Chapter 421 Paint Doesn't Taste Good

Her mind was a complete mess. She looked around, then gazed at the campus. The tallest building on campus was the teaching building, which had six floors. On the walls outside each classroom were prominent characters such as "Diligent in learning, learned and determined, knowledgeable and capable." There were cement flower beds in the corridors, planted with daffodils, sunflowers, star flowers, and several other flowers that Lan Qingyue found familiar but couldn't name.

In front of the teaching building stands a towering banyan tree, its trunk robust and its branches lush, even taller than the building itself. According to the teachers, this tree was planted when the school was founded. Over the years, batches of students have graduated, and hundreds and thousands of new students have come, but this tree remains here, watching the students grow day by day.

Lan Qingyue withdrew her gaze and saw Chu Chu sticking her bottom out, still curiously looking at the paints. She stretched out one chubby little hand, about to stick it into the paint, when her other hand grabbed her wrist in time.

The little one let out a soft "Eek~", stretched out her five fingers to grab at something, frowned, her chubby face fell, and said in a childish voice, "Sister Xin Xin~ Look at that, let's play~~~"

Liu Xinxin let go of Chu Chu's hand and said in a very soft voice, "Chu Chu, you can't eat or play with that paint, otherwise it will get on your hands and then it won't look good."

Upon hearing this, Chu Chu's outstretched little hands recoiled as if electrocuted. She cupped her face in her hands, her chubby cheeks peeking out from between her fingers, and shook her head, her voice trembling as she spoke, "Chu Chu, don't be ugly~~~ Chu Chu, be cute~~~"

So young, yet so vain; I wonder who she takes after.

Lan Qingyue shook her head.

She explained her idea to Liu Xinxin: she wanted to paint the scenery of the school, but her painting skills were a bit...worrying. Although she had done sketching, drawing, and gouache painting for a few years, she had only done it in the past, not studied it.

What's the difference? It's that in class, the teacher directly tells the students which page to draw on and they hand it in after class, instead of systematic learning.

This is evident when comparing her to a fellow art student. She relied on gradual accumulation and practice to gain a basic foundation, while her classmate, having received systematic training, had her art skills recognized by her professor in her very first university art class, who said that her skills were already excellent and that she was ready to graduate.

Therefore, Lan Qingyue's painting skills are limited to having painted before, but not having formally studied them.

She had always wanted to study art systematically, but never had the opportunity.

Liu Xinxin is very talented in art. She agreed as soon as Lan Qingyue made the suggestion. She had painted a picture of the campus and won the second prize. Moreover, that painting was exhibited in the district.

Lan Qingyue put both hands on Liu Xinxin's shoulders and said with a "serious" expression, "Xinxin, we're counting on you this morning. Chu Chu and I will help you out."

Liu Xinxin exclaimed in surprise, "I...I'm not very good at drawing either, I still need to learn more."

"It's okay, it's okay, as long as you paint better than me, I believe in you." Lan Qingyue showered Liu Xinxin with compliments, making her blush so much she wanted to bury herself in the paint bucket before she drank half a bottle of water to moisten her throat.

Chu Chu was temporarily "neglected," and she poked her dimples with her two little hands in frustration.
