Han Zhiyuan, professor at the School of Humanities of Shuzhou University, is a well-known political economist in China. Although he has many students and disciples all over the world, he also has many students and disciples in both the political and business circles.
He put down his pen and was just about to take advantage of this rare free time to flip through some books when there was a knock on the door.
He frowned and responded, then saw Huo Qianli appear at the door.
Like a spring breeze in March, Han Zhiyuan's brows relaxed and he smiled, "My favorite student is back!"
Huo Qianli smiled bitterly, "Teacher, you have many students all over the world. How can I be worthy of these four words?"
"No one says that you can only have one favorite student!" Han Zhiyuan is serious in front of outsiders, but he never puts on airs in front of his favorite students.
Huo Qianli placed the fruit on the table beside him, refilled Han Zhiyuan's teacup with hot water as if he were familiar with it, poured himself a cup of boiling water, and sat down opposite Han Zhiyuan.
Han Zhiyuan watched him work silently without stopping him.
Huo Qianli might not be the best among his many disciples over the years, but he is his favorite.
"How are you doing lately? Is everything going well in the village?"
Han Zhiyuan picked up the teacup and took a sip.
Huo Qianli smiled and responded, "Very good."
Han Zhiyuan glanced at him and snorted, "If it was really going well, you would have already started to exaggerate the difficulties and brag to me. You must have encountered some difficulties."
Huo Qianli smiled bitterly and said, "Sure enough, I can't hide it from the teacher's keen eyes."
"You've been with me for several years, how could I not know you!" Han Zhiyuan showed a smug look on his face, glancing at his wrist, "The time is perfect, let's have dinner at my house, I'll ask your mistress to cook two more dishes, and we can drink and chat."
Huo Qian hesitated, "Teacher, I'm afraid today..."
"Hey, Qianli, you know what? I went to see Professor Zhou today." Han Zhiyuan suddenly remembered something and said, "I wanted him to study a project with me, but the old guy didn't agree!"
Huo Qianli blinked in confusion.
Han Zhiyuan held the teacup and said, "I was just wondering, am I really so embarrassed now?"
Huo Qianli pulled the corner of his mouth and said seriously: "Teacher, I'm afraid I drank more than two cups today."
......
"According to what you said, there are indeed a lot of problems!"
At the dinner table, after listening to Huo Qianli's story, Han Zhiyuan frowned.
Poor conditions, scarce resources, ignorant villagers, and most importantly, a village chief who only wants to get by.
He said in a deep voice: "The operating rules in rural areas are different from those in cities. If you want to get things done in rural areas, you must get the support of the village chief. He can help you sort out the network of clan relationships in rural areas."
Huo Qianli scratched his head in distress. "Well, the village chief must be persuaded. But in the end, it has to come down to specific measures. I have been hanging out in the library these weekends, but I haven't come up with any results."
"Don't be too anxious." Han Zhiyuan smiled. "Since the problem in your village is so difficult, it must not be solved in a short time. Think more about it."
"Well, I'll try my best!"
Huo Qianli smiled, raised his glass and clinked glasses with Han Zhiyuan.
After another glass of wine, Han Zhiyuan seemed to be even more drunk. "You don't have any mysophobia, do you?"
Huo Qianli was stunned for a moment, then he smiled and waved his hand after realizing what was happening, "No."
"That's good." Han Zhiyuan tapped the table gently. "Your current future is tied to the future of that village. If you do well, your career will be smooth and they will be out of poverty and become rich. This is a win-win situation. Don't have any unnecessary psychological burden."
Huo Qianli said seriously, "Yes. Teacher, don't worry about this. I actually think I'm quite lucky. Just like you taught us before, after studying, we can't just look up at the glory and wealth, but also look down at the hard-working people. The opportunity given to me by the organization can not only fulfill my personal struggle, but also do something practical for the people and change their lives. I am very satisfied."
"Haha, well said!" Han Zhiyuan smiled with satisfaction, "Then work hard and make some achievements! Your senior brothers and sisters will have a fulcrum if they want to help you. You have to know that it is not easy to help someone in need, but if you want to add icing on the cake, these people will definitely be happy to do so."
Huo Qianli raised his cup tactfully, "Thank you for your support, teacher!"
"Okay, you two, drink less!"
Han Zhiyuan's wife Cheng Suqing brought out a bowl of vegetarian soup from the kitchen and looked at Huo Qianli with loving eyes.
She was very caring towards the old man's disciple, who was smart, honest, kind, and most importantly, good-looking. She was really pleasing to the eye no matter how she looked at him.
Han Zhiyuan smiled and clinked glasses with Huo Qianli, then drank it all in one gulp. "So that's all for tonight? Go to bed early. I'll take you to see someone tomorrow. With his help, your affairs will be much easier."
Seeing Huo Qianli's curious expression, Han Zhiyuan kept it a secret, "You'll know when the time comes."
At night, lying in bed, Cheng Suqing looked at the old man sitting at the bedside reading a newspaper and asked curiously, "Does Xiao Huo really want to train in the countryside for three years?"
Han Zhiyuan nodded.
Cheng Suqing sighed, "I was thinking of introducing him to a girlfriend. Our dean's daughter is coming back soon. That girl is pretty and would be a good match for Xiao Huo."
Han Zhiyuan glanced at her and said, "Let's talk about it in two years."
Cheng Suqing hummed, then asked, "Where did he go?"
"Jingcheng City, Dongjiang County, Hushan Village."
Han Zhiyuan put down the newspaper and looked at the dark night. His deep eyes were no longer calm as before, but full of worry and helplessness.
