Chapter 3 Sharing Food

Upon noticing someone behind them, one of the men immediately swung a stick at the girl.

The girl was quite agile, dodging the man's attack with a sidestep, and then stabbing him in the abdomen with a dagger.

The man whose arm had just been slashed by Wang Bin recognized her at a glance. Knowing how formidable she was, he didn't hesitate and immediately turned and ran.

"Catch up with him, don't let him get away!"

The girl wanted to draw her dagger and chase after the fleeing man, but her hand was held tightly by him, so she had no choice but to let Wang Bin, who was standing nearby, chase after the man.

Wang Bin didn't know why he was chasing that person, but he didn't hesitate to grab his entrenching tool and give chase. Unfortunately, he was carrying a large bag of food, so he was too slow to catch up. In addition, the commotion they made had already alerted the surrounding zombies, and quite a few of them were already staggering toward them.

The girl kicked the other person to the ground, then shouted at Wang Bin, "Run!"

Hearing the girl's shout, Wang Bin glanced at the zombies rushing towards him and quickly followed her.

The girl was very familiar with the surrounding terrain. Unlike Wang Bin, she didn't run on the street, but instead ran through the ruins, quickly leaving the zombies far behind.

Running through the ruins like this has one advantage: it makes it harder for people to spot you.

In the apocalypse, zombies are terrifying, but they lack intelligence. As long as you run out of their sight, you're basically safe.

But it's different for people. Once someone targets you, you're only safe if you kill them.

Moreover, the other party is hiding in the shadows while you are in the open, so you have no idea when danger will strike.

Even after shaking off the zombies, the girl did not stop and continued to run through the ruins.

Wang Bin was very tired carrying a bag of food, but he knew he couldn't stop, so he had to grit his teeth and keep up. Fortunately, he had run every day in middle school, so his physical fitness was pretty good.

The two ran for almost an hour before the girl led Wang Bin to a relatively remote ruin.

There are many houses here, mostly two- or three-story villas, and the houses are overgrown with weeds, making it very desolate.

The girl glanced at Wang Bin, who was exhausted, and ran into one of the houses.

Once Wang Bin saw that they had arrived at their destination, he ran inside as well.

But as soon as he ran inside, a dagger was pressed against his neck.

"Don't move! Put that electric shock thing of yours on the ground!"

Wang Bin was so exhausted he was practically a dog. He didn't care about anything else and just lay down on the ground, panting heavily.

"No, don't be impulsive, we can talk this out!"

Seeing that Wang Bin was really exhausted, the girl stood warily to the side with a dagger in her hand.

"You, you just need to not hurt me, and I can give you more food!"

The girl's eyes lit up at the mention of food, but she remained wary.

To gain the girl's trust, Wang Bin took out a stun gun, waved it in front of her, and then threw it in front of her.

Based on their first encounter and the help she gave him, Wang Bin believed that the girl was actually quite kind-hearted. Of course, if her bottom line was crossed, she would stop at nothing to kill the person.

The girl didn't pick up the stun gun from the ground. Instead, she kicked it aside. She wasn't sure if Wang Bin had tampered with it. If he picked it up and got shocked like last time, he could really lose his life.

Seeing that the girl didn't reach for the stun gun, Wang Bin opened his backpack and took out handfuls of food and drinks.

Seeing the bread, braised eggs, sausages, biscuits, spicy strips, spicy peanuts, rice crackers, candy, beef jerky, duck necks, baijiu, red wine, cola, and coffee on the ground, the girl was so surprised she could hardly close her mouth. These things are luxuries nowadays; most people can't even see them, let alone eat them. Yet this person in front of her had produced so many at once.

"If you let me stay here for seven days, I'll give you half of all this stuff!"

"What? Give me half? Give me half?"

"Hmm, I'll give you half, I can't finish it all by myself anyway!"

Since it was Wang Bin's first time in the apocalypse, he didn't know what would happen, so he brought a lot of food. If he ate it sparingly, it would be enough for him to live for twenty days. Giving half of it to the girl would also be enough for him.

"Where did you get all this food?"

"I can't tell you that, but if you let me stay here for seven days, I'll share half of my food with you. And if we meet again, I'll give you even more food."

The girl knew that the location where the food was hidden was a person's biggest secret, and she didn't want to force Wang Bin, so she nodded.

"Since you've agreed, let's get to know each other. My name is Wang Bin, what's yours?"

"My name is Guan Xiaoyue, you can just call me Xiaoyue!"

"Okay, Xiaoyue, could you give me a room?"

"You stay in that room, but this is my room. You are not allowed to enter my room without my permission, and I will not enter yours either!"

"Okay, then you can take this food!"

Wang Bin took the remaining half-packet of food, went into his room, and then closed the door.

After searching the room, he found that Guan Xiaoyue had boarded up the windows. As long as the door was blocked, he would be safe.

Besides a bed, there was a wardrobe, a dressing table, and two stools in the room, which seemed to be a woman's room.

He opened the wardrobe and saw that there were still many clothes inside, but they were all covered with cobwebs. When he opened the drawer of the dressing table, his eyes lit up immediately, because there was a beautiful diamond necklace and some jewelry in the drawer.

Wang Bin excitedly took out the diamond necklace and wiped off the dust. He discovered that the diamond necklace was worth at least several hundred thousand yuan in modern society, and with the other jewelry, it was worth at least a million yuan.

Wang Bin swallowed hard. If he took these jewels to modern society and sold them, he would be rich!

However, he ultimately decided to ask Guan Xiaoyue first. If these things belonged to her, he planned to exchange them for food.

When Wang Bin opened the door with the diamond necklace in his hand, he was stunned. He saw Guan Xiaoyue wolfing down a sausage, her mouth almost full, yet she kept stuffing more into it.

This scene is so awkward. Wang Bin thinks he should leave for a while and wait until Guan Xiaoyue finishes eating before coming out.

Guan Xiaoyue was a little embarrassed, so she quickly took a sip of cola and mumbled, "Is there something wrong?"

"There's plenty of food, you can eat slowly, no rush!"

Guan Xiaoyue nodded, signaling him to continue.

"I'm looking for you because I wanted to ask if you sell these pieces of jewelry."

"Take it if you like, these things are useless to me!"

When Guan Xiaoyue heard that Wang Bin was talking about this, she waved her hand dismissively and continued eating her sausage.

"Oh, you gave me all these things?"

"Yes, yes, you can take it if you want. Nobody wants these things!"

"Nobody wants it?"

Wang Bin's eyes lit up when he heard this, as if he had found a way to get rich.
