Chapter 426 A Close Call

The game began with the sound of the whistle.

The six little guests, holding the baton, ran like wild horses, while the students behind them watched with baton-wielding gusto, their hearts pounding in their throats. This was especially true for Lan Qingyue's group, who watched as the adorable Chu Chu, with her small arms and short legs, ran with all her might, yet still couldn't outrun her teammates.

Chu Chu's legs were too short, and she couldn't take long strides. Each of their strides was equivalent to two or three of hers. Almost the instant the whistle blew, she was left far behind by everyone else.

The little one stood there bewildered for a second, then her chubby cheeks jiggled. She seemed to see snacks waving at her from the other side, and immediately hugged the baton, giggling as she ran over.

Before Chu Chu could reach the other side, Lin Muze and Xiu Kaijie had already returned. Lin Muze was a little faster than Xiu Kaijie. The baton was passed to Yu Qingqing and Lin Ranran, who ran forward without hesitation. The third to return was Liang Xiyu. Sisi ran unhurriedly, just as her father had said: safety is the most important thing, no rush. Besides, she was in no hurry and could overtake Chu Chu.

Now it was Si Yiming's turn to panic. How was he going to catch up with Yu Qingqing and the others once they ran back?

Fortunately, Sisi didn't take the leisurely stroll. On the way back, she quickened her pace and returned with Qi Huanhuan.

Si Yiming and Guan Zhizhi ran out, and Chu Chu had just returned from the other side when she saw Yu Qingqing and Lin Ranran running back as well, and she even giggled at them.

Lan Qingyue was too ashamed to look back at those young faces.

The initial advantage of Yu Qingqing and Lin Ranran's groups was their two sons, while the advantage of Si Yiming's group was himself. He outran four female guests, followed by Yu Qingqing, Lin Ranran, Chen Xueyun, and Guan Zhizhi. The guests started, and then it was up to the students to perform.

Lan Qingyue was still waiting for Chu Chu, this "snail," and was so anxious he felt like he was about to stomp out an ocean.

As Chu Chu got closer and closer to the snacks, her smile grew wider and wider, her mouth practically reaching the back of her head. Seeing the little girl's eyes narrow into slits with laughter, completely oblivious to where she was going, Lan Qingyue looked up to the sky and prayed, "Please don't fall! Please don't fall! Please don't fall!"

It was a close call, but no real danger.

Lan Qingyue smoothly took over the baton and, taking advantage of her long legs, awkwardly kept pace with the first student who ran back. By the time the first student in her group ran out, the other groups had already reached their second student.

She hadn't run this fast in a long time. In those few seconds, she felt like she had put in the same fierce effort she did during her physical education entrance exam. Now her throat was dry and she didn't want to talk.

After the guests started, they had to stand aside and watch the students' competition. Lan Qingyue picked up Chu Chu, the chubby girl, and moved her aside to prevent her from jumping around.

Halfway through the competition, the strength of each group began to show a clear gap. For example, Lan Qingyue's group, which was temporarily at the bottom at the beginning, jumped to the top three, while Si Yiming's group began to weaken.

"come on!"

"come on!"

"come on!"

Cheers rose and fell from the sidelines, igniting everyone's fighting spirit. The closer it got to the end, the more tense the atmosphere became. Lan Qingyue's group still had two students waiting, as did Chen Xueyun, Lin Ranran, and Yu Qingqing's group. Si Yiming's group had three students, and Guan Zhizhi's group also had three students.
