"No, no, no, you can't say that!"
Ning Yanlan's sudden question startled Little Fatty, who blushed and became flustered.
Jiang Yuan looked up at Leng Yue, who was already a hundred meters ahead of them, and asked in surprise, "Really? You're really interested in her?"
"I..." Little Fatty hesitated for a moment, and finally nodded shyly.
"Wow, that's impressive! I never knew you liked something so cold!" Jiang Yuan joked.
"Shh, keep your voice down, or Sister Leng will kill me if she hears!" Little Fatty covered his lips with his index finger, afraid that Leng Yue would hear him.
"I advise you to give up that idea. Leng Yue clearly doesn't like your style. Otherwise, you might end up heartbroken," Jiang Yuan warned.
After spending a few days together, he had a better understanding of Leng Yue's personality. She was somewhat indifferent to worldly desires and, although she didn't have the typical girlish thoughts, she had a hero-worship complex. Xiao Pang, on the other hand, was too gentle and obviously couldn't be the hero she wanted.
“How could that be? I just think Yingjun is a nice guy! Leng Yue might like someone like that!” Ning Yanlan retorted to Jiang Yuan.
"Sister-in-law, just call me Little Fatty! Calling me by my name makes me think you're praising me, which makes me narcissistic!" Little Fatty laughed to ease the awkwardness.
"Look, he's humorous too!" Ning Yanlan praised.
Jiang Yuan: "..."
"Why don't you go up and try it!" Jiang Yuan felt there was no need to say more; he could just let Little Fatty experience it for himself.
"Forehead!"
Little Fatty hesitated for a moment, then said, "I'm a little scared!"
"What's there to be afraid of? Just be a little thick-skinned and go for it!" Jiang Yuan said speechlessly.
Little Fatty pondered for a moment before asking, "So what should I talk to her about?"
"Heh, you're really lazy, aren't you? Who's chasing girls, you or me?" Jiang Yuan said with a sullen laugh.
"Well, isn't it because I lack experience? You..." Little Fatty was about to say something, but he immediately shut up after feeling Jiang Yuan's murderous gaze.
"For your first chat, talk to her about your hobbies, things you like, and don't ask about anything personal. Just chat about trivial things, and the conversation will flow more smoothly later on, and you can go a little deeper!" Jiang Yuan didn't have any experience either, but he still gave her some guidance. "Oh, and whatever you do, don't talk to her about your family or boyfriend, or I'm not sure if you'll come back alive!"
"Will chatting like this kill someone?" Little Fatty asked in horror.
"Maybe!" Jiang Yuan thought to himself with amusement.
The chubby boy's expression changed from fear to confidence. He reassured himself, "It's okay, the shield warrior is tough!"
"If we don't go now, we'll miss our chance!" Jiang Yuan urged.
"Brother Yuan and Sister-in-law, then I won't be a third wheel!"
After making up his mind, Little Fatty dashed off after Leng Yue.
"Your roommate is quite funny!" Ning Yanlan took Jiang Yuan's hand, then her gentle tone instantly changed. "But he just said you're quite experienced. How do you explain that?"
As Ning Yanlan spoke, she poked Jiang Yuan's palm with her fingernail.
"You must have misheard me! How could I, a seasoned otaku, possibly have any experience!" Jiang Yuan explained with a twitch at the corner of his mouth. He knew that unreliable guy would say the wrong thing.
"Really?" Ning Yanlan looked at him with disbelief.
Jiang Yuan nodded somewhat guiltily, feeling that he was not worthy to say such a thing.
Ning Yanlan pulled Jiang Yuan to a stop and asked seriously, "Do you believe in fate?"
"I don't really believe in fate! I prefer the idea that human will can overcome anything!" Jiang Yuan said calmly.
"Tell me the truth, are you from the Jiang family of Ancheng?" Ning Yanlan glanced at Leng Yue, who had already walked away.
Jiang Yuan's movements were momentarily sluggish, but he quickly recovered and said with a faint smile, "Why do you ask that?"
"Guess?" Ning Yanlan already knew the answer when she saw his expression.
Jiang Yuan recalled the note Ning Yanlan had left him, which said they had missed each other twice. However, he didn't know what that meant, because they had only missed each other once.
“There are some things I can’t remember!” Jiang Yuan said honestly, “but I do have a connection with the Jiang family of Ancheng!”
"I knew I hadn't slept with the wrong person!" Ning Yanlan smiled smugly at Jiang Yuan.
"Help!"
Just as Jiang Yuan was wondering, a scream came from Little Fatty's soul ring, which Ning Yanlan also heard.
"Little Fatty is in trouble!" Jiang Yuan looked up toward Leng Yue and Little Fatty's location, but the two figures that were there a second ago had vanished.
Jiang Yuan lost his previous powerful perception because he replaced the Breath of Stone with Regeneration. Due to the special nature of the Mark of the Dead, if he wanted to replace the Breath of Stone again, he would have to use a thousand Marks of the Dead to remelt the Breath of Stone.
"Go and take a look quickly!" Ning Yanlan said anxiously.
Although Jiang Yuan no longer possessed the Stone Breath, his sense of danger remained. He could feel the threat coming from the earth. "Yanlan, watch your step!"
They dared not be too conspicuous here, so they did not summon the Heavenly Soul Child and instead ran there together.
"careful!"
Just as they arrived at the spot where Leng Yue and Xiao Pang had disappeared, Jiang Yuan drew his spear and thrust it diagonally into the ground beneath Ning Yanlan's feet. The dark yellow earth rippled a few times, then fell silent.
"Is there something down there?" Ning Yanlan asked, still shaken.
Jiang Yuan drew his spear, only to see an ant larger than a country dog hanging from its tip. His pupils constricted. "Oh no, this is an ant nest!"
At that moment, the ground within a radius of 100 meters around them began to undulate, and tentacles as thick as wheat stalks kept emerging from the ground.
