"Excuse me, do you sell 'Encounter' in your store?"
"It's on the second row of shelves just to the left."
"Oh, thank you."
The man pressed down his hat, picked out a piece of Jiang Xin Hai from the neatly row of Jiang Xin Hai on the shelf, and handed it to the boss for payment.
"30 yuan."
As the man paid the bill, he looked around, leaned on the counter, and asked in a low voice, "Hey, how's this special deal?"
"You just came in, how can you sell it?" the boss said, "You are the first one."
"oh."
A look of deep disappointment appeared on the man's face.
He walked out of the store with the album in his pocket and met Jiang Xinhai who was squatting on the street corner.
This mysterious guy is Chen Ya who is taking an exam.
"How are sales?" Jiang Xinhai stood up with a shining look in his eyes and patted his wrinkled clothes.
"Not very good." Chen Ya's voice was full of fatigue.
"After all, it's only the first day, and only the morning has passed. This is still a small shop, so it's normal that we can't sell enough specialties."
Jiang Xinhai was so relieved, even though she herself was unsure.
And just as she finished her words, a passerby turned and walked into the video store.
While Chen Ya was still not seeing, Jiang Xinhai pulled Chen Ya and said:
"Come on, let's go to the city gate and take a look."
"Chengmenkou" is not the entrance of the city gate. The city wall has been demolished long ago. Chengmenkou is just a place name.
This place has the largest video store in the city.
This is a museum of music and a cradle of musicians. No matter how niche or unpopular the singers and bands are, no matter what kind of albums they are, no matter how avant-garde or experimental they are, you can find them here.
Whether the album sells well or not ultimately depends on this.
The two of them are not bored, it's just that they have done everything they can, and they don't have to worry about promotion or quality control.
And even if they wanted to do something, they couldn't. Both Chen Ya and Jiang Xinhai's bank cards had only pitiful balances left. At this moment, both bank cards nestled in Chen Ya's pocket, a feeling of sympathy for each other.
So they simply disguised themselves, ran to the door of the audio store and pretended to be customers, hoping to increase the sales of the album.
They spent another afternoon squatting at the city gate but couldn't figure out what was going on. The clerk was very vigilant and couldn't get any information out of him, so they ran to the KFC Chicken next door for dinner.
Chen Ya flipped through his wallet and said, "I never thought I'd miss Crazy Thursday so much."
"What's Crazy Thursday?" Jiang Xinhai asked with a Coke straw in his mouth.
"Nothing," Chen Ya finished flipping through his wallet, his face clouded with worry. "I can't afford to eat chicken anymore."
In Jiang Xinhai's worldview, she is still a rich woman, and Kentucky Fried Chicken is just cheap fast food, so she looks indifferent.
"How much money is left in my card?" Jiang Xinhai asked.
"Let me see."
He looked down for a moment, then raised his head and said gently, "There are still 13.82 yuan."
"What?!"
Jiang Xinhai slammed his hand on the table and stared at Shui Lingling with wide eyes: "How come there is only so little left?"
"I just paid the utility bill yesterday," Chen Ya said. "And didn't I buy some formal wear a few days ago?"
Jiang Xinhai said dejectedly: "It was a mistake to trust you with the money."
"You can't blame me entirely, right? Who takes such a long shower every day? I don't even know how I used 20 tons of water last month."
Jiang Xinhai blushed and said, "You absolutely can't blame me. The water pressure on that shower head is so low! The fact that you wash quickly only proves that you're a stinky person!"
Stepping on the Stars
"The only reason it smells is because your stinky feet step on the sofa every day, so I got your foot odor."
“My feet don’t stink!”
At this point, both of them felt a little embarrassed. Jiang Xinhai picked up the Coke and drank it with a dull "gulp gulp".
Zhou Peng called, and after Chen Ya answered the phone, he said that the initial 200,000 sets of CDs had been completed, and asked if they wanted to make the remaining 300,000 sets.
"Why not?" Chen Ya said, "Hurry up and do it. The production capacity will definitely be insufficient later."
Zhou Peng said, "Chi Chi, the first 200,000 sets haven't been rolled out yet, and there are still quite a few in the warehouse. I think we should hold off on making them for now. If they're not sold out, I can refund you the money..."
"What refund? No refund. You have to complete 500,000 sets for me, not a single one less." Chen Ya said with gritted teeth.
Zhou Peng hesitated and said, "I feel like the sales on the first day weren't very good. Several channels even called to cancel..."
"That's all a conspiracy of the hostile forces. The quality of the song is very good. Keep doing it and don't stop," said Chen Ya.
After hanging up the phone, Jiang Xinhai threw the phone on the table: "Yingzi is being sarcastic again."
"What did she say?"
"She said that some people just like to use sales as a reason, so this time they're using sales to prove everything... I don't want to say what she said afterwards, it's a bit disgusting."
Chen Ya rubbed his face and sat down on the chair. The waiter next to him came over and asked if he wanted to eat the dishes on the table. He waved his hand and said he would go and clean up other people's dishes first.
The light of the setting sun lengthened the shadows of the street lamps. Suddenly, all the lights in the store turned on, and the sound of calls spread along with the aroma of freshly baked whole chicken.
It suddenly became very quiet.
Jiang Xinhai said: "Chen Ya, I just thought about it."
He looked as if he were in a daze. She pushed his arm and said, "Listen, listen. I just thought about it and it's not necessary to sing. Or rather, it's not necessary to stand on the stage and sing."
