37? Chapter 37

Chapter 37

Will you attend this wedding?

Riel stood up, strode over to Regas, and reached out to pinch Regas's face to see if he had a bionic one. Although—a bionic face couldn't be determined by touch—Riel just wanted to show his astonishment and his brother's unusual behavior.

"Are you really my brother?" Riel exclaimed. His brother seemed approachable but was actually quite aloof; how could he possibly care about such gossip?

Before Riel's claws could even touch Regas's face, Regas blocked them and threw them back, saying calmly, "Yeah, I'm not your brother."

Lille: "..." That's a really lame joke. Well, even though he started it. But he didn't expect his fake brotherhood with his brother to be so fragile, leaving him heartbroken. He and his brother used to joke like that too, but his brother used to be so aloof that he would simply ignore it. Compared to his former perfect, otherworldly deity, his brother now seemed more human, more like a living, breathing person. Although these changes made him a little uncomfortable, even a little unsettling because of their unfamiliarity... he preferred his brother the way he was now.

"Did that vixen change you?" Riel clicked his tongue.

"Don't mention that name to him in person again." Regas didn't answer Riel's question, but reminded his silly younger brother out of blood ties.

"What would happen if I brought it up?" Riel didn't realize that Regas had steered his conversation off-topic. But he was genuinely curious about this vixen. After all, his brother hadn't denied the woman's existence or her influence on him, which meant it was all true. He was practically dying of curiosity; someone who could move his brother and have such an impact on him shouldn't exist in his mind! Compared to his brother's gossip, Osei's gossip seemed utterly unappealing.

"You'll see next time you try," Regas chuckled.

Upon hearing Rega's words and seeing Rega's expression, Riel suddenly felt it was best not to do it... But who was this person?! He was dying of curiosity!

"Brother, brother, brother, you're my own brother! Tell me quickly, who is that person?" Riel plopped down next to Regas, grabbed Regas's left arm, and shook it as he asked.

“You’ll find out later,” Regas said.

Lil had practically grown up alongside Regas. While other matters might be intricately connected or convoluted by various reasons, making them incomprehensible to Lil, Regas wouldn't explain them to him. However, in private matters, Regas was always straightforward, and would directly answer Lil's questions. Lil also understood what he could and couldn't ask; this was the realm of what he could ask. Now, Lil had asked several times, yet still hadn't received a definite answer. This was unlike Regas's usual style.

"You haven't—you still haven't won her over, have you?" Riel suddenly had a bold guess, a guess so bold that even he found it unbelievable, even wondering if he'd lost his mind. After all, how could there be someone even his brother couldn't win over? His brother could just beckon with a flick of his finger—no, he didn't even need to beckon—and the number of people wanting to pursue him could overwhelm the entire capital planet. But, besides that, he couldn't think of any other explanation for this situation.

"I suppose so," Regas said after a moment's thought. If he were to accept his current assessment, then he hadn't truly won Lan Hua's heart.

"Ah—" Lille was shocked, stunned on the spot. Who was he? Where did he come from? Where was he going?

Regas stared at Riel, who was petrified, before finally reminding him, "Snap out of it."

"Oh," Lille replied mechanically, still in shock and unable to process what was happening.

"Sit back down," Regas said calmly, looking at Riel, who was clinging to his arm and pressed close to his side. He wasn't used to having someone so close to him for so long.

“Oh.” Riel stood up blankly and sat back down. Regas could tell from his expression that he was still immersed in the conversation and hadn’t come back to his senses.

Regas remained silent, leaving Riel in a daze. He sat quietly in a relaxed posture, his eyes dark beneath his slightly lowered eyelids.

"Brother, I hope your wish comes true." Riel was starting to admire that person. To make his brother's heart flutter was already extraordinary; to make his brother's heart flutter and still not be able to win him over was simply inhuman!

Thank you for your kind words.

Lille: "..." He felt that in his brother's eyes, his teasing made him look like a clown.

Although Lille was very curious about this person, he knew that he wouldn't get any answers by asking. He had really brought this trouble upon himself; he was now so curious that he was itching for answers, but he couldn't get any. This feeling was so uncomfortable and suffocating.

He decided to abandon that topic and return to his original topic. Um… where was he? Oh, it was about Osei's first marriage and subsequent broken engagement. He thought his brother wouldn't pay attention to this kind of gossip, but it turned out his brother knew about Osei's first marriage partner.

"What do you think of Lan Ye's looks?" Riel asked cheekily.

“Beautiful,” Regas chuckled. Even without bias or a fair judgment, Lan Hua was indeed exceptionally beautiful, almost unparalleled in the world. So beautiful that he was unconsciously captivated from the very first moment he saw her.

Lil slapped his thigh. "Yeah, I think Lan Ye really deserves the title of the Empire's most beautiful woman. But Osei actually betrayed him like this! It would have been better to just cancel the wedding, but he had to make her lose face in the whole universe like this. It's so tasteless! Anyone with a thin skin would probably commit suicide."

At this point, Riel shook his head, giving Ouse a look of disdain, and continued, "But Lan Ye isn't doing much better. It's said he's been admitted to the Stafal Sanatorium." Although he didn't know for sure if Lan Ye was actually there, he was certain that even if he was, it wasn't Ouse who sent him. Lan Ye was taken away by people from the Lan family; if anyone was sent, it was the Lan family. The royal family is being unfairly blamed.

When Regas heard Riel's words, and recalled the days he spent with Lan Hua, almost completely isolated from the universe, the faint smile on his face became much more genuine. Lan Hua's actions, however absurd, seemed utterly justifiable.

However, he disliked the association of Osei's name and Lan Hua's face. Or rather, he disliked the public knowing that Lan Hua had romantic relationships with anyone else, even if it was false. Regas concealed the coldness in his eyes. He was usually a very patient person, but with Osei, he seemed to be losing patience. However, he couldn't touch Osei yet; he had to wait until the wedding—

"I hope his wedding goes smoothly," Regas said calmly.

"Huh?" Riel froze for a second after hearing Regas's words. He hadn't even gotten to this part yet, and his brother had already skipped the whole process and gone straight to the end... Although his brother wasn't interested in gossip, he had always been a quiet listener, rarely offering opinions or trying to keep up with his pace, no matter what he said. Something was wrong, really wrong!

“Brother!” Lille protested, “You’re skipping the beat; I haven’t even gotten to this part yet.”

“Okay, you can continue,” Regas said.

Lille: "..." How did his brother go from a perfect listener to a conversation killer... What went wrong?

"Anyway, Lan Ye hasn't been heard from since then. We don't know what the Lan family did to him," Riel sighed. Being born into the Lan family is considered extremely lucky by most people, given the Lan family's fierce protectiveness and immense power. Osei initially wanted to marry Lan Ye precisely because of his Lan family background. Unfortunately, Lan Ye was just an unloved illegitimate child, practically irrelevant to the Lan family. Even Lan Yang, who wasn't from the Lan family, was far more important than Lan Ye.

“He’s fine.” Regas could imagine how furious Lan Hua must have been with Duke Lanxi.

"You've seen the news these past few days too?" Lil raised an eyebrow. "Lan Ye has actually made a comeback, so he must be alright. But—"

"He just posted an announcement on Xingbo, without even showing his face. We don't know if it's true or not, after all, Xingbo's account could be controlled by someone." Riel was actually skeptical about the news of Lan Ye's comeback. But that wasn't the point. Why did he feel that his brother seemed to be paying extra attention to Lan Ye?

"You seem to be paying special attention to Lan Ye?" Riel looked at Regas suspiciously. "You never used to care about gossip." Even if you knew about this matter and the people involved, you wouldn't mention it in your conversation.

“Because he is beautiful,” Regas said.

Lille: "..." He felt like his brother was using his words to shut him down, but he hadn't recorded it!

"Can't you come up with a better reason? You're not the kind of person who gets easily swayed by looks," Riel said, disgruntled. For anyone else, this reason might be reasonable, but for Regas, it was far too perfunctory. Even if his brother wasn't attracted to beautiful women, he wouldn't be interested in anyone else's appearance while looking at his own reflection in the mirror every day. It's true that Lan Ye's face is fatally attractive to others, but not to his brother; his brother's own face is the best weapon against any kind of beauty.

“Just telling the truth,” Regas said.

Lille snorted: "Could you be any more perfunctory?"

He continued, "After Osser broke off the engagement on the spot, he got engaged to Gani Subek not long after. She's the young master of the Subek family, good-looking, but with a terrible personality in private." Gani's scandalous affairs might not be known to others, but they couldn't be kept secret from the upper-class aristocratic circles.

As he spoke, Riel shook his head and clicked his tongue. "Osei is really something, willing to sell himself again and again to climb the social ladder. He's a disgrace to the Gaimonton family." The worst part is, it was all in vain. The first time they went to the Lan family, but Lan Ye was all show and no substance; the Lan family completely ignored him. The second time they went to the Subec family, but his brother had returned, so even ten Subec families wouldn't have been of any use.

"So, are you going to watch the wedding in Ossa this time?" After rambling on for a long time, Lille finally revealed his true purpose.

Ose's first wedding garnered nationwide attention and was even broadcast across the entire universe due to its special background. At that time, Regas's disappearance cast a shadow over the entire empire, requiring a grand celebration to dispel this lingering gloom. Furthermore, Lan Ye was one of the most popular celebrities in the entertainment industry at the time, which contributed to the immense attention and the presence of many VIP guests. However, the disappointing Ose managed to turn the wedding into a farce. Now that Regas has returned, Ose's wedding is only good enough to make headlines in the entertainment section. After all, his partner is Gani, and Lan Ye was previously caught up in the controversy, so there's still some buzz and discussion. But the real significance is completely gone.

Lille guessed that most people would probably only send representatives to the wedding, including his brother. He was only there to gossip and ask his brother if he would be going to watch the fun.

Regas responded casually.

"Huh?" Riel thought he had misheard and couldn't help but ask to confirm, "You're going?"

“I will be there,” Regas said, glancing at Riel before adding, “You’d better not go.”

Lille: "...!" What's going on?!
