Chapter 18 Classmates Come to Visit

Qiu Yuling remembered watching TV and seeing the new recruits being sent off with big red flowers and the beating of drums and gongs, but in reality her second brother passed away quietly.

There was no joy or farewell. We set off in the dark, carrying our grandma's brand blue cloth bag. The team leader informed us that family members were not allowed to see us off, and we set off as soon as we reported.

She didn't know how her second brother said goodbye to the other two brothers in private. She only remembered that his big hands ruffled the hair on the back of her head and told her to eat well and grow up slowly. He then told her to send her a military water bottle and let her carry it to school.

Qiu Yuling's nose felt sore and bitter. These were not peaceful times. She repeatedly told her second brother that he must not miss a day of wearing her sister's brand insoles, and that he must not be reluctant to use them. She kept asking him to swear before letting him go, but she didn't know if he would listen to her.

The low pressure spread to every corner of the Qiu family's house. Even the little rooster was drooping because no one remembered to feed it.

Qiu Yuling's school was on vacation for exams, so she was completely free. Her family was small and her mother was capable, so there was nothing she needed her to do.

She held her chin with her hand and looked at Qiu's mother, who was twisting the hemp rope by the window frame and making "Pooh" sounds, and sighed again out of boredom.

"It would be nice if grandma were here. Her stories about the past are so interesting."

"Let's wait until next year. We'll build an extra room next year. You've been clamoring to sleep alone, haven't you? Then we can invite your grandma to stay for a few days. We can live in the same room with you then."

As winter came and there was free time, Qiu's mother stopped letting Qiu Yuling go to her grandmother's house. The reason was simple: every family was short of food and clothing, and the less they moved, the less they consumed.

However, after a few days of idleness, the team leader rang the gong to notify everyone to hold a meeting in the wheat field. It turned out that it was time to repair the canal again.

Meals are provided and work points are also recorded.

Only Qiu's father and Qiu Dashan went to Qiu Yuling's house. Her third brother originally wanted to do his bit to help, but was ruthlessly suppressed by his mother. Qiu Yuling was frightened just by hearing the bitter words.

The brother and sister couldn't just sit there and do nothing, so they went to Chaigang to collect firewood. It was actually a large windbreak forest, and because there were so many trees, people here called it Chaigang.

What was rare was that Qiu's mother packed a boiled egg for each person.

In fact, Qiu Yuling could do this job alone, but her third brother was also idle. She didn't expect that it was not only the two brothers and sisters who received this task. She picked up several friends, big and small, along the way.

As the eldest cub, the third brother naturally became the leader. In every family, the older ones take care of the younger ones, and there are at least two or three children, so the adults are relieved.

But they were just kids after all, so they easily started pushing and shoving each other. Qiu Dashu stood on the ridge and shouted, and everyone quieted down.

"Third Brother Qiu, Niu Wa stole my sister's firewood."

"Brother Qiu, I didn't steal it. Whoever gets it first gets it. Can it be hers just by looking at it? Then let me see, this piece of firewood is all mine, hahaha..."

"Hahaha, I'm watching too."

"I've seen it all, haha."

As soon as Niu Wa finished speaking, there was a burst of cheering, and everyone was talking at once, trying to decide which piece they had seen. That piece was already theirs...

"What nonsense are you talking about? Everything becomes yours or his. Whoever picks it up owns it. But someone has already walked right up to you. Don't rush to pick it up. The forest is big. Everyone pick up the trash on their own. If I find out who started it first, I'll kick their ass."

Qiu Dashu did not make a clear judgment on who was right or wrong, he just set the rules. You can do whatever you want when he is not around, but you have to follow the rules when he is around.

There are always some troublemakers. Even though Qiu Dashu is older than them, there are still some people who are not convinced. Why should they listen to you?

Qiu Dashu and Qiu Yuling took out their slingshots at the same time, and shot down several sparrows with a "whoosh, whoosh, whoosh" sound above the forest.

"Wow, Third Brother Qiu and Sister Yuling are amazing!"

The little girl who had just been made to cry by Niu Wa was the first to show her support, and immediately a group of young boys gathered around Qiu Dashu, chattering.

There were only four little sparrows. Qiu Dashu nodded and thought that there were eight radish heads, not counting him and his sister. It was not enough to share.

He raised his slingshot and started shooting randomly, hitting two out of ten!

Under her brother's earnest gaze, Qiu Yuling also set up the slingshot, took aim, and fired. "Swoosh", "Duang", nine out of ten shots hit the target!

That miss was intentional, otherwise it would have been too amazing.

For a while, there was cheering and laughter everywhere. The sun was getting brighter at that moment, and many of the little ones started to make noise. Qiu Dashu directed the little ones to build firewood and dig holes in the ground. Even the little troublemaker who was just twisting his body was awkward for a while and then actively joined in.

Soon the aroma of meat came in the air. Qiu Yuling was very resistant and was unwilling to try it no matter how her third brother coaxed her.

Of course, ever since she activated her [Rich Farm], she no longer craves meat. Except for not being able to eat it openly, her foodie level is obviously higher than in her previous life.

To the extent that he is now unanimously labeled as a picky eater by the Qiu family.

After eating the roasted sparrows, the firewood-collecting team returned in a mighty procession. Perhaps people of this era still don't understand what cool means, but many people in the team have already said that the Qiu family's sister is very different.

Qiu Yuling said that she was not pretending to be cool, but she really couldn't act like a real child.

She was tired after a day and just wanted to lie back on the warm kang as soon as possible, but as soon as she entered the door, she was hugged by someone.

"Yuling, you're finally back. I can't wait to go back."

It turned out to be her "good friend" Wang Aihong. Qiu Yuling also found it quite puzzling. Their friendship started in an inconspicuous cold wind. She was misunderstood and "relieved herself", but after walking with her new classmates for a while, she became someone else's good friend.

In her eyes, the other person is still a child, so she may unconsciously be tolerant and forgiving. In fact, she does not feel that she has made any contribution, but this friendship is still so strong because of Wang Aihong.

It's winter vacation, but I still travel all the way over Tian Yueliang to visit her home and play with her.

Unfortunately, she chatted with Qiu's mother for the whole afternoon, and without Qiu's mother asking, she revealed everything about the school that was related to Qiu Yuling.

"Yuling, your little rabbits are so cute and fun. Don't worry, I won't steal them. Auntie said they are a male and a female. When you give birth to little rabbits, you can give me a pair too."

"Yes, sure."

"Yuling, you are so nice, you are indeed one of my best friends!"

"Do you have any other good friends?"

"Yes, let me tell you, I have a big flower at home, a little tiger that can catch mice, and it is also my good friend, haha."

"That's a kitten." Qiu Yuling pulled the arm that was tied around her neck. The damn girl must have wanted to strangle her to death so that she could inherit her rabbit.

I thought she was very popular, but it turns out that except for me who forces people to buy things, no one else can speak human language!
