Chapter 27 Fishing Master

"Uh, I remember now, I'm just unlucky with Mercury, I can't catch any fish as soon as I pick up a fishing rod!" Jiang Yuan said calmly.

Ning Yanlan gave her a look that said, "I'd be a fool to believe you," but still put her fishing rod away.

The two fished one by one, since the muddy ground was full of sharp-toothed fish jumping around. As monsters that had been awakened, they could hardly die even without water for half a day.

"Oh dear, I'm exhausted!" Ning Yanlan felt an unbearable ache in her arms. "Fishing for these fish is really agonizing!"

"That's enough. Now those sharp-toothed fish have learned to be smart and stop eating the Light of Nature!" Jiang Yuan said.

"Help me hold this, my hands and back are about to break!" Ning Yanlan shoved the dog-leg scepter into Jiang Yuan's hands, then leaned against him.

Jiang Yuan removed the power cord, then helped Ning Yanlan to where they had displayed their spoils. "Now you rest, it's my turn to perform!"

"Go on, go on!" Ning Yanlan sat on the edge of the field, rubbing her arms and waist.

Jiang Yuan silently took out his Tang sword. The sword was already mostly damaged during the two days of fighting. Not to mention the blade was full of nicks, even the handle was a bit loose, but it was still good enough for current use.

The two fished together and caught more than twenty fish, until they ran out of fish to catch.

At that moment, more than twenty sharp-toothed fish were jumping around on the muddy ground. When they saw Jiang Yuan, their eyes gleamed with ferocity, as if he would be devoured by a group of sharp-toothed fish if he went over.

"Heavenly Eye!"

"A sharp-toothed fish formed from a blue carp, a first-tier common monster. Talent: sharp teeth for tearing and biting. Weakness: covered in them."

Jiang Yuan sneered and walked straight to the edge of the fish, which was about the size of a basketball and was jumping around trying to bite him.

"Hmph, an eagle without feathers is no better than a chicken, and a shark that's come ashore is a damn bastard. You bunch of useless stinky fish who can only move your mouths, do you think you can kill me?" Jiang Yuan brandished the knife in his hand and with a whoosh, he chopped off the head of the sharp-toothed fish, and a core emitting a black and gray light appeared out of thin air.

"Awesome! The first one hits the core! Looks like it would be a shame not to give you guys a good blast today," Jiang Yuan said excitedly.

But he would soon regret what he had just said.

The second one, none.

The third one, none.

Even up to the tenth head, there was still none.

Jiang Yuan took a deep breath. "This monster is weird! What are the odds?! Why isn't it dropping anything yet?"

Under the influence of the Balance Messenger, the core drop rate has increased to 50%, but now I haven't gotten a single Nine-Headed Serpent.

"Damn it, I don't believe it today!" Jiang Yuan continued to chop.

Eleventh head, none.

The twelfth head, none.

Even up to the twenty-third head, there was still none.

"What the hell!" Jiang Yuan's hand holding the knife trembled slightly. This was the first time he had ever seen such a thing. What kind of fish were these?

Are you some kind of invasive species from Africa?! That's so illogical, I'm a normal person and I should have exploded by now!

I don't expect you to reach level 999 in one hit, I don't expect you to fill the screen with loot with one hit, and I don't expect you to have the Heaven-Opening Sword in your right hand and the Poison King in your left, but you can't just drop nothing when you hit me!

"Tsk tsk, someone stepped in dog poop today!" Ning Yanlan walked out laughing after resting enough. She felt inexplicably happy to see Jiang Yuan get his comeuppance.

"There's something wrong with these fish today!" Jiang Yuan was exasperated; he was searching for any fish that had escaped the net and survived.

"Could it be that you opened the treasure chest too forcefully and used up all your luck in this lifetime?" Ning Yanlan teased with a smile.

"Fine, let's pack up our spoils and head home!" Jiang Yuan resigned himself to his fate; it seemed he was destined for bad luck tonight.

"Wait, there's another one over there!"

Ning Yanlan's eyes were very quick, and she just happened to catch a glimpse of the sharp-toothed fish that darted into the grass beside the ridge of the field.

"There's something wrong with this fish today. No need to cut it open; one cut and it's still nothing!" Jiang Yuan noticed this too, and was walking towards the sharp-toothed fish with a knife in hand.

"I have a feeling it's going to explode?" Ning Yanlan said seriously, resting her chin on her hand.

"Impossible!" Jiang Yuan had completely given up on the sharp-toothed fish's nonsense today, a typical case of accepting his fate.

"Give me the knife!" Ning Yanlan suddenly felt like making a move, so she just went with her instincts.

Jiang Yuan smiled and said, "What, does our policewoman want to give it a try too?"

"What if the core gets damaged?" Ning Yanlan asked, raising an eyebrow.

"It's impossible for it to happen!" Jiang Yuan said with absolute certainty.

"What if?" Ning Yanlan said with a faint smile.

Jiang Yuan raised his head with a touch of arrogance, "If you can provide the core conditions, then you can do it. I'll even wash my hair upside down if I want!"

"You said it!"

"I said it!"

Ning Yanlan took the Tang sword and walked towards the still-jumping sharp-toothed fish. She said softly, "Little cutie, remember your sister's last bit of kindness!"

Snap! The fish's head was finally split open, and it was now upside down to wash its head.

A golden light suddenly appeared.

Holy crap!
