“I won’t wear it,” Lan Qingyue refused. “I sweat easily, and I won’t feel cold when I walk later. This is just right. If I put on a jacket, I will definitely sweat and it will be uncomfortable.”
Qi Yu didn't insist that Lan Qingyue wear it, but he still gave it to her. Lan Qingyue put on a very large wide-brimmed hat, a pair of big and ugly glasses, and a mask. She disguised herself so well that even her own mother wouldn't recognize her. She also gave Qi Yu a mask, saying, "Wear it. We can't let anyone see our faces."
Qi Yu: "..."
Are our faces so shameful?
Lan Qingyue said with a very serious expression, "Your face is too flashy. If you get photographed and it makes the news, it won't matter to you, you'll just get more attention. I don't want to run into my classmates and not be able to explain myself no matter what."
This is her bottom line.
Qi Yu pursed his thin lips, somewhat resistant to the mask Lan Qingyue offered. The mask was a refreshing blue, a color too bright for him to have ever tried before. He asked Lan Qingyue, "Do you have a black mask?"
Lan Qingyue answered decisively, "No."
It's ridiculous how they dawdle over putting on a mask.
"Do you want to wear it or not? If not, I'll go out by myself."
She was just saying it casually; when she went out on her own, she really didn't know the way, and she rarely went out at night, let alone to crowded night markets.
Qi Yu knew she was just impatient. If he really let her go alone, she wouldn't dare. He didn't call her out on it. After some resistance, she put on the mask and put her arm around Lan Qingyue's waist as they entered the elevator.
I ran into Yunfei at the door. He was dressed in a suit and tie, his hair was neatly styled, and he looked like a business elite. But why was he holding skewers in both hands like a child guarding his food?
You dressed like that to go to the night market to buy barbecue?
Lan Qingyue imagined Yunfei Station looking perfectly straight as he bought barbecue from a barbecue stall, and found it really funny.
Qi Yu felt a sting in his eyes and kept his gaze straight ahead, not intending to act as if he knew Yun Fei. Yun Fei, however, ran over cheerfully, handing him a skewer of lamb. "Young Master Qi, Miss Lan, are you going out? These are lamb skewers I bought at the night market. They're not gamey at all, and they smell amazing. Would you like to try some?"
Lamb skewers! Lan Qingyue loves lamb, but she's never had lamb skewers before. The rich aroma of cumin wafts through the air, and Lan Qingyue can't help but swallow, feeling hungry again.
"I'm not eating. You can savor it slowly. Don't come to see me tomorrow dressed like this." With that, Qi Yu left with Lan Qingyue, leaving Yun Fei looking utterly miserable.
He finished eating downstairs before entering the elevator. Thinking of Qi Yu's words, he pinched his collar and sniffed it, but there was no smell.
The night market was filled with barbecue, and many young men and women sat around small round tables, eating meat and drinking beer heartily, which made Lan Qingyue hungry.
The first barbecue stall had a long queue, and the second, third, and so on up to the 10th stall. Lan Qingyue hated long queues the most; just seeing them made her want to faint.
Lan Qingyue said, "Let's continue looking for a place with fewer people."
"Mmm." Qi Yu tightened his grip on Lan Qingyue, making sure she wouldn't be pushed away by others while she was looking around.
Lan Qingyue was practically dragged along by Qi Yu, not even looking at where she was going, only at the food. "Oh! What's that? Let's go see!"
