Chapter 53 The Unhelpful Drooling

It was rare for people to come to the village, especially such a beautiful mother and daughter, who instantly attracted everyone's attention. The old man stopped fanning himself, and the children stopped running, all curiously looking at them.

Chu Chu wasn't shy at all and smiled at everyone she met, but Lan Qingyue felt very uncomfortable. She was too much of a homebody and rarely went out to meet many people. She didn't know how to face the elderly and children, so she could only bite the bullet and say, "Hello, grandpa and grandma, hello, little friends."

Chu Chu waved her chubby little hands to greet the elderly and children. Two shallow dimples appeared on her chubby face. The delicate and beautiful child was especially endearing.

Lan Qingyue held Chu Chu's hand and walked slowly along the cement road in the countryside. A sense of familiarity washed over her, but unfortunately, this was not her hometown; she was in a book.

Chuchu, this little bundle of joy, was incredibly generous. Holding her little bag in one hand, she grabbed a handful of food with the other and shared it with the children around her, which made the children jump around even more happily.

Lan Qingyue just wanted to find a house as soon as possible. If she still hadn't found a house when the second group of guests arrived, she would be in a passive position.

Most of the houses in this small village are small multi-story buildings, with only a few mud-brick and tile houses. The further you go into the village, the more remote the place becomes. Further out, you can see fields. It is the busy farming season, and the villagers are harvesting corn, peanuts, and rice in the fields. The cicadas in the trees are chirping, as if they too are sensing the atmosphere of the harvest.

"Mommy, Guoguo~~~" The little boy pointed to a yellow fruit tree not far away, his eyes shining, and his little pink lips couldn't help but smack.

I have a few wampee trees at home, and they should be ready to eat now. Seeing such familiar fruit trees in another world feels incredibly comforting.

“That’s called yellow-skinned fruit,” Lan Qingyue squatted down, “It’s sweet and sour and tastes delicious.”

Chu Chu: "..." Stop talking, my drool is already overflowing.

Lan Qingyue carried Chu Chu back, the little one perched on her shoulder, gazing longingly at the ever-shrinking yellow-skinned fruit tree.

After walking around the village, Lan Qingyue took a look at the houses. Excluding those with their doors closed, she spotted a two-story house with its door wide open, revealing the living room with a vintage yellow lacquered wooden sofa, an LCD TV, a desk, and a few paintings on the wall. It was simple, yet it easily evoked Lan Qingyue's longing for home.

"Chuchu, do you like it here?" Lan Qingyue looked down at the restless little one in her arms. Chuchu was turning her round head, looking left and right. Suddenly being called on, her chubby cheeks jiggled. She looked in the direction Lan Qingyue was looking, still a little confused, and patted her chubby little hands. "I like it~~~ Mommy has flowers~~~"

Chu Chu pointed in a direction, and Lan Qingyue then saw several flowers on the desk—handmade roses made of rolled-up sponge sheets. "I can fold roses too!" she said.

Lan Qingyue proudly raised her chin. Not to brag, but she really did know how to roll these kinds of roses when she was little, and she could also fold origami cranes and lucky stars. Now, she's almost forgotten all of that.

"Mommy is so amazing~~~" Chu Chu clapped her hands even more.

Lan Qingyue put Chu Chu down, took her hand, and led her to the door. She peered inside, but no one was home. "Excuse me, is anyone home?"

She asked twice, but no one answered. Chu Chu imitated her and asked in a childish voice, but there was no response from inside the house. "It seems no one is home. Let's go find another house."

The two turned around somewhat disappointed, when a girl came towards them, startling both of them.
