When Wang Bin opened his eyes again, it was already evening. Guan Xiaoyue and Jin Yuanyuan were still sleeping beside him, but Miao Ruyun had already woken up and was busy outside.
After glancing at the two people who were still fast asleep, Wang Bin quietly walked out of the house and went outside.
There were already several thousand people working outside. When they saw Wang Bin come out, they just smiled and waved or nodded at him so as not to disturb their sleeping companions. Wang Bin waved back and then found Miao Ruyun, who was leading people to work.
"Why are you up so early?" Wang Bin asked with a smile.
"I went to bed earlier than you, so I woke up first!" Miao Ruyun said with a smile.
Wang Bin once taught Zhao Qianqian the Sunflower Acupuncture Technique. Miao Ruyun fell asleep early after Zhao Qianqian struck her sleeping acupoint, so she woke up relatively early as well.
Most of those awake now are elderly people and children. They had been working as support staff and only went up to fight at the very end to hold the third line of defense. They were also in the best physical condition.
As for those who have been fighting all along, most of them have not yet woken up.
"Are you hungry? Come on, let's go get something to eat first, and then we can have a proper celebration when everyone wakes up tonight!" Miao Ruyun said with concern.
"Hmm, have the casualty statistics been compiled yet?" Wang Bin replied and walked towards the cafeteria with Miao Ruyun.
"More than 8,000 people died, more than 1,000 were seriously injured, and the number of minor injuries is impossible to count. We can only examine them carefully after they wake up!" Miao Ruyun said sadly.
"Sigh, so much!" Wang Bin couldn't help but feel a little sad when he heard this number.
The town had a population of over 70,000, and with many surrounding tribes coming to join them, the town's population reached around 100,000. In this battle, nearly one-tenth of them died, which is indeed a large number.
Fortunately, the zombies attacking them were only a small fraction of the total; otherwise, the consequences would have been unimaginable. Not to mention, even if there were another million, they definitely wouldn't have been able to hold out.
As they talked, the two headed toward the canteen, which was already full of soldiers who had just woken up. When they saw Wang Bin and Miao Ruyun come in, they all raised their cups. Wang Bin waved to them and then joined the queue to get his food.
Everyone wanted to let Wang Bin go first, but Wang Bin didn't step forward. He just stood at the back of the line with a smile.
Wang Bin and his classmates had developed a habit of not receiving any special treatment when eating in the cafeteria; they always lined up for food with everyone else. This habit has remained unchanged, and since everyone saw Wang Bin's insistence, they didn't say anything more.
After finishing his meal, Wang Bin went to find Uncle Li to discuss their next steps.
Jin Zhiyuan and several other elite superhumans were present, so they started discussing things together. Uncle Li first read the compiled data to everyone, and then explained the work that was currently underway before discussing the next steps.
Wang Bin thought for a moment and said, "The most urgent task now is to find a place to live and settle everyone down. Then we need to bury our fallen comrades, collect the supplies outside the city and find out where the zombie horde went, and finally collect the magic cores."
Uncle Li said, "I agree with Wang Bin's opinion. Let's discuss our place of residence first."
Soon everyone was expressing their opinions, mentioning many different places, some saying to move back to Fuzhou, others to an island, and still others to a high mountain.
After listening, Wang Bin said, "Let's not consider Fuzhou and the islands. I think we can move to a dangerous mountain. That way, it will be much easier for us to deal with the zombies."
Since Wang Bin said he wanted to move to the mountains, everyone started discussing which mountain to move to. Everyone was familiar with the surrounding terrain, and soon they decided on a mountain.
The mountain is called Wangyue Peak. It is not only the highest mountain in the area, but also very large. It can easily house 100,000 people. The only problem is that the water source is a bit far from the farmland. People have to go down the mountain to farm. However, these are minor issues. Everyone is a superhuman with good physical strength and speed, so this distance is nothing. It is only the water source that is a bit troublesome.
After thinking about it, Wang Bin could only send someone to investigate and see if they could find a water source on the mountain. If not, they would have to set up water pipes to pump water up the mountain.
These are not problems for Wang Bin; he can buy the materials as long as he goes back.
When discussing housing, Wang Bin also proposed the idea of dwarves digging caves in the mountains, as seen in mythology. Whether it would work or not would depend on having experts examine the mountain.
Time flew by, and more and more people woke up. Li Dazhu and the others also woke up and joined the discussion.
At eight o'clock in the evening, Sister Liu walked in with a smile and said, "The bonfire party is all ready, we can start the celebration banquet!"
Upon hearing this, everyone stopped discussing, laughed, stood up, and walked out of the room.
As everyone walked out of the house, they all stood up and cheered. Wang Bin and the others walked with smiles on their faces to the largest bonfire in the middle.
Wang Bin raised his hand, and everyone immediately fell silent. Then, he channeled his inner strength and shouted, "Brothers and sisters, we have won!"
Upon hearing this, everyone cheered excitedly again. After a while, Wang Bin continued, "Although we have won, our home has been destroyed by the zombies. But don't worry, we have found a better and safer place to live. Once we have built it up, no matter how many zombies there are, they won't be able to get through."
