Chapter 256 The Origin of Everything (Part 1)

After complying with Bering's request, the other three tactfully left the room.

Starscream was dragged away by the witch, in fact, she wanted to stay and see what Bering was up to. However, under the witch's gaze, Starscream could only reluctantly follow the others.

After closing the door, Bai Ling turned and walked towards the boxes of sedatives.

If this shelter can really hold on for thousands of years...

This means that if a normal person wants to use the ability to predict the future thousands of years later, it is basically impossible to achieve.

For ordinary people, using the ability to predict the future is a huge burden. The more you use this power, the more you can feel the weakness and pain in your body.

Even those who were once oath breakers were only relying on their own future memories, not truly predicting the future.

To be able to see through the mist of a thousand years is no longer the realm of "prophet". It is the true meaning of "time".

but.

Grabbing the sedative in his hand, Bai Ling chuckled: "The most fearful thing is but."

He did not inject the sedative into his body immediately. Instead, he took a deep breath and took out an exquisite little box.

Inside the box was Zou Ye, whose spirit had been worn out.

At the moment, Zou Ye was left with only a few remnants still holding on, but under the witch's tricks, he was eventually melting away bit by bit. Just like a snowman in spring, no matter how fierce he was in winter, once spring came, he would eventually turn into a pool of melted water.

Bai Ling rolled up this ball of almost pure spirit from the box and brought it directly into his own consciousness space without any hesitation.

He had brought some souls with him in the past, but those souls quickly died after entering the consciousness space. Only Zou Ye was still alive and well even after being dragged into the ocean by Bai Ling. Except for the lack of brains, he was healthy.

After pushing Zou Ye into the water, Bai Ling pondered for a moment and then regained consciousness.

All preparations are complete, so now...

It's time to truly "travel through time".

Without any hesitation, Bai Ling grabbed the sedative in his hand.

Then he unplugged the cap and stabbed it directly into his neck! The transparent liquid flowed from the needle into his body, like pulsating blood, awakening his long-dormant coldness bit by bit.

Time began to flow before him.

One second, one minute, one hour, one day... the broken memories of the future are like pages on a calendar, and a casual tear represents a new day. In this repetitive cycle, Bailing quietly crossed the long and vast time.

A lot of things happened during this long period of time.

During this time, Red Spider, Witch and others came to him. They seemed to want to say something, but in the end they were forced back by Bai Ling's eyes.

Yang Qianxi hasn't been here for a long time. According to Bai Ling's speculation, she is probably dead.

Later, the witch brought a lot of newspapers. According to her, the alien species in this world have completely spread to the extent that ordinary people can hardly deal with them. In contrast, although humans have a certain strength in advance because of Bering, they are still no match for the crazy offensive of the alien species. In the end, it took 27 years for humans to enter extinction again.

Compared to the three years in the original world, the cubic number of twenty-seven years is almost perfect.

Because Bai Ling had remained missing at that time and had been staying in Wu Dayou's shelter afterwards, Ming Zhou's people had to admit that Bai Ling was indeed "dead" after searching for him for a long time.

Ding Yan successfully destroyed the Nine Heads Divine Religion, and Ji Qianqin gradually emerged with her own strength. Lin Ju, Song Qingci, and Li Jingwen also became strong men who were no less powerful than Qi Guang. It was because of their existence that humans were able to hold on for longer than three years.

However, the alien attack was so terrifying that over the past twenty-seven years, they gradually died and the last bit of fire was completely extinguished.

As for Hermes.

It was obvious that he had successfully entered the Abyss, but it was also obvious that he still hadn't managed to manage time.

At least he never appeared in history again.

The name "Hermes" seemed to have completely disappeared into the air, and no one ever remembered that there was such a person who had hidden in history for thousands of years and had planned for such a long time for his own ambitions.

Later on, even the witch and Red Spider rarely came.

According to the witch, Starscream was seriously injured in order to obey the agreement with Bering and protect humans.

"You know, she doesn't really want to do this," the witch said, "but the constraints of the oath are too great. Even if she wants to leave, she will eventually be detained where she is. It's not just her, it's the same for me too..."

"I don't know how long you will stay in there, but I will try to help you protect the remaining human flame. I have now retreated to Tartarus, and only there can I protect a small group of people."

"There are alien species everywhere now, and what's different from before is that they no longer have prey to hunt. Therefore, even an ordinary human can make them revel endlessly. In order to satisfy their twisted thoughts, they have gone completely crazy. I think you probably don't want to hear how miserable the people who fall into their hands are."

The witch said calmly: "One hundred years, this is the last time I will keep my oath with you. After one hundred years, I will consider attacking the origin alone. This is not what I want, but I have no choice. If I want to break the oath, I must have the power of the origin. And if I attack the origin, then I will break the oath and be punished. Since both are death, then I choose to fight."

"If you don't see me in the future, it probably proves that I'm dead."

Having said that, the witch turned and left.

Just before leaving, she suddenly laughed: "It's really strange, I don't even know if your consciousness is still there, why should I tell you so much."

"I always feel that I am more pitiful. I originally thought that you could help us, but I didn't expect that you would fall before the last step." The witch sighed, "Maybe this is fate - anyone who tries to escape time will eventually be bound by time."

After saying this, the witch raised her feet and left the shelter directly.

She left without any hesitation, which was very different from the one Bering had seen her do in the past.

Compared to her past self, it was obvious that the witch was much braver now. At least she was no longer afraid of death, and she was no longer a coward.

Another long period of time passed.

This time, the witch didn't come for a long time.

Bai Ling guessed that this was probably because she had failed in her impact on the origin and had died completely.

As for Starscream, Bering had heard absolutely no news about her.

The refuge was so secluded that no one, not even any monster, approached it. It was like an isolated island, with only the silent tortoise, Bering, perched on the island, watching the sun rise and set, and the lonely clouds move and stop with a calm and indifferent gaze.

Fortunately, Bai Ling no longer feels lonely or sad.

He was like a bystander, quietly watching his time being frozen at this moment and listening to the "tick-tock" sound of the clock that would never move forward.

Wait until I don’t know how long.

Finally, after a crisp "beep".

The shelter, which had not been lit for who knows how long, suddenly became brightly lit.

This was a backup energy source that was supposed to be used long in the future. Now it seemed to have been activated by something and was directly acting on something.

And the thing that was charged with electricity was the huge screen in front of Bailing.

At this moment, the screen was flashing white light like snowflakes, as if something was loading.

After a few minutes, the snowflake-like flickering finally stopped.

The picture also froze in one place.

In the center of the picture, a red "coffin"-like object is shaking restlessly. The thing inside seems to be struggling to push open the coffin lid and try to breathe fresh air.

Looking at the scene in front of him, Bai Ling said nothing and just continued to sit cross-legged and watch.

Two minutes later, the person on the screen finally opened the coffin lid.

Accompanied by the sound of a heavy object falling to the ground, a naked person climbed out of the red "coffin", with hot steam still on his body, and every step he took was extremely staggering.

"This is probably countless times more painful than being locked in an iron maiden and thrown into the Atlantic Ocean. After all, this kind of pain is still physical. And the damage of time will also affect our spirits."

Grabbing the clothes from the side, Wu Dayou put them on casually.

After putting on a shirt that looked a bit too big, he looked at Bering and said, "So, do you understand why we have to completely break up time, or break up 'Bering'?"

"Even if you don't have any real feelings about this world, at least you don't want to be thrown into the Iron Maiden and sink to the bottom of the sea, right?" Wu Dayou said, "It's the same for me. It's better to say that I'm actually a guy who evaded my responsibilities. If I hadn't learned these things later, maybe I would have been living a comfortable life as an anthropologist. Why would I have to seal myself up for hundreds of years?"

As he spoke, he spat fiercely, probably because he was very angry, and cursed at the time fiercely: "Bering, you useless son of a bitch."

Bai Ling still had no reaction after hearing this.

He just stared at the computer screen quietly with his eyes flickering, without saying a word for a long time.
