If you might not feel the difference when talking about families and tribes, you'll understand when you consider the way races are passed down.
Goblin families are not much different from modern humans in terms of family composition, adhering to monogamy. The only exceptions are the high-ranking goblin nobles, whose higher status means more resources—a principle common to all. However, the tauren tribe doesn't operate this way. Their tribes emphasize spiritual inheritance and maintain a primitive, wild nature, meaning whoever is stronger has the right to mate. Therefore, you might very well see a neighboring tauren tirelessly spreading their offspring everywhere in a tauren tribe.
All I can say is that the Minotaur truly deserves the title.
Of course, whether they value status or strength, goblins and tauren both belong to the same era where might makes right.
However, due to the differences in their social models, it is still necessary to change the way they interact. Goblins with a family-based model are more focused on their own interests, which means they are more cunning. Generally, as long as it does not harm their interests and is beneficial to them, they will help you.
"Don't be nervous, I'm here to find a senior miner!" Jiang Yuan spread his arms to indicate that he was unarmed and that he did not want to cause any conflict.
"We're just a small village. If you want to find high-level miners, go to Goblin City!" The goblin guarding the village entrance remained vigilant.
Jiang Yuan shook his head after hearing this and said directly, "The miner I need is only found in your village."
"Impossible, our village doesn't have any advanced miners!" the male goblin replied with certainty.
Jiang Yuan didn't explain, casually tossing out two pieces of fine ore, and then said, "I mean no harm. If I don't find the person I'm looking for, I will leave on my own."
The male goblin picked up the two pieces of ore that had been thrown to him. He was quite satisfied with their material and color. After putting them away, he shouted to Jiang Yuan, "Alright, then only one of you can go in, and you can only stay for half an hour. Otherwise, I will have the villagers forcibly expel you."
"Half an hour?" Jiang Yuan mentally calculated whether that was enough time.
"Open the door and let him in!"
The male goblin withdrew his defensive fortifications.
"Tan'er, why don't you wait for me outside for a while? I'll be right out!" Jiang Yuan originally wanted to take Mi Tan'er out to chat and get to know each other better, since this was one of the few ambiguous periods they had left together.
"Alright, then be careful!" Mi Tan'er was in low spirits, as if she had something on her mind.
Jiang Yuan nodded, then strode into the goblin village.
In the memories of the previous goblin lord, the identity of this illegitimate son of the goblin king was kept extremely secret, and very few people knew about it. If this goblin lord hadn't been responsible for escorting this illegitimate son to safety back then, he wouldn't have known that the goblin king had a bloodline abandoned in this place.
As Jiang Yuan walked along the road, he was constantly being stared at. Most of the goblins looked at him with hostility, but no one chose to make a move because they didn't want to cause trouble.
"Excuse me, is there a goblin around twenty years old here?" Jiang Yuan asked as he walked in front of a blacksmith shop selling artifact blanks. This was the location divined by the Tortoise Shell Immortal, and the illegitimate child was very likely related to this place.
"Young man?" The blacksmith's expression was unfriendly, then he said impatiently, "I don't know, you'd better not bother me!"
Jiang Yuan ignored the blacksmith shop owner and walked straight to the back of the shop. Soon, a short but definitely not weak goblin boy appeared in front of him.
His intuition told him that this was the illegitimate son of the Goblin King.
"You're not looking for this good-for-nothing, are you?!" The blacksmith shop owner looked at the goblin boy with disdain, his face full of contempt. "This good-for-nothing, I've raised him for ten years, and he's still just a low-level miner. If it weren't for the fact that the shop needed someone to tend the fire, I wouldn't be keeping him!"
The blacksmith was about to continue speaking, but several pieces of ore that suddenly appeared on the table silenced him.
Jiang Yuan, having put down the ore, said calmly, "Give me twenty minutes!"
"Evan, take good care of the guests! If anything goes wrong, you won't get a hot meal tonight."
The blacksmith shop owner left happily with the ore, leaving only Jiang Yuan and the young goblin named Aiven in the forging room.
"You didn't come here to forge weapons?" A faint light appeared in Evan's eyes, which had been calm for a long time.
Jiang Yuan glanced around, then dropped an array base to shield the space before saying, "I think I don't need to expose your identity anymore!"
With a clang, Evan suddenly drew his sword, the light in his eyes turning to complete fear. He knew those people had come.
"You still have some guts. I thought a son of a concubine like you would be cowardly!" Jiang Yuan didn't care about Aiven's sword at all, and still leaned against the forging table with an old man's composure, watching the molten ore churning in the furnace.
"Who exactly are you?" Evan's hand holding the sword trembled. He had an unhappy childhood. Because of his poor talent, he could not gain his father's approval, and his mother was weak-willed and was tortured to death by the royal family. If it weren't for the goblin king seeing that he still had a trace of his bloodline and sending him to this remote village, he would have followed in his mother's footsteps long ago.
"Who I am is not important. What's important is who you are and who you want to become?" Jiang Yuan countered.
Evan was still blindly swinging his sword, shouting, "I don't want to be anyone, I just want to live here quietly!"
Jiang Yuan didn't bother arguing with him. He took out a piece of wood and threw it into the furnace. The molten ore instantly swallowed the wood, leaving only a wisp of black smoke.
Watching the black smoke rise, Jiang Yuan said calmly, "I am very clear about my own position. I know that I should stay in the right place because of my identity!"
