"An Xiaoyu, don't be afraid!"
Jiang Yuan dared not delay and rushed to Yu Tu's side in one stride. At this moment, Yu Tu was full of panic, and the tear stains on her face silently revealed her sadness just a moment ago.
"Little Jiang Jiang!" Yu Tu broke down in tears and turned to throw herself into Jiang Yuan's arms.
"You scared me to death! I thought something had happened to you!" Jiang Yuan breathed a sigh of relief. He had thought the woman had encountered some kind of monster and that's why she screamed.
"Waaah!" Yu Tu clung tightly to his clothes, sobbing, "Didn't you say you didn't want me? Why are you coming to find me again?"
Jiang Yuan didn't say anything. In this state, Yu Tu needed to vent her emotions. After venting, her emotions would naturally stabilize. After all, feelings can't be sustained by impulsiveness.
"You came to me, doesn't that prove you still care about me!" Yu Tu stopped sobbing and looked up at Jiang Yuan, waiting for his answer.
“I was afraid you would encounter danger if you entered the Undead Swamp, so…”
Jiang Yuan had barely finished speaking when Yu Tu bit his hand.
"Are you satisfied now?" Jiang Yuan said softly after waiting for a while.
Yu Tu reluctantly loosened her grip; she was almost at her wit's end with this stubborn man.
"Why did you come here?" Jiang Yuan asked, sounding somewhat accusatory. "Don't you know this place is extremely dangerous? Do you think you're a child?"
"What, you're not going to abandon me anymore, are you? You're going to leave me here!" Yu Tu cried out.
Jiang Yuan took a deep breath, setting aside other crucial questions: "Why did you scream just now?"
This place gave him a strange feeling, and he had to be careful.
"I...I'm seeing things. I feel like someone is watching me from below! So...I shouted it out in a panic!" Yu Tu didn't want to say it, after all, it was embarrassing enough, and saying it would only make Jiang Yuan laugh at her.
"I feel right!"
Jiang Yuan grabbed Yu Tu's arm, and with the spread of his Divine Wings, they flew towards the top of the withered forest. His expression was solemn as he said, "There is indeed someone watching us here!"
"What do we do?" Yu Tu's expression changed upon hearing this. She sensed the strangeness of this place, which was why she, a super ninth-level cultivator, was so panicked.
"The dead trees here are intertwined and messy. Let's fly up and find a way out!" Jiang Yuan used his energy to destroy all the dead tree branches blocking their way, and then flew into the air with Yu Tu.
The dead trees were at least thirty meters tall, which shows the enormous scale of the vegetation in the area.
"Little Jiang, let's not damage these dead trees. I always feel like these dead trees are alive!" Yu Tu shuddered, especially as Jiang Yuan was cutting through the thorns to make a path, the feeling of goosebumps on his back became more and more intense.
Jiang Yuan also squinted, the Hand of Death constantly detecting the marks of the dead, but the more it did so, the more it proved that this place was not a place to stay for long.
"open!"
Jiang Yuan pierced the last crown of the dead tree with one shot and successfully emerged from the withered forest.
What lay before them was an endless, withered forest, and not far away, a wetland filled with black, silted water. But whether it was the withered forest or the wetland, this world seemed to be isolated from life, containing only desolation and death.
"Where are we?" Yu Tu asked, looking around in confusion.
"You're asking me? Who should I ask?" Jiang Yuan was extremely helpless. Even with his Heavenly Eye open, he still couldn't see the edge of the withered forest, as if it had no end.
"That's not right. I remember I only walked a few miles. How did I end up here?"
Yu Tu was puzzled and felt a little guilty, knowing that it was all because of her willfulness that the two of them got lost.
"You walked a few miles, but I ran for nearly twenty miles. How did you get ahead of me?" Jiang Yuan asked in surprise as he looked at Yu Tu.
“Impossible, I remember I came from…” Yu Tu said, pointing to a spot that was now a wetland filled with black water. “It came from… that place!”
"The Swamp of the Dead!"
Jiang Yuan murmured, his eyes filled with disbelief. It was clear that the two of them had stumbled into a strange place—the Swamp of the Dead.
"Jiang Yuan, look!" Yu Tu pointed nervously to a spot in the Blackwater Wetland.
Jiang Yuan cast his Heavenly Eye, but what he saw made his pupils shrink.
"Did you see that? It looks like someone is watching us from the water!" Yu Tu's fingers were icy cold. She wasn't afraid of any wild beasts in the mountains, but she was quite wary of mysterious ghosts and spirits.
Glug!
A large bubble emerged from the blackwater wetlands, and it soon burst, releasing a putrid stench.
"It must be a creature that lives in the swamp!" Jiang Yuan recalled the pungent smell he had smelled earlier, which was very likely emitted by this monster that was hiding deep in the swamp.
"And that dead tree, it looks like there's someone there too!"
The exposure of the monster in the swamp was like a chain reaction. In the blink of an eye, Yu Tu saw the anomaly in the withered forest. However, this time, before Jiang Yuan could react, the unknown creature in the withered tree had already disappeared.
"You're too nervous!" Jiang Yuan rubbed Yu Tu's head, trying to calm her down.
"No, I really saw a pitch-black person crawl into the tree hole!" Yu Tu described the person she saw vividly.
"This place is strange, let's leave first!" Jiang Yuan didn't want to cause any more trouble; he just wanted to get away.
"No, there are things left behind by Kui here. We have to find them before we can leave! Otherwise, what's the point of us coming to the Undead Swamp?" Yu Tu shook his head, determined not to leave.
"We don't know if that thing even exists. Even if it does, this place is too eerie, and we can't afford to take any risks!" Jiang Yuan shook his head and said.
“But we’re already here. Instead of trying to find a way out, wouldn’t it be better to figure out what’s going on here and then find a way out?” Yu Tu whispered.
