Chapter 27
◎The war is over◎
The thing that had caused him so much distress was finally destroyed. The complete destruction of the Philosopher's Stone was like a huge signal. The "god-men" who were originally responsible for holding back Regas and his reinforcements abandoned their original battlefields and joined the remaining "god-men" who were responsible for guarding the Philosopher's Stone in launching an angry attack on the South Wind God.
It was this warship that completely annihilated the efforts of their entire race over hundreds of millions of years.
Lan Hua looked out at the screen. Those "gods" who had previously looked down on all living beings with indifference could no longer maintain their composure. Their expressions were now furious and twisted. She smiled disdainfully. A group of refugees who had destroyed their own universe and now wanted to invade others' universes, yet they still acted so high and mighty. Who were they trying to impress?
If these "gods" were at their peak, Lan Hua would likely have prepared for the worst in the face of such a group attack, perhaps even leaving a will. After all, he was a galaxy-level figure; it would be incredibly undignified for him to die without a will. However, these "gods" are now physically dead, forced to rely on cultivating cyborgs with "god" genes to achieve their so-called resurrection. Even their supposed resurrection was prematurely delayed due to Regas's actions, leaving them unprepared to utilize their abilities.
Compared to the world-ending wars that humanity actually experienced millions of years ago but were recorded as myths, such as Ragnarok, Hathor transforming into the Eye of Ra and Sekhmet's destruction of the world, and the war between Gonggong and Zhuanxu, neither the scale of the wars nor the abilities of these "gods" can compare to those of that time.
Therefore, although Lan Hua found it somewhat difficult to deal with these densely packed "divine beings" and attacks that others perceived as devastating, and it could even be said to be one of the most difficult battles and the most intense attacks he had ever experienced in his life, it was not insurmountable for him.
"Warning—Warning—Severe damage to the starboard side of the ship." Notos, the main control AI of the South Wind God, issued an alarm, and a screen also displayed a scarlet warning that the Lan Hua ship had suffered severe damage, causing some of the warship's functions to malfunction.
“The God of the South Wind has never suffered such great damage since leaving the space dock. These ‘gods’ seem to be more than just empty names.” Lan Hua chuckled as she looked at the enlarged angry faces on the screen.
With its starboard side damaged, the Southwind could no longer maintain complete stability as before. Lan Hua could already feel the vibrations and turbulence in the command center. However, Lan Hua was a genius at operating starships. Besides his mastery of routine starship operations, his unimaginable maneuvers and serpentine maneuvers were the main reasons why he was renowned throughout the universe, inspiring both fear and helplessness. In his hands, starships were practically like figurines, handled with ease. Therefore, even with the starboard side damaged and unable to maintain complete balance and stability, Lan Hua quickly adjusted the warship's course and tilt angle, compensating for the imbalance caused by the damaged parts, without affecting the ship's adjustments and course maneuvers during combat.
Although Lan Hua was not afraid of these "divine beings" attacking him all at once, and had even eliminated many of them in the battle, he couldn't withstand the fact that these "divine beings" came out in droves, like leeks that could be harvested once and then sprout up again.
"My hands are so sore," Lan Hua murmured. The attacks of these "god-like beings" were dense and comprehensive, like a net covering the sky. Moreover, they were completely different from the technological battles of their universe, leaving no time for the AI, designed for technological warfare, to adjust or engage in deep learning. Therefore, Lan Hua had to rely on manual piloting and defense to carry out the attacks.
Although Lan Hua remained calm and composed, the intensity of the battle was among the highest of all the battles he had ever experienced, and the energy and stamina consumed were astonishing. Only someone with Lan Hua's exceptional mental strength and physical abilities could maintain top-notch focus under such intense attacks and even find tricky angles to take down several waves of "god-like figures" in one fell swoop. However, this also required the aid of Panacea Water. While fighting, Lan Hua kept a bottle of Panacea Water in his mouth, and occasionally took the opportunity to throw the empty bottle into the trash can.
Although Lan Hua was targeted by concentrated fire, the battle was intense and the attacks were frequent, which made it quite exhausting for him. He even had to take the potions he had previously looked down on. However, the duration of the attack was short, but the intensity was high.
While Lan Hua complained that these "god-like" opponents were as numerous as flies, making his hands ache from swatting them, Regas and the other reinforcements joined the battle. The pressure on Lan Hua's side eased dramatically, and he could finally put down his potion bottle. He'd planned to pick off the weak and get into some fighting on the side, but his tendency to be the center of attention wherever he went rendered him incapable of keeping a low profile, predictably making him the most dazzling figure on the entire battlefield. Lan Hua shook his head slightly; there was nothing he could do, he was born to shine, always the center of attention.
With less pressure on Lan Hua, they naturally have more energy to think about tactics. Therefore—
To others, the South Wind God's movements were more cunning and its positioning more unpredictable than before, and it wiped out several waves of enemies with a single attack.
"My lord, the commander of this warship is a genius," Kessel said to Cheng Wenfei. He had noticed the warship when it appeared, as its appearance was indeed unusual. However, easily breaking through the "god-like" blockade, finding the precise time and angle to successfully shatter the Philosopher's Stone with a single attack, and even managing to defend and counterattack with ease while being attacked by almost all the "god-like" beings—these were feats beyond the capabilities of ordinary people. Kessel admitted that he could never do even one of them. Looking at all the high-ranking generals of various countries, very few could achieve even one of these feats. If he hadn't witnessed it with his own eyes, he wouldn't have believed that this was something an ordinary person could accomplish, because it required calculation and reaction abilities far more precise and rapid than those of an AI.
"Whoever this person is, he shouldn't be one of us." Cheng Wenfei said, looking at the warship on the screen whose movements were incredibly unpredictable. "This warship couldn't have been built with the technology of our universe." Moreover, Cheng Wenfei knew everything about the weapons and even the leaders of the ordinary people's alliance.
"What a pity." Kessel understood that Cheng Wenfei was right. Both the weaponry and the tactics indicated that the commander of this warship did not belong to their camp. If such a person existed in their universe, he would certainly not have remained unknown. He really wanted to get to know this person and communicate with him, after all, the opportunity to meet and communicate with such a person might not come again in his lifetime.
“If it’s someone from Regas’s side, we might be able to meet him later.” As his superior, Cheng Wenfei naturally understood what Kessel was thinking, and besides, he also wanted to meet this person.
Lan Hua was naturally unaware of Cheng Wenfei and Kessel's conversation. His attention was entirely focused on the familiar warship appearing on the screen—the Renault. The Renault belonged to Regas and, like the South Wind God, was a super-star warship. In the public's mind, the South Wind God was synonymous with cunning and unpredictable tactics, while the Crown Prince Regas's Renault, like Regas himself, was known for its composure, power, and invincibility.
The appearance of the Renault signaled to Lan Hua that it was time for a rest. So, a strange scene unfolded: the previously agile South Wind suddenly vanished, only to reappear—on the port side of the Renault, its hull shrunk, fitting snugly and naturally like a pendant against the Renault's port side… This practiced maneuver, this precise fit, was clearly not a first-time occurrence. With one hand, it appeared "petite," and with the other, it successfully landed and diverted the fighting, without compromising the South Wind's character—the ship reflected its owner.
Lan Hua successfully embedded his warship into the Renault, then relaxed back in his chair, occasionally shaking his hands to loosen his tense muscles, while also having the AI repair the warship's damaged parts. The battle outside was fierce, but it was irrelevant to him; he once again became a leisurely bystander.
"It will be quite necessary to keep drinks and sunflower seeds readily available in the particle space in the future," Lan Hua muttered to himself. He was also constantly optimizing his particle space through practice.
Aside from repairing its damaged hull, the only other function of the Southwind was its screen, which was transmitting real-time updates on the battle outside. Outside, sandstorms raged, flames burned, and the scene resembled an apocalyptic wasteland. The number of "god-men" had dwindled sharply, but equally, warships were exploding and crashing one after another. The Renault, initially stable, later began to rock violently, suffering considerable damage. However, the port side, where the Southwind was located, should have taken the brunt of the attack, but in reality, it was the least damaged part of the ship.
In the command cabin of the God of the South Wind, all lights except for the display screen went out. Outside, battle raged; inside, it was dark and turbulent, filled with an eerie silence and a blurring of time and space, giving one the illusion of vanishing. Lan Hua lay quietly on the command seat, expressionless, his eyes dark and unfathomable; no one could read his emotions.
Until a violent tremor shook the air, Lan Hua's icy expression seemed to shatter, and she seemed to remain the same carefree and unrestrained Lan Hua, unchanged.
The violent tremors did not originate from the South Wind God, but from the Reynolds, which was possessed by the South Wind God. The war ended, and the Reynolds landed. Due to its battle damage, the Reynolds' landing was not as smooth as when it was intact, and the tremors were transmitted to the South Wind God.
"It's over." Lan Hua smiled lazily, her gaze falling on the command signal on the screen requesting the hatch to be opened—it was from Regas. Regas was currently outside the hatch of the God of the South Wind, all alone.
The war temporarily stripped Regas of his gentle facade, revealing his true nature—his usual composure, but far from gentle; a sharp edge beneath his cold arrogance, like a drawn sword stripped of its ornate sheath. Lan Hua was drawn to this dangerous, yet deadly, quality hidden beneath his disguise, a quality that both captivated and fascinated him.
Regas really does understand him.
