Chapter 15

◎Regas—The Godslayer◎

"Name? Regas Gamondon. As for the object—tsk~ can this object be alive?" Lan Hua asked.

"Huh? I don't know, no one's tried it." Bern had never encountered such a problem before, because those who came to him for advice were all normal people. As a revered prophet, no one dared to cause trouble in front of him; they all obediently did whatever he was told, except for this person.

Bern asked, "What kind of living thing is it?"

Lan Hua pointed to herself and smiled, "Me? Don't I perfectly fit your requirements?"

His presence, his contact, the deep bond… Bern thought about the conditions he had just mentioned. He had always made these demands of people who came to him for advice, and he had never thought it was wrong. But when Lan Hua asked if it could be alive, and pointed to himself, he suddenly wondered if he had been single for too long, making him prone to misinterpretations. Nevertheless, his face still couldn't help but turn red.

“I’ve never tried using living things.” Bern coughed, realizing he might have misunderstood and his thoughts were impure. He lowered his head slightly to hide the blush on his face, lest he become even more embarrassed. “Besides, the first information I get is the most accurate. When clients come to me, they’re asking about very important matters, so I’m always on the safe side and won’t risk experimenting with uncertain things.”

“Alright.” Lan Hua was a little disappointed. But since it concerned news of Regas, he really didn’t dare to take any risks.

Looking at Lan Hua's radiant and beautiful face, Bern couldn't help but say, "Only by having more contact with something, a deeper connection, and stronger emotional ties can you obtain information more accurately; otherwise, it's easy to fail. If using living things is feasible, even if you have physical contact, it's far from enough."

“I understand,” Lan Hua said.

Bern: "..." So, it wasn't that he misunderstood, it was exactly how he understood it! This beauty was not only violent, but he also openly made lewd jokes! How could a tender young man like him listen to that? Although Bern tried to remain calm, he couldn't help but blush deeply.

"Why are you blushing?" Lan Hua approached Bern and lifted Bern's chin with her fingers. Bern was forced to raise his face to meet Lan Hua's gaze, and even the cold light of the blue flames could not hide his burning red face.

"You're not a virgin, are you?" Lan Hua laughed, watching Bern's expression change from embarrassment to anger, and said, "Could it be that I guessed right?"

"I am a pure prophet!" Berne exclaimed, both ashamed and angry. "I have dedicated my body and soul to my cause! How could I be as vulgar as you mortals who are indulging in love!"

"You probably donated it for money," Lan Hua chuckled and released Bern.

"Give it back to me when you're done. If you dare to bump it, I'll kill you." Lan Hua handed something to Bai En and said gently.

Bern nervously accepted what Lan Hua handed him. He could sense that Lan Hua wasn't threatening him; she was genuinely just informing him. He looked at the object and saw it was a signet ring. The ring face was decorated with a golden dragon, presumably a family crest, and below it was a variation of a name.

"Is this the object that carries that person's aura and bond?" Although he understood in his heart, Bern verbally asked Lan Hua to confirm, just in case.

"Hmm," Lan Hua responded calmly. "You have the name and the item. Tell me, when can you give me an answer?"

“What information do you need from him?” Bern asked.

"Life and death, location." When the topic turned to Regas, Lan Hua's voice seemed to turn frosty.

When Bern received the signet ring, that inexplicable sense of crisis that had accompanied the ominous premonition surged up again and quickly enveloped him. He thought that the ominous premonition coming towards him and the suffocating sense of crisis came from the same person: the dangerous beauty in front of him.

But when he received the signet ring, he realized he was wrong. These two feelings didn't come from the same person; the immense sense of crisis concerning the world didn't originate from the person before him, but from the owner of the signet ring. It was precisely this sense of crisis that forced him to confront this person; otherwise, he would have long ago found various reasons to stay far away from this poppy beauty—beautiful, poisonous, and incredibly lethal.

Regas Gamondon—who exactly is this man?

Bern clutched the ring Lan Hua had given him tightly in his hand, so tightly that the ring dug into his palm, causing a dull ache. He silently recited Regas's full name, then cleared his mind to sense the information emanating from the universe.

Lan Hua watched silently as Bern gradually drifted into a daze. His original personal expression was slowly disappearing. It was the same face, but the indifference and disdain for all living beings didn't belong to Bern. Lan Hua could clearly distinguish that this expression was different from Bern's previous feigned solemnity. This indifference wasn't directed at an individual, but at humanity as a whole. Yet, Lan Hua didn't sense that Bern's body had been taken over by anyone or anything else.

Lan Hua had a vague suspicion: the genes of the "god" might not be a gift, and the shortcut might not be so easy to take, but what did these things have to do with him? He smiled. No matter what method or means he used, all he wanted was information about Regas.

Lan Hua waited quietly, the blue flames on the torch reflecting in his eyes, making them seem to be veiled in an eerie blue. He closed his eyes, awaiting the verdict.

The two stood silently on the altar, motionless, like breathing wax figures. The temple hall was so quiet that one forgot the passage of time.

After an unknown amount of time, Bern's indifferent expression gradually faded, and his personal aura slowly returned to him. Lan Hua opened his eyes when Bern's expression changed. He stared at Bern with a gaze as sharp as a sword, as if trying to see right through him.

Finally, Bern opened his eyes, his gaze filled with terror, and opened his mouth as if to say something.

“Tell me the answer,” Lan Hua said coldly, ignoring the panic on Bern’s face.

"Kill—" Bern had barely uttered a single word when he seemed to suffer a severe blow, a torrent of blood gushing from his open mouth. He collapsed to the ground, a gray shadow covering his once vibrant face, as if life had been swiftly drained from him.

"What?" Lan Hua bent down and supported Bern's body. "If you're going to fall, at least finish speaking first. Is Regas dead or alive? Where is he?"

Bern opened his mouth to say something, but blood gushed from it again, and he coughed painfully. He hadn't lied to Lan Hua; to obtain information, one had to pay a price equal to the energy of that information. He had been injured before, but never so badly, almost to the point of death.

"Drink it." Lan Hua took out a small bottle and handed it to Bern. Bern didn't ask what was in it and poured it all into his mouth.

Aren't you afraid it might be poisonous?

"My intuition tells me this is something that will benefit me," Bern said, a slight smile playing on his lips. After drinking it, Bern felt better, and the blood in his mouth stopped flowing.

"Alright, speak now," Lan Hua said, looking at Bern.

“Godslayer.” Bern tried to calm himself; the news he had received had nearly killed him. “Regas, the invader, the Godslayer! He’s not dead; he’s searching for the key to end this world on planet LM68!”

Bern didn't say much, speaking in a cryptic, almost mystical manner, but the amount of information he conveyed was immense. Lan Hua was taken aback, not because he knew Bern wasn't dead, nor because he knew he was on planet LM68, and he didn't have time to investigate the so-called "godslayer" title, but because of the "intruder" Bern mentioned.

He grabbed Bern's collar and asked through gritted teeth, "Why do you call him an 'intruder'? Did he come here on his own initiative?"

Bern was already weak, and Lan Hua's grip on his collar made him feel like he was suffocating. "Let go, cough cough, I can't breathe. He came here on his own initiative. I don't know his purpose, but he will bring disaster to this world."

Lan Hua laughed in anger. He first chuckled softly, then his laughter grew louder and louder, but his gaze became so cold that it seemed to solidify. "Regas!" But Regas wasn't in front of him right now, and he couldn't find anyone to settle scores with for the time being.

"What does 'godslayer' mean?" Lan Hua asked.

“I don’t know. I only know that his purpose in coming here is related to ‘God’ and also to this universe.” Bern himself didn’t know what was going on. He could obtain information, but he couldn’t know what was behind the information. He could only guess.

“I understand.” Lan Hua closed her eyes briefly. Bern hadn't actually said much, but what he did say was incredibly informative and overturned Lan Hua's previous understanding. It seemed Regas had been hiding many things from him…

Lan Hua glanced at Bern's gold belt studded with gems, thought for a moment, took out a sapphire of similar quality and size to the ruby used as a deposit, and said, "Final payment."

Bern: "..." Does this beauty own a gem mine?

"Um, what do you think of my looks?" Bern thought he was pretty good-looking and should meet the standard for a gigolo.

Lan Hua smiled and said, "It is a person's virtue to know his own limitations." After saying that, he reached out and opened Bern's hand, taking out the signet ring. The variant pattern on the ring was the name of Regas.

"Oh, right, there's one more thing," Lan Hua muttered to herself.

"What is it?" Bern felt a sense of crisis again when Lan Hua said this. He struggled to stand up, but Lan Hua held him firmly.

Lan Hua placed her hand on Bern's head, and her smartwatch lit up. "You cannot retain any memories related to Regas." If what Bern said was true, then if Bern retained all his memories, he and Regas would likely be hunted down the moment he left the temple. Killing the prophet was certainly the best option, but Bern's fame and status were extraordinary, and the impact would be far greater. Lan Hua could only choose to modify some of Bern's memories.

“It’s time to go find His Highness the Crown Prince.” Lan Hua released Bern, who had fallen into a coma due to being forced to alter his memories, stood up, and sneered.
