Wrongful Conviction 16
Taro Sugita is 60 years old this year.
He committed multiple thefts during his teenage years and was sent to a juvenile detention center at the age of 16. After he became an adult, he tried various jobs to make a living, but most of the time he was driving a truck for long-distance transportation. He tried to reform himself after getting married, but his experience in the juvenile detention center was exposed at work, and he encountered varying degrees of discrimination and avoidance. After the birth of his child, his family expenses increased, and under various pressures he began committing crimes again.
He was caught stealing once and his wife informed him of a divorce after he was imprisoned. After he was released from prison, he returned to his single life and became more self-indulgent. He maintained relationships with many women and used the stolen property to please his lovers.
He had many experiences in smuggling and illegal immigration, and had gone abroad intermittently to carry out some "work". Four years ago, he was caught on the spot by the car owner when he tried to steal property from a car. Due to the conclusive evidence, he was quickly sentenced to prison.
The above are the subjects of this report.
"Mr. Sugita, right?" Ishii Kazuki looked quite oppressive when he wasn't smiling. His chiseled face and sharp eyes made him look like a professional detective once he suppressed his cynical attitude. "You should know why we're here, right?"
Sitting opposite him, Sugita Taro, who was already an old man, shrank his shoulders, and the wrinkles on his face squeezed together, revealing a provocative and flattering smile, "No, I know nothing." There were not many gray hairs left on his head, and they looked like a bright light bulb under the light of the interrogation room. "I have confessed everything."
"Relax a little," Hagiwara Kenji said gently. He opened his notebook and held a ballpoint pen in his hand. He looked much kinder than Ishii Kazuki. "Mr. Sugita is old too. Remember your teacher taught you to respect the elderly, little Ikki."
"Then we almost pissed him off to the point of leaving home," Ishii Kazuki sneered, and actually started chatting with his friends in front of the criminals. "After we graduated, the following classes were treated like quails by him. The instructor always held up the Buddhist beads and smiled as he scolded our juniors until they wanted to be reincarnated on the spot. They were no longer 'ghosts', but 'smiling Buddhas'."
"Is this true?" Seeing Sugita Taro's eyes twitching slightly, Hagiwara Kenji pretended to be surprised and continued the topic, "That instructor can actually laugh? When we were in the police academy before, every time he saw us, he had a sullen face. Kenji-chan thought that the instructor really hated him. It was such a shock~"
Speak nicely, why act like a spoiled child? Ishii Kazuki lost his composure for a moment. Although Hagiwara Kenji was really good at it, now was not the right time to praise him. "Don't you really know why?" His eyes stabbed into his classmate like a knife. "The instructor said that every time he sees us, he feels that no matter what happens, he won't be surprised. No matter what happens, we can remain calm and face life with a smile."
"Little Ikki," Hagiwara Kenji stroked his chin with a smile, "Don't forget, you are also one of us."
"No," Ishii Ikki declined, "I'm just an ordinary top student in the grade."
"A text message made the instructor run 20 miles to become the first in the grade."
......
While the manzai duo was chattering, their eyes never left Sugita Taro, and as their expression grew increasingly gloomy, they realized that they had achieved their goal.
"I say," Sugita Taro's dissatisfaction was obvious. Ishii Kazuki had previously analyzed that this prisoner had a strong sense of self-esteem and could not tolerate being ignored or despised by others. He would especially focus on his own "glory". "Have the two officers forgotten their business?"
"Don't be so brazen as to be a tax thief."
