He recalled his journey with the bow, how once the arrow was nocked, his only goal was to kill. This way of archery, from its very beginning, violated the original intent of the art; the arrow's destination was the bullseye, not the human heart. Had he continued down this path, he might have become a top assassin, but never a true master archer.
"A fine arrow!"
Jiang Xuan couldn't help but cheer. She knew that the other party had been hiding his strength. Those eyes, like those of a hawk, must belong to a master archer.
Jiang Yuan's carefully cultivated state of mind was instantly shattered. Although Jiang Xuan was praising him, the term "good arrow" sounded more like an insult.
"You're good at archery too!" Jiang Yuan replied with a stern face.
"You can praise me after I defeat you!" Jiang Xuan laughed and launched another attack on Jiang Yuan. This time, the arrow carried immense power, completely different from the previous one.
Jiang Yuan dared not relax. For the first time, he focused intently on shooting an arrow. "This is true unity of man and arrow!"
With a whoosh, the arrow shot out. Jiang Yuan could almost see every single spiritual energy molecule it encountered along its path. It slid gracefully through the air, the energy burning in the shaft transforming into powerful propulsion. This was the arrow's most dazzling moment.
Bang! The two arrows collided again, exactly the same as before, with no clear winner.
"Watch out for the last arrow!"
Jiang Xuan suddenly stood up and kicked off her horse, instantly soaring into the air. She froze in mid-air with a graceful pose, including the fully drawn bow and arrow in her hand.
"Let's settle this with a victory! The Immortal Guides the Way!"
With a whoosh, it was as if a god had descended to earth, and Jiang Xuan at this moment was undoubtedly that god, pointing her arrow towards the path of immortals.
"Chaos—Open!"
This arrow created a huge tornado in the air, and the spinning arrow had already transcended the realm of True Spirit.
"You little brat's gotten angry, huh!"
Jiang Yuan looked solemn. He hadn't expected Jiang Xuan to be so obsessed with arrows, determined to settle the score.
"If that's the case, then let's go!"
Jiang Yuan leaped off his horse. Instead of spreading his Holy Demon Wings, he used his heart as an arrow to lock onto the center of the arrow storm. Then, the Netherworld Orb on the God-Slaying Bow emitted a black light. With each step he took, the Netherworld Orb drew a deep black line in the void.
"The essence of wood! The essence of wind!"
The arrow shaft emanated a vibrant life force, while the fletching seemed to merge directly into the wind.
"The wind is picking up!" Jiang Feng said dejectedly. He had the deepest understanding of the wind, but even so, he was still surprised when he saw the other party infuse the essence of the wind into the arrow to increase its speed. This required an extremely profound understanding.
"This guy might not be the best archer, but his talent is terrifying!" Jiang Yi gave him a very high evaluation. The talent he was referring to was not only his archery skills, but also his understanding of artistic conception.
"Elven Archery - Life!"
The arrow, though insignificant in the vast storm of arrows, stands out nonetheless.
The collision between the storm and the arrow ended half a second later, leaving only the tornado in the air, as if Jiang Yuan's arrows had been completely swallowed up.
"What will be the outcome?"
The Jiang family members watching were all waiting for an answer, but only Jiang Xuan and Jiang Yuan knew the answer.
"Hmph, it's yours!" Jiang Xuan seemed very unconvinced, but after saying that, she still picked up the starlight from the ground and threw it over.
Jiang Yuan caught it instinctively. In fact, it was hard to define the outcome of this last arrow. Although his arrow carried the essence of wood and wind, it ultimately lacked the essence of metal in the arrowhead. Therefore, at the last moment, he did not destroy Jiang Xuan's arrow, but relied on the powerful force of death to perish together with his opponent.
"I've accepted the item, but that doesn't mean I've won!" Jiang Yuan walked towards the sphere he had condensed from the array fragments, then picked it up and tossed it to Jiang Xuan, saying, "There are no winners or losers in a friendly spar. This is yours!"
A draw?
Others who saw the two exchanging bets couldn't help but become curious.
"Tch!" Jiang Feng scoffed, "His bet might be worthless; how can it compare to Sister Xuan's Starlight!"
Jiang Xuan heard the murmurs of the crowd, but her expression became increasingly complicated. What she held in her hands was a genuine array inheritance. Although it wasn't a job change book, its value was in no way inferior.
"Alright, I'm going to practice archery now, don't bother me!"
Jiang Yuan didn't want to reveal his identity within the Jiang family, so he tried to minimize contact with these people. He only needed to get the answers he wanted in the Jiang family's ancestral land.
"What's your name?" Jiang Xuan asked sincerely, holding the black bead.
"I am the gentleman invited by your Jiang family. Just call me Mr. Jiang!" Jiang Yuan replied vaguely.
"Invited?"
Jiang Xuan suddenly remembered something and exclaimed, "Wait, you wouldn't happen to be that miracle doctor, would you?"
"A miracle doctor?" Jiang Yuan looked puzzled, then nodded and said, "You can think of it that way if you want!"
"This!" Jiang Xuan was speechless.
The expressions of the others upon hearing the words "miracle doctor" were quite interesting, especially Jiang Feng, who immediately covered his face, afraid that Jiang Yuan would remember him.
No way! This is the person who saved his ancestor, and he's still standing there making sarcastic remarks. If his ancestor finds out, his father will probably give him a hard time.
"Alright, you all go about your business. I've received ten thousand arrows and haven't even started shooting yet!" Jiang Yuan waved his hand, indicating that Jiang Xuan could leave.
"Wait, ten thousand?"
Jiang Xuan looked at Jiang Yuan in surprise, as if the number had frightened her.
