeng Chenhua, muttering, "You broke your promise!" before collapsing to the ground, dying with his eyes wide open.

The man was already dead when Zeng Chenhua casually added, "Credit is nothing compared to the government's rewards for managing money."

He pulled out the sword, took out a handkerchief to wipe the blood-stained blade, and then glanced casually in Jiang Chaoyu's direction.

Jiang Chaoyu thought Zeng Chenhua would let the criminal go, but she didn't expect him to be so ruthless. However, the criminal deserved what he got.

Seeing Zeng Chenhua looking at her, Jiang Chaoyu curled up into a ball, feigning great fear. She was still mentally considering what to do and how to escape. The fact that the fugitive's eyes were fixed in her direction was still somewhat intimidating.

Jiang Chaoyu slowly raised her head. She had been recognized because of her eyes, so she had done extra work on her eyes, which resulted in her current cloudy eyes.

The moment she met Zeng Chenhua's gaze, she was certain he wouldn't recognize her, but then Jiang Chaoyu wondered if he might actually kill her if he didn't.

As Zeng Chenhua approached little by little, Jiang Chaoyu became extremely nervous. Her hand touched the soft sword wrapped around her waist again. If her life was in danger, she would have no choice but to fight him to the death.

But then Zeng Chenhua walked over to him, picked up the teacup he had just knocked over, looked it over, and said, "This cup is really good quality; there's not a crack in it."

Although Zeng Chenhua spoke so calmly, Jiang Chaoyu was truly afraid that he might stab her heart with a sword at any moment.

After wiping her hands on her clothes, she carefully pulled up Zeng Chenhua's trouser leg, then made some incoherent noises and shed tears.

In Zeng Chenhua's eyes, he was a man with a wrinkled face, who was now crying and pulling at his clothes.

Jiang Chaoyu was unaware that she was overacting. She was only focused on adding more emotion and was worried that she had gone too far with her acting. Little did she know that in Zeng Chenhua's eyes, she was a pitiful person.

"Since you can't speak and won't expose my secrets, I can spare your life..."

Upon hearing this, Jiang Chaoyu was instantly delighted, secretly thinking, "It seems the act was very successful."

Unexpectedly, Zeng Chenhua suddenly changed the subject, looking at Jiang Chaoyu's two hands that were clutching his clothes, "However..."

The drawn-out tone was a reminder to Jiang Chaoyu, and following her gaze, Jiang Chaoyu saw her own two somewhat rough hands.

A sense of foreboding washed over him; he wondered if she was going to take her hands. He immediately released Zeng Chenhua's clothes, put his hands down, buried his head, and pondered what to do.

Zeng Chenhua, without saying a word, went to get his own sword and placed it against Jiang Chaoyu's neck.

Jiang Chaoyu only thought for a moment before realizing that her neck was cold. She glanced to the side and saw that it was Zeng Chenhua's sword.

It seems I am doomed to die, but he may not be my match.

Jiang Chaoyu then spoke up directly, lowering his voice and disguising it as the voice that this body should have: "Second Prince, please wait. This humble subject would like to make a deal with the Second Prince!"

When the person spoke up before they met, Zeng Chenhua wasn't surprised, since he knew from the beginning that the person was faking it.

"So it can talk!"

Sheathed the sword that had been resting on Jiang Chaoyu's neck, then placed it back into the hilt, returned to her original position, wiped the teacup clean, and refilled the cup with tea.

Then he picked up a teacup from the table and made another cup of tea.

Place the wiped teacup opposite you, and then drink from the cup you just picked up.

He took a sip of tea and said to Jiang Chaoyu on the ground, "If that's the case, then drink the tea before you start."

Jiang Chaoyu raised her head and saw Zeng Chenhua wiping the cup he had picked up with a blood-stained handkerchief before standing up.

He walked up to the spot but didn't sit down.

"Speak!"
