Qin Nuo's voice was heard on the other end of the phone.
After a while, only the beeping sound remained.
Just hung up.
Qin Nuo looked at the phone, scratched his head and put it back. Just as he put the phone down, a voice came from behind him: "What did you hear on the phone?"
Qin Nuo was stunned for a moment, then turned around and saw the woman at the front desk standing quietly behind him, staring at him.
Qin Nuo looked at her and gave her an awkward but polite smile: "I didn't hear anything. I wanted to answer the phone for you. Then I said hello and the other party hung up."
The woman at the front desk didn't show any change in her expression as she said indifferently, "You can go back to your room."
"I told you during the day to try not to go out at night, but you really like staying outside?"
Qin Nuo said, "I'll just come out to drink some water and leave right away."
After saying that, Qin Nuo walked towards his room.
The woman at the front desk glanced at Qin Nuo, her eyes falling on the brand new landline phone.
"The man on the phone is obviously her husband. If what he said is true, then the woman cheated on her husband and strangled her child to death because she was afraid of having her husband do a paternity test?"
"That's too inhumane. But is everything he said true?"
On the way back to the room, Qin Nuo muttered to himself, but combined with the woman's conversation during the day, he felt that things were not that simple.
But in the end, Qin Nuo patted his head and said speechlessly: "What's the point of reasoning? What does this have to do with me?"
He felt that he should change his habit of involuntarily falling in love with reasoning.
When passing a room, I suddenly heard a strange sound.
Qin Nuo stopped and looked up. The house number was 502. "That's the perverted man in the bloody raincoat. What is he doing in there again?"
Qin Nuo muttered something, and left without paying much attention.
When he returned to the room, Meng was still there holding the music box and singing softly. Qin Nuo came in, locked the door, chatted with Meng for a few words, then lay down on the bed and fell asleep.
…
When Qin Nuo woke up again, he was awakened by a dream.
Meng was sitting on the edge of the bed. The hazy morning light coming through the window fell on her, revealing a dreamy beauty.
Qin Nuo rubbed his eyes, still not coming back to his senses. He glanced at the clock on the wall. It was only a little after six o'clock. He asked, "Isn't it a little early to wake me up at this hour?"
"Brother, someone is knocking on the door." Meng said. She seemed to be a little depressed and didn't dare to open the door herself.
Qin Nuo turned over and got out of bed. He looked through the peephole but saw nothing. He opened the door and looked down to see a puppet standing in front of the door.
He was holding a plate with two breakfasts on it.
"Guests, this is your breakfast, please enjoy it slowly."
"Thank you. Do you want money?" Qin Nuo asked as he picked up the plate.
The puppet seemed not to hear anything, turned around and walked away stiffly.
"It seems that he doesn't want to." Qin Nuo said and closed the door.
"What's for breakfast?" Meng sat on the chair, her eyes full of anticipation. She sat in a well-behaved posture, but she looked like a greedy kitten.
Qin Nuo opened it and saw that the breakfast was very simple, two bowls of white porridge and two sausages made of unknown meat.
There are a lot of white spots on the sausage, which looks quite appetizing...
"I thought it was as delicious as in the restaurant yesterday, but is this all?" Meng said somewhat disappointedly.
"Don't eat too many sweets, otherwise you will gain weight easily." Qin Nuo flicked her forehead lightly with his finger, although he didn't know whether she could really gain weight.
"What is this? It looks delicious."
Meng picked up the sausage and licked the corner of his mouth.
Qin Nuo took it and threw two of them into the trash can: "We don't want to eat this."
"Why?"
"It's dirty." Qin Nuo said casually.
After breakfast, Qin Nuo asked Meng to stay in the room while he went down to the first floor hall.
There were many figures moving around in the hall, but it was still cold and dark.
Qin Nuo arrived at the front desk. The old lady was sitting there, squatting under the cabinet, fiddling with something.
"Grandma?" Qin Nuo knocked on the table.
When the old lady heard the shouting, she slowly stood up and sat on the chair, holding a rag doll in her hand.
There were bright bloodstains on the rag doll, and the fur of some unknown small animal was sewn on it, and it was covered in blood, which looked quite scary.
The old lady came up to Qin Nuo, looked at him carefully for a long moment, and then spoke.
"Young man, did you bring my grandson down here?"
This old lady can't see clearly, but she has a very good memory.
"Grandma, I feel like you are fooling me. I found the child, but his parents said that he is not your grandson at all. They don't even know you." Qin Nuo told the story frankly.
Grandma sat back down, her wrinkled face showing no obvious change of expression, but a sense of loneliness.
"You still haven't brought my grandson down."
Qin Nuo said helplessly: "If I bring him down, it will be considered child trafficking. The parents will probably fight me to the death."
Even though the child's father couldn't beat him...
"Did they tell you I had Alzheimer's or delusions?"
The old lady spoke slowly.
Qin Nuo said nothing.
The old lady sighed and said, "Actually, I know my own body better than anyone else."
"I'm very clear-headed. They always say the same thing to outsiders. I'm used to it."
Qin Nuo raised his eyebrows slightly: "Are you saying they are lying?"
