Chapter 188 It’s time to come up with a title
Divani's feet felt like they were filled with cement, and her steps were so heavy that she couldn't lift them.
He hadn't even brought home a single potato, and now he was taking away the only food he had? What would she and the child eat?
"F**K, don't you understand?!" Ace saw that she didn't move. The pain in his head and his irritability instantly ignited his violent temper. He grabbed the plate on the table and smashed it at her.
Divani stiffened her body and endured it.
Her heart was pounding and her fear was gushing out, clearly visible in her emerald eyes.
She should have done as he said and avoided a beating, but she had a hungry child behind her and she couldn't move.
The little girl hid behind her mother when the plate hit her and could clearly hear the dull thud of the plate hitting her body and the crisp cracking sound of the plate falling to the ground.
She huddled behind her mother, motionless, praying that all this would be over soon.
It was as if the room was filled with demons with bared fangs and claws, and every crack was filled with dense eyes, constantly spying on her...
Ace let out a long breath, looked at the two men fiercely, and suddenly slammed the hammer on the table, causing the two men opposite to tremble all over.
"Don't make me repeat myself a second time."
Divani's beautiful emerald green eyes were now filled with terror and fear. She glanced at Ace and then looked away. Her chest heaved violently as she forced herself to move.
And Ace's hand has already grasped the lampstand...
Perhaps fear was forcing its way into her throat, and she finally took a step back, like a machine that had not been oiled for a long time, creaking and difficult to start, but moving very quickly once it started.
Divani walked over to the counter and started packing up the mashed potatoes.
My daughter hid in the corner, hugging herself tightly, her eyes full of desire for food, but she was so obedient that she didn't say a word.
After Divani noticed this, she had a bold idea in her mind: she wanted to secretly leave some for the child!
"Hurry up!" Ace was rummaging through the drawers behind him, trying to find some medicine, but he found that they were full of miscellaneous items, all children's supplies.
He couldn't help but start cursing.
Divani's hands were shaking so badly that she quickly put a piece of mashed potatoes on the plate and hid it in the cupboard.
Ace kicked over the bench to vent his anger, but was accidentally hit by the flying debris on the lump. The severe pain came instantly, and his heart felt like it was fried in a frying pan eight hundred times. It was extremely unbearable, and the huge emotions surged and wanted to find an outlet to vent.
"F**K!"
Heavy footsteps approached along with a roar of anger. Ace rushed into the kitchen with clenched fists and gritted teeth, and saw the little girl huddled in the corner and trembling.
"Your stuff is everywhere! You damn devil!"
Ace yelled as he kicked out fiercely, not caring at all about the disaster this kick would cause to the child.
"No!" Divani rushed forward to block the child, but the kick hit her in the ribs. Her face turned red instantly and her body shrank into a shrimp shape.
"Beat, beat, pack it up." Divani squeezed out these words from between her teeth, enduring the severe pain and shielding her daughter tightly.
Ace was about to take action, but when he saw the two men shrinking in fear, he waved his fist in protest and grabbed the food and walked out the door.
Divani opened her mouth wide, unable to breathe, as if a plastic bag was wrapped around her mouth and nose. She was covered in sweat, her eyes were wide open, and the blood vessels in her neck were bulging, as if she was going to die in the next second.
"Mom, Mom." The girl finally cried out, shaking her arms in fear.
Divani watched her daughter tremble all over, breathing hard, struggling to escape from the clutches of death.
After five or six minutes, her complexion returned to normal.
She held her ribs and brought out the mashed potatoes hidden in the cupboard. "Eat them quickly, kid. Don't leave a single bite."
...
“Knock, knock, knock.”
The family who were having dinner looked at each other.
"Who is it?" Fan Jie asked.
"Me, open the door quickly, I have good news to share."
"Why does Ace always come here at mealtime? Go open the door." Yan Xiulan hurriedly picked up the unfinished plate on the table and asked her son to hide in the bedroom with her to eat.
"Don't worry about it, just go in quickly." Fan Jie waved his hand.
By the time the two men entered the bedroom, the front door of the house was almost hammered down.
"Stop knocking, I'm coming." He opened the door and Ace hugged him.
"Hey, man, you must not know what I've been through. Take out the best bottle of wine in your house and drink while you tell me. You will definitely thank me after you listen."
Ace placed the mashed potatoes on the table and found the hidden compartment of his wine cabinet with ease. When he saw there was only one bottle in it, he groaned, "Hey, man, you're eating alone. But for the sake of what I'm about to say, I won't mind."
He took out the bottle of wine, held it up when Fan Jie came to stop him, pulled out the cork, and took a sip without thinking.
Fan Jie's face turned as black as the bottom of a pot. How could this old devil be so familiar with the secret cabinet in his house?
"Brother, let me tell you, this is all amazing! There's a hotel on the farm, with a buffet restaurant and all kinds of wine and coffee! And the boss only takes the most useless crystal cores, haha. With what we have now, we're already well fed for half a year!"
He hugged Fan Jie under his armpit, stroked his head with the wine bottle, his eyes shining with excitement.
"What? How is that possible!" Fan Jie pushed his hand away, shocked beyond belief.
Ace threw his head back and laughed, "Seriously, I drank a whole bottle of wine. If it wasn't for informing you, I wouldn't have come back!"
“what’tfucker~”
...
Early the next morning, the news spread throughout the neighborhood.
Ten carriages were ready to go.
Countless men and women were smiling happily, holding glass jars that they used as decorations and holding guns in case they encountered zombies on the road.
"Kids, sit in the middle and just get out of here without making any noise. You hear me?"
"Got it~" the children in the middle of the carriage responded in unison.
The women dressed their children in their cleanest and neatest clothes, with small bow ties, and wore their best skirts themselves, trying their best to keep their families clean and presentable.
It was as if they were going not to dinner but to a dance.
"Let's go, get in the car." The men sat close together in the front row. After the women got on the car, the coachman in the middle waved the whip and whipped the horse's butt.
The frightened horse neighed loudly and ran away with all four hooves.
Instead of being startled, everyone laughed, and happy voices echoed above their heads. Once they were out of the self-made safety fence, everyone automatically fell silent and tried to pass through the group of zombies outside the barbed wire as quietly as possible.
In a house on the block, Divani sat on the bed in the bedroom, hugging her daughter.
Through the thin glass, they could clearly hear how noisy it was outside. Divani only knew where the group was going after hearing their conversation, and understood why Ace took away the jar of crystal cores.
She hugged her daughter tightly.
