Chapter 12: Heat Rising
Screams were heard in the viewing corridor, rising and falling like the sea of grass blown back and forth by the wind. The tourists in the deserted park next door were not much better off.
The flow of people on Taoyuan Street is already greater than usual on weekends. When passers-by heard the screams and noises coming from the Fantasy Park in the distance, they would stop and wonder what was going on inside. Some passers-by stopped people who had just come out of the park and asked what was going on inside and why they were screaming so loudly.
The tourist, however, was filled with excitement, saying, "This park is amazing, and the rides are so thrilling. It's definitely worth going there!"
Passersby couldn't help but be surprised. This statement sounded like something from a troll army, but looking at the excitement on this person's face, it didn't seem like that. Could it be that this amusement park that they had never heard of was really that fun?
A couple passing by also heard the conversation, and the boy asked, "Want to go take a look?"
The girl glanced at the sign hanging at the entrance of the park. It had white letters on a red background in bold capital letters: In the first week of opening, all activities are ten yuan!
Everything is expensive now. Watching a movie costs forty or fifty yuan, and having a milk tea costs twenty yuan. When the park put up the ten-yuan sign, not only the couple, but even the aunt passing by thought it was a real bargain. In addition, with the strong recommendation of the previous tourist, everyone tried to buy tickets to enter the park with the attitude that ten yuan is not a waste. But once they entered, they couldn't get out.
…
In the blink of an eye, it was already half past ten. Chi Yizheng arrived at the entrance of the theme park as agreed yesterday. He saw a bus parked not far away. Then people got off the bus one after another. They were all young people in their twenties and thirties. Without exception, they all exuded the aura of a hard-working worker. He only took a glance and was sure that this was the company that said it would come for team building yesterday.
Before he could go up to greet them, a familiar-looking man got off the bus. Chi Yizheng recognized that he was the tourist who had visited the store on the first day. Only then did he realize that he was a repeat customer.
"Boss, the park is doing good business today!" Wei Hua said with a smile.
Chi Yizhen: "That's all thanks to repeat customers like you who help spread the word. Your tickets have been reserved, but only 20 people can enter the Abandoned Park at a time. Others are advised to visit our newly opened Monster Viewing Gallery first."
Wei Hua only then realized that Fantasy Park had designated its own monsters as demons. The term was indeed quite descriptive, having frightened him greatly the night before. Now it was finally his employees' turn, and he wished those demons were even scarier. He suppressed his laughter, scooted closer to Chi Yizhen, and asked, "Boss, you have surveillance cameras in the park, right? Can you record my employees' embarrassing moments later? I'm going to take them back to Xin... ahem, to make an educational video."
Wei Hua's words reminded Chi Yizheng, and he suddenly had an idea. Yes, he could edit the tourists' embarrassing moments and use them as a promotional video!
The original surveillance system of the old park had been abandoned for many years and had long been broken. Chi Yizheng himself certainly did not have the money to buy equipment, but after the park underwent three upgrades, the original surveillance system was also upgraded, and it was 4K high-definition. It was of course no problem to intercept a few clips and edit them into a video. At that time, he would have to ask the tourists what they thought. If they could accept the mosaic method, he could use it for publicity.
Chi Yizheng, who already had an idea in mind, said in embarrassment: "This won't do. We can't show our surveillance to anyone, and my colleagues in the monitoring room won't agree." In fact, Chi Yizheng is the only living person in Paradise now, so where would his colleagues come from!
Wei Hua was not surprised by Chi Yizhen's answer, nor did he have any doubts. Based on his previous preparations, he had already determined that there was a whole team behind the Fantasy Park, and Chi Yizhen was just the one in charge of external reception. Hearing this, he just sighed and said, "Oh, okay." Although he said this, he had already decided in his heart that the mobile phone was recording the employees nearby. Hehe, it made him laugh just thinking about it.
With this in mind, Wei Hua led his group into the park. He walked in front, giving instructions with the air of a leader. "I've personally experienced this park before. You won't regret it if you try it once."
His smug expression, as if he'd eaten everything I recommended, left the employees around him speechless. They flattered him outwardly, but in their hearts they were already cursing the boss for taking up their rest time. The two girls walking at the back complained to Meng Le, "What fun can you get with ten yuan? The boss is just bragging!"
"Yeah, that's too stingy! Internet access in Internet cafes now costs more than that."
"I would rather go to the Internet cafe to surf the Internet. At least I can lie on the table and take a nap." Someone yawned.
Meng Le still had a soft spot for Tongxin Amusement Park, especially after discovering the owner was the grandson of the park's director. Now, hearing them all complaining about the park, she couldn't smile at all. She just said, "This park just opened, and they're offering discounts to attract customers. Maybe it's really fun there!"
Although she said so, she had no confidence at all. Instead, she was nervous and looked around with her heart in her throat from the moment she entered the park. When she saw that there were quite a few tourists inside, she breathed a sigh of relief. Fortunately, although it was not as crowded and lively as other parks, it was not sparsely populated either. For a small park that had just opened and was unknown, the current passenger flow was still acceptable.
They continued walking forward and as they passed a decorative archway, they heard a mechanical female voice introducing something from above.
Welcome to Fantasyland. Currently, the park has the following attractions... Please queue up in an orderly manner and enter with your ticket...
Although it was a machine-synthesized voice, the female voice was soft and clear, loud but not harsh or noisy, clearly using a relatively high-quality speaker. Meng Le breathed a sigh of relief. Fortunately, the headmistress's grandson was still willing to spend money, and this step was not a rip-off.
The small park was so small, and the rides were few and far between; you could see the end at a glance. Meng Le nervously glanced at the tourists pausing to watch the scrolling screen at the deserted park's entrance, then glanced at the entrance to the viewing corridor on her left. Seeing that most of the tourists looked excited, she finally relaxed the last breath she had held.
Fortunately, although it is a small theme park, judging from the current situation, the owner is still running it seriously.
Meng Le finally let go of her worries and realized how foolish her fearful behavior was. She couldn't help but smile and followed everyone towards the entrance of the deserted park.
At this point, she was already satisfied with the trip, but when she put on her plastic glasses and walked into the deserted park, and saw the monster lying on the carousel and staring at them hungrily, Meng Le still stood there, her eyes widened in shock!
Is it really... really a hologram?
Aren't those 3D glasses in my hand? Aren't we here to see the 3D effect?
This small park... is so big?!

As it approached noon, the number of visitors was getting smaller and smaller, that was for sure. After all, many people were tired of shopping, and it was time for the tourists in the park to go out for dinner. Chi Yizheng approached the deserted park and heard bursts of screams and noise inside. He couldn't help but go back to the security room, turned on the park model on the panel, and then called up the surveillance. When he saw the tourists jumping up and down and howling, he couldn't help but spit out the tea in his mouth, and then fell on the chair and laughed.
"It's so hilarious, it has to be edited into a video."
He didn't have time to eat lunch and hurriedly called up the software to edit and compose music. Little did he know that at this time on the short video platform, the popularity of Fantasy Park was rising at a terrifying rate.
