Looking at the ancient well, Qin Nuo wanted to go over and take a look, but after taking a step, he checked his watch, remained silent for a moment, and turned away.
After Qin Nuo left, the empty space was once again covered by white mist...
On this side, Qin Nuo quickened his pace. Just as he walked out of the alley, he stepped on something, his foot slipped, and he staggered and almost fell to the ground.
Looking back, he saw an Ultraman toy fallen on the ground. Qin Nuo stepped on it and the arm fell out.
An old man with a cane picked up the toy. His hunched body made him look very fragile. It took him a lot of effort to pick it up in his hand.
Qin Nuo looked at him, quickly picked up the broken arm of the toy, and handed it to the old man: "Grandpa, I'm sorry, I was a little anxious when I came out, and I didn't look at my feet and crushed your toy."
"It's okay. I lose that arm all the time anyway. I'm used to it."
The old man slumped his back and spoke hoarsely. He raised his head and looked at Qin Nuo. His eye sockets were completely sunken and there was darkness under his eyelids. There might be eyeballs, but they were invisible.
Such a face was naturally frightening, but Qin Nuo said calmly: "If there is nothing wrong, old man, I will leave first."
As soon as he finished speaking, Qin Nuo's left hand was grabbed, and the biting cold instantly penetrated his skin.
The old man looked at Qin Nuo's face. Under the old tree-bark face, there was an indescribable strangeness: "Kid, you look familiar to grandpa. Are you Qin Bei's child?"
Although it was the first time he heard the name, Qin Nuo knew it was that scumbag father and nodded: "I am."
"You've grown so big now. I remember when I saw you, you were only as tall as my waist."
"Do you still remember my grandson? His name is Ale. You used to play together often. He liked to play hide-and-seek at home."
The old man's words made Qin Nuo look a little strange. He subconsciously looked at the end of the alley, turned his head and smiled, "Yes, we often play together. By the way, Grandpa, where is Ah Le now? When can I play with him again?"
"Haha, he's in school. I'll let him come play with you after school."
Qin Nuo didn't know if it was an illusion or something, but when the old man said this, he always felt that there was a deep and strange light flashing in his eyes.
Covering up the suspicion on his face, Qin Nuo curled his lips and smiled: "Then it's settled, Grandpa. I have something to do, so I'll leave first."
"Go ahead, kid."
The old man, holding the toy and leaning on the cane, slowly disappeared into the fog.
Qin Nuo put aside the matter of the old man and quickly arrived at the bun shop. The boss had already started working inside.
"You little brat, you're late today. Even though you're a child laborer and your pay isn't high, you should still be on time!"
"Sorry, boss, I had some insomnia last night."
Qin Nuo walked into the store and said with his head slightly lowered.
"Why do you suffer from insomnia? Your sleep quality is so poor at this age?" the boss asked with a frown.
Qin Nuo seemed a little embarrassed to speak, but still said: "My father is back."
The boss didn't dwell on the topic after hearing this. He placed a cup of soy milk and two meat buns on the table and said indifferently, "Eat and get back to work."
Seeing the boss leave, the gloomy look in Qin Nuo's eyes disappeared, and he picked up his breakfast and started to eat it voraciously.
"Everyone here seems to know who Qin Bei is. When they mention him, the disgust in their eyes is clear. How corrupt is such an ugly image?"
"In this world where single people are everywhere, it's completely unreasonable to think that you can still get married and have children!"
Qin Nuo was thinking as he ate. He quickly finished his breakfast and his stomach, which had been hungry for so long, was finally satisfied to the point of being 70% full.
When we arrived at the kitchen, we saw bags of flour piled on the ground, plates of meat sauce dripping with blood, and flies flying all over them.
The peak business period at noon soon arrived. Qin Nuo ran back and forth in the kitchen, never stopping his work.
Nearly an hour later, the business at the door gradually became deserted. After the peak period, Qin Nuo slumped in his chair. He was so exhausted that he didn't even want to move a finger.
Qin Nuo looked at the boss who was still busy at the door of the shop, glanced at the photo album on the wall, and suddenly asked: "Boss, have you been busy before I came?"
"It's just me, what's wrong?" The boss rubbed the flour with his hands without looking back.
"No, I just want to ask..." Qin Nuo's eyes fell on the woman in the shirt in the photo frame again.
The boss turned around and looked at Qin Nuo with a cold look in his eyes.
Qin Nuo quickly waved his hands and laughed dryly: "I'm just asking. If the boss doesn't want to talk about it, forget it."
"You want to ask where the boss lady went?"
"Just a little curious."
"The child's mother died a long time ago. She had brain cancer. That's it." The boss obviously didn't want to say more about it.
Qin Nuo originally wanted to ask for details, but when he saw his expression, he gave up the idea.
She stood up and was about to lend a hand when she heard some noise coming from upstairs.
"Is there someone upstairs?" Qin Nuo's eyes moved and he looked upstairs.
The boss said calmly, "That bastard didn't go to class today."
"Is Dafu sick?"
"I don't know. He has been up there all day and hasn't come down. Let him do whatever he wants. I'll just pretend I don't have this son!" The boss became furious when his son was mentioned. He slammed the dough rolling pin in his hand on the table, and it broke into pieces.
