Chapter 8 Selling Gems

Wang Bin left the coffee shop, not feeling sad, because he had more important things to do.

He originally planned to give Zhao Qian jewelry worth hundreds of millions, but unfortunately she wasn't lucky enough to receive it. If she had waited just one more day to make things clear, the necklace would have been hers.

Wang Bin quickly returned to his dormitory, which was now empty, making it convenient for him to organize his spoils.

He took a shower first, and then changed into the suit he had bought some time ago.

He's almost a senior in college and has already started looking for internships. In order to get an interview, he bought a suit, just like everyone else.

He brought too much jewelry and gold this time to sell all at once, so he plans to go to the pedestrian street in the city center tonight to sell some first and see how the market goes.

Wang Bin took ten gemstones, two necklaces, and five gold bars, then took a taxi to the city center.

All the famous jewelry stores in the country have branches here; you can choose any one.

"Is your manager here? I'd like to discuss some business with him."

"What do you want with our manager? He's very busy right now. Just tell me!" Seeing that Wang Bin looked young, seemingly a college student, the shop assistant immediately lost interest in him. She guessed he was probably just trying to solicit sponsorships for some school event. She didn't dare bother the manager with someone like that.

“You can’t make that decision!” Wang Bin said calmly.

"Little brother, just tell me what's wrong, and I'll definitely be able to make the decision!"

"Oh, what!"

Wang Bin wasn't angry after he finished speaking. He simply took a gemstone, slightly larger than his thumb, from his pocket and placed it on the counter.

When the man saw the gemstone that Wang Bin took out, he thought it was a fake and curled his lip in disdain.

"Little brother, you're so young, why are you learning to lie to people like others?"

"I told you you can't make that decision. You should call your manager out to talk to me!"

"Xiao Liu, what's going on?" Another shop assistant standing not far away noticed that something was wrong and quickly came over to ask.

"Sister Wang, this person is using fake gemstones to scam people!"

These words attracted the attention of the surrounding shop assistants and customers.

When Sister Liu first saw the gems on the counter, she also thought they were fake. Judging from their color and size, if they were real, they would be worth millions. But the young man in front of her didn't seem like someone who could produce a million-dollar gem.

However, Sister Liu was quite composed and did not say these words immediately. Instead, she went over and picked up the gems on the counter to examine them.

This sight startled her, and she quickly placed the gemstone on the counter.

"Sir, please keep your jewels safe. I'll call the manager right away!"

She dared not hold such a valuable gemstone in her hands; she couldn't afford to pay for it if something went wrong while it was in her possession.

"Ah, Sister Liu, is this gemstone real?"

Everyone was very surprised when they heard what Sister Liu said.

Without answering, Sister Liu quickly ran into the back room to call the manager.

The waitress who had just said Wang Bin had brought fake gemstones turned pale. She actually said he had fake gemstones! If the customer blames her, her bonus for this month is probably going to be gone again.

Wang Bin didn't even touch the gemstones on the counter. He had dozens of gemstones like these, and he didn't care about just one.

Soon, a middle-aged man in his forties, led by Sister Liu, quickly came out of the back room and greeted Wang Bin with a smile.

"Sir, how about we talk in the back?"

"good!"

Wang Bin agreed and then followed the jewelry store manager and Sister Liu into the back room with the gemstone. Sister Liu made them a cup of tea and tactfully left the room, leaving only Wang Bin and Manager Zhang inside.

"Hello, my name is Zhang Cheng. May I ask your honorable name?"

"My name is Wang Bin!"

"Hello, Mr. Wang, may I take another look at your gemstones?"

"Manager Zhang, please!"

Wang Bin took out the gem again, but Manager Zhang didn't take it. Instead, he pointed to the table and waited for Wang Bin to put the gem down before reaching for it with his gloved hand.

He glanced at the gemstone under the light and discovered that it was of very high quality, which filled him with joy.

He quickly took out a small monocular telescope and examined it over his right eye. He was increasingly alarmed; this was an extremely fine ruby, priceless.

"Mr. Wang, are you preparing to make a move?"

"Well, Manager Zhang, name your price. If it's right, I'll sell it to you. If it's too low, I'll have to look elsewhere!"

"Sure, sure, how about I give you eight million?"

Eight million!

"Ah! This price is a bit low, but as you know, if we want to sell the gemstones, we need to process them into various jewelry pieces before we can raise the price. In this process, we have to pay design fees, processing fees, personnel costs, and various taxes. Of course, if Mr. Wang really wants to sell, I can add another 500,000, but any more than that would be beyond my authority!"

Wang Bin was shocked again. He had thought that selling it for one million would be good enough, but he didn't expect that Manager Zhang would ask for eight million.

He seemed a little surprised when he heard the price, but Manager Zhang thought he was dissatisfied with the price and quickly added another 500,000. He didn't expect things to turn out this way.

"Eight and a half million it is. If it weren't for the family's financial difficulties, I wouldn't be willing to sell it!"

"Ah, I see. May I ask which prominent family Mr. Wang belongs to?"

"Don't ask me that, I won't tell you."
