Chapter 412

"Uncle Cai, Uncle Cai, how can we buy candy if we don't have money~~~" Little Chu Chu nimbly climbed into Director Cai's arms, sprawled out on her back, using his round belly as a pillow, her two chubby little legs swinging back and forth. "Uncle Cai, Chu Chu wants to buy candy for Uncle Cai~~~"

Director Cai's eyes lit up, and his heart exploded in an instant, rising like tiny bubbles and bursting, releasing warmth that made him feel cozy. How could there be such an adorable little baby? Young Master Chu Xiao is so lucky to have such a lovely and thoughtful little darling. It's a pity he couldn't spend much time with her.

Sigh~

Poor little darling. Director Cai's defenses suddenly crumbled. He hugged the tiny bundle tightly, as if afraid someone would snatch it away. He snorted at the adults who were letting their child whine, saying it was too much to "use" these adorable little ones to "break through" his defenses.

Hmph!

Everyone finally received their beloved little money—one hundred yuan. There was only one hundred yuan, one hundred yuan for each person, and they could spend it all.

Everyone walked out of the school gate happily and contentedly. Director Cai looked back at those few kids who had "used" him and then run away with resentment. It hurt him so much. He felt heartbroken, pitiful, weak, and helpless.

Waaaaaah~~~

The familiar guests chatted and laughed, while Simin, a grown man, "had no say" and stood alone at the back of the line, the two children having already "abandoned" him to go play with their friends.

The school is in a town, or rather, it's not exactly a town; you have to walk further in to get to the town center. The area around the school consists of contracted orchards and farmland. There are no buses passing by, so when students go home on weekends, their parents either pick them up at the school gate or they walk to the bus stop outside, a journey of about twenty minutes.

The familiar guests chatted and laughed, while the children walked hand in hand inside. The further they went outside, the more people there were. There were residential houses on both sides, and some elderly people sat at their doorsteps fanning themselves with palm-leaf fans. When they saw a group of outstanding-looking people, they greeted them curiously, "Are you a new teacher at the school, young lady? Have you had dinner yet?"

The elderly person may not speak Mandarin well and uses their ethnic language, which the guests have never been exposed to since childhood and cannot understand.

Lan Qingyue understood. Hearing such a familiar ethnic language in this foreign world, she was pleasantly surprised and smiled as she replied in the same language, "I've eaten, you've eaten too, haven't you?"

Old man: "I've eaten, I've just eaten. You should go to the street. It's not market day today, so it's not lively. Tomorrow will be market day, and there will be lots of people."

Lan Qingyue replied, "Okay, we're new here from yesterday. We've been interning at the school for a few days, so we came out to stroll around. The streets will be lively tomorrow, right? Let's go out and take a look tomorrow too."

After saying a few words, Lan Qingyue left with everyone. Lin Ranran came over and took Lan Qingyue's hand, asking, "Teacher Lan, what were you saying to that old man? I couldn't understand a word."

Lan Qingyue blinked and replied, "That old man asked us if we were new teachers at the school, whether we had eaten, and if we wanted to go for a stroll on the street, since it wasn't market day and it wasn't lively."

"Ah!" Lin Ranran exclaimed in surprise, "It's not market day today? I'm curious what market day is like in town. Is it more lively than market day in the countryside?"

During their seven-day rural life in the previous episode, they encountered market days several times and gained some understanding of the term.
