It has to be said that Uncle Li's trick of putting coke at the bottom was very effective; many of them rushed up and were burned to death.
The rotting flesh on the zombies is also flammable; as long as the charred remains underneath, the zombies will basically be unable to get up.
After resting for a while, Wang Bin saw that the zombies wouldn't be able to break through the third line of defense anytime soon, so he handed it over to A Bao and went to inspect other areas.
Most of the city wall on the uphill slope is fine, only a small section is a little dangerous because the slope is not very steep.
"Quickly tell Uncle Li to have someone bring up some timber and ten barrels of gasoline!"
"yes!"
Someone answered and hurriedly ran into the valley to find Uncle Li. Not long after, an old man and a child came to the city wall carrying timber and gasoline.
Wang Bin first had people throw timber below the city wall, then poured gasoline on it, and then set the gasoline on fire.
With a loud boom, flames shot up from below the city wall, blocking the zombies, and everyone was finally able to sit down and rest for a while.
Then Wang Bin gathered the men with individual flamethrowers. He assigned fifty men to the third line of defense, while the others were sent to support their comrades in other areas. He also divided ten men into two groups to patrol the city walls and provide support to any area in danger.
With the fifty men Wang Bin had dispatched carrying individual flamethrowers, the city wall on the hillside was much safer. However, the gasoline consumption was too high, and it was uncertain how long it could last.
Another four or five hours passed, and it was already three in the morning.
After a day of intense fighting, everyone's hands were aching terribly, and many couldn't even hold their weapons. What made it even more despairing was that the zombies kept coming in waves, giving the impression that there was no end in sight.
Here at the third line of defense, after so much time, the charred remains below have almost burned out, and the zombies have begun to slowly pile up again, now only three or four meters away from the city wall.
This third line of defense was extremely successful. Not to mention anything else, these charred remains alone killed hundreds of thousands of zombies, and below them were all zombie skeletons.
These cokes, while killing zombies, also give those responsible for defending the area time to rest.
Two more hours passed, and as dawn approached, the zombies were only a little over a meter away from the third line of defense. If things continued like this, the zombies would eventually break through the third line of defense. Wang Bin was extremely anxious, considering how to break out if the third line of defense was breached.
Time passed second by second, and the zombie horde was able to easily jump onto the city wall and fight Wang Bin and his men. In a short time, the casualties on the third line of defense became very high, and they had to transfer people from other places to assist in the defense.
Many people, let alone wielding a weapon, can barely walk straight; it's all from exhaustion.
Everyone has been fighting non-stop for so long, and they are already exhausted. Those who can continue to fight now are fighting only by their own willpower.
Seeing that the third line of defense was becoming increasingly dangerous, Uncle Li finally led the elderly and children to rush up and fight alongside everyone.
With the addition of these people, the third line of defense was finally stabilized.
Everyone knew that if this line of defense couldn't be held, none of them would survive, so everyone was prepared to die to stop the zombies.
As dawn broke, everyone discovered that while there were still many zombies below the city wall, there were fewer zombies behind it.
Seeing this, everyone cheered excitedly, looking as if they had won a great victory. Their hearts were filled with hope, and they swung their already broken swords and axes with high morale, hacking at the zombies that were climbing up.
By this time, everyone's superpowers had long been exhausted, and they were fighting solely based on their physical abilities and willpower.
After fighting for more than an hour, finally no more zombies rushed uphill, and only a few scattered zombies were wandering in the distance.
"Everyone, take a break!" Wang Bin shouted.
At Wang Bin's shout, everyone around him closed their eyes and, before they could even cheer, collapsed onto the zombie corpses and fell asleep.
Some people had their eyes closed, but they were still swinging their weapons and slashing at the air in front of them.
"Uncle Li, quickly find someone to carry everyone down!"
When Wang Bin saw this scene, his eyes welled up with tears.
Uncle Li agreed and then called on the old people and children to carry their unconscious companions away.
Wang Bin didn't rest. Instead, he rushed down to the corpses of the zombie horde and used his Fire Dragon Spear to kill the zombies wandering around.
His internal energy is now completely depleted, and it will be drained as soon as it recovers a little. He can only fight by relying on his martial arts skills.
Some people who were still able to walk saw Wang Bin rush down to kill the wandering zombies, and they followed him down.
Wang Bin saw that these people didn't speak, but just smiled and nodded to them to express their gratitude. They smiled and nodded back, then waved their weapons to kill the scattered zombies.
This is their home, and Wang Bin doesn't want zombies to crawl in and attack them while they're asleep, so he has to clear out all the zombies around them before they're safe.
When the people on the city wall on the hillside received the order to rest, most of them went black and collapsed on the ground, falling into a deep sleep, soon followed by a chorus of snores.
What does it mean to have so many people snoring together? Normally, it would definitely keep others from sleeping. But now, let alone this little bit of snoring, even if you stabbed them with a sword, they probably wouldn't wake up until they'd had enough sleep.
