Chapter 39: Safe Hotel

Chapter 39: Safe Hotel

"Run! My son!" The old woman used up her last bit of strength to push him away. Her legs became as soft as noodles and she sat down on the ground.

"mom!"

The boy who was pushed away screamed in pain, turned around quickly, grabbed the old woman's arm, and pulled her to run.

"Let me go... my dear... I am useless... my dear, my baby..."

The old woman's eyes were filled with tears as she looked at the boy reluctantly for the last time. She exerted force with her hands, hoping to buy time for the child to live.

"No! Mom! You can't die! Wait!" The boy held his mother's arm tightly, his eyes scanning the shops around him frantically.

It’s a pity that it’s so empty inside, there’s not even a cabinet to hide someone!

The boy was so filled with regret that he almost vomited blood. Then, behind him, he heard the sound of zombies approaching. Their sharp claws were almost tearing through his clothes, trying to tear off his flesh and devour it alive, burying their heads in his burning abdomen and biting it relentlessly...

The boy screamed heart-wrenchingly and ran as fast as he could. His eyes suddenly locked onto Xiong Xiong, who was watching silently from behind the glass door, and his whole body trembled.

He still has a chance! Forced communication works! He can make it open the door for him!

The potential bursting out of desperation enabled him to escape from the zombie swarm and successfully approach the hotel.

He pulled his mother to the glass door and pressed against it tightly.

The boy's hands trembled as he forcibly activated his supernatural power. A green light appeared between his fingers, growing larger and larger until there was no supernatural power left in his body. He placed the huge green ball on his forehead and tried to activate it -

"Little one! The zombies didn't follow us! Little one! We survived!"

The old woman held his arm tightly, looked back with an expression of fear and relief, her knees went weak, and she collapsed at the door of the hotel.

"What?!" Hearing this, the boy looked back in a daze.

Sure enough, the zombie stopped two meters away, raised its head slightly, and used the holes on the sides of its ears to catch the sounds in the air. Its eyes stared at each other without any target, and its body limped as it gradually moved away.

Surprisingly, just like the female boss said, the shop is very safe! There are no zombies to be seen!

The boy's tense heart finally settled back into his chest. After he relaxed from extreme fear, a surge of emotions came over him.

He fell exhaustedly beside the old woman, staring silently at the end of the street and forcing himself to swallow the endless bitterness.

After a moment, he buried his head deeply in her neck, feeling the warmth that he had almost lost. His heart was filled with endless bitterness, his eyes were red and tears were oozing out. He didn't know whether it was a blessing or a curse to be reborn in despair.

The old woman gently touched the child's hair, hugged him tightly, and stroked his back with a distinct spine.

Let’s talk about tomorrow’s things tomorrow. Live one day at a time.

Xiong Xiong was still standing behind the door, and Hei Dou couldn't tell whether he was looking at the street or at the mother and child who were huddled together for warmth at the door's feet.

The faint silver-white moonlight is like a layer of gauze, gently lingering in the world, and like a spider web, entangled everything and prohibiting escape.

The end of the world, a hell burning to ashes.

......

At seven o'clock in the morning, Xia Yan appeared in the restaurant on time and opened the door.

She had a good appetite today and ate two extra fried eggs.

Gradually, more and more customers came into the restaurant. Xia Yan nodded and then concentrated on eating.

There is an unwritten rule in the restaurant that chatting is prohibited during meals, as it is a contempt for the precious food.

After eating, Xia Yan prepared to open the shop for business.

Huh? Why is there someone outside?

Xia Yan recognized the old woman who had hidden behind the wall last night. He pushed open the door and said with a gentle smile, "Good morning, guests. Would you like to stay at the hotel?"

The boy lying in the old woman's arms stood up quickly when he heard the noise, but he didn't want to move too fast. He hadn't eaten for several days and his blood sugar was too low. He staggered a few steps and sat down on the ground with a thud.

"Oh, be careful." Xia Yan opened the door and smiled, with no intention of going over to help.

Although the old woman was anxious, she was too weak to do anything and could only reach out her hand to help with trembling hands.

The boy rested on the ground for a few seconds before the black light in front of his eyes finally stopped.

He raised his head and looked at the beautiful female boss in front of him who was wearing a floral dress and thin-heeled sandals. He helped his mother up and looked at Xia Yan and said, "Yes, stay at the hotel."

"My son, where did we get the cough?!" The old woman started coughing in a hurry, and the boy patted her back hurriedly.

Xia Yan took the opportunity to open the other door and gestured to usher him in. "Please come in, guests. There are instructions for redeeming points, as well as points consumed for hotel stays and meals. It doesn't matter if you want to stay or not. Let's take a look first."

The old woman couldn't resist the boy and was dragged into the hotel.

Looking at the magnificent interior of the hotel, the old woman shrank back and didn't dare to step in, for fear of defiling the place, but was dragged in by the boy.

"These are the rules and regulations and flow chart of our store. If you have any questions, you can ask me." Xia Yan pointed to the sign above, smiled again, and turned to leave.

The boy read all the information carefully, and joy gradually welled up in his heart. Isn't this the safe base he longed for most?!

No fighting, no trouble-making, just be quiet and you can survive!

"Mom, let's live here." The boy lowered his head slightly and whispered softly in the old woman's ear.

This caused the old woman to panic. She stared at the surrounding environment, the inferiority complex of the lower class deeply rooted in her heart. "No, no, my dear, how can a place like this be for people like us to live? Go away, this is not the place we should be!"

She grabbed the boy's arm and tried to pull him out.

The boy not only did not move, but quickly took out a second-level crystal core from the inner pocket of his clothes and stuffed it into the machine. Soon, a points card was spit out.

It read: Ye Qizheng, 500 points.

Seeing that he had used up the crystal core, the old woman gasped and slapped him on the back, her voice choking with sobs, "That was what your father gave his life for! And you just used it like that, you!"

The boy's eyes were firm, but his voice was just as painful. "Mom, take care of the living first. You're just as important to me! I'll apologize to Dad after I die!"

Xia Yan was sitting on the sofa watching the show. Seeing that the two were about to hug each other and cry, he was afraid that they would get excited and faint due to low blood sugar, which would affect the environment in the store, so he walked over to interrupt them.

"Have you two decided which room type you would like to stay in?"

The two people who were about to hug each other and cry were stunned for a moment.

The boy nodded with red eyes, "We'll have a double room."

"Okay, please swipe your card." Xia Yan took out the room card for room 302 and handed it over, smilingly suggesting, "If you two haven't had breakfast yet, you can rest in your room and then dine in the restaurant on the first floor. The restaurant is not expensive and is open all day."

When they heard that there was still food to eat, their eyes lit up.

The old woman originally wanted to go directly into the restaurant to take a look, but the boy grabbed her arm and took her upstairs.

"Little one, there's food inside! Eat first, you've been hungry for days!"

The boy saw that a happy life was beckoning to him, and his mouth corners almost reached his ears, and he couldn't help laughing out loud.

"Mom, didn't you hear what the boss said? You have to wash up first!"
