Chapter 36, The 36th Beam of Light: "Husband...call me three times."

Chapter 36, The 36th Beam of Light: "Husband...call me three times."

When Song Xingyun came to her senses, the man had already left the tent.

She turned around and only saw a corner of the fluttering tent curtain, then murmured blankly, "I like...you?"

Strangely, she didn't immediately refute it.

Song Xingyun clutched her chest, where her heartbeat hadn't quite calmed down yet. "What's wrong? It's pounding so hard. Why are you standing so close when you're supposed to be talking..."

"Is that the point? The point is that he misunderstood!"

She hurriedly followed him out, saying, "Boss."

But as soon as Song Xingyun stepped outside, she was captivated by the profile of the man with a beaming smile. She understood why her heart was racing; who wouldn't be attracted to such a handsome man? Did this kind of attraction count?

“I know you like it, but there’s no need to stare at it so intently. It’s not like it’s the first time we’ve seen each other.” Yu Mushang spoke, but his voice trailed off.

If it were anyone else, Song Xingyun would have rolled her eyes long ago.

But the object of her attention was Yu Mushang. She just felt that her boss was a little different today. Although he was narcissistic, he seemed to be secretly pleased.

Song Xingyun raised her hand to fan her burning face. "No, I was watching 'Long Live to a Hundred Years.'" She compared her boss to a dog again.

Yu Mushang's expression was indeed somewhat displeased, and his tone was not as warm as before. "Take down the tent. I was forced to lie down for so long, and my whole body aches, especially my back, ouch..." Every sentence sounded like a complaint.

Song Xingyun dared not say anything and could only carry out the orders quickly. Throughout the process, her little mouth was pursed like an old lady.

After returning the tent, the two men and two dogs went for a walk along the forest path, where the shade of the trees provided welcome relief from the sun.

Song Xingyun stole glances at the people around her with every step she took, and finally couldn't help but explain, "Boss, it seems you misunderstood me earlier."

Yu Mushang: ?

His heart tightened inexplicably. "Did Assistant Song change her mind and not like it anymore?"

Song Xingyun was at her wit's end. "It's either... or..."

The man snorted coldly, "Then it's not a misunderstanding. Assistant Song, there's no need to be embarrassed. Anyway, I can't see it."

Song Xingyun: ...

Anyway, he can't see it, it'll really hurt her feelings.

Yu Mushang calmed down and realized that she had been too hasty earlier. Her rapid-fire questions and answers had not given her enough time to think things through, and now, looking back, she realized that there were many flaws in her thinking.

He shouldn't exaggerate those so-called hopes.

Although they had only spent a week together, he had some understanding of her absent-minded nature. Maybe she really wasn't doing it on purpose? He felt like the previous few hours had been a dream.

Just as Song Xingyun keenly noticed Yu Mushang's change in mood, she saw him quicken his pace by half a step compared to hers, and then she heard his voice coming from ahead, "Assistant Song, it's best not to do anything that could be misunderstood in the future. It's easy for people to misunderstand. There's no need to mention what happened before."

Only he knew that his heart ached terribly when he said those words.

Just pretend it's a dream; he almost fooled himself.

Yu Mushang reverted to his usual cold, robotic demeanor, his change of expression so swift that it caught Song Xingyun off guard. "I understand, boss," she said, inwardly grateful that he was so forgiving.

Upon hearing her answer, he closed his eyes to conceal his emotions.

Song Xingyun discovered that her vision was normal, but she was not as nimble as Yu Mushang. She didn't know what to say along the way. Even though the misunderstanding had been cleared up, she still couldn't relax.

The two walked around the woods in silence, the atmosphere quite different from when they first arrived that morning.

Yu Mushang even interacts with dogs more than she does with her.

After walking for an unknown amount of time, Song Xingyun started massaging her legs, and the heavy breathing and patting sounds reached the man's ears.

As they passed a pavilion, he followed the instructions of the smart cane and went inside. Song Xingyun's eyes lit up; finally, she could rest. She asked uncertainly, "Boss, want to take a break?"

Yu Mushang only gave a faint "hmm," which almost made her shiver.

Song Xingyun pouted slightly, feeling a tightness in her chest.

She watched as he skillfully took out the snacks that Changming and Baisui usually liked from his bag and fed them by hand. When facing the two Labrador Retrievers, his smile softened a little. Seeing this, Song Xingyun's lips curled up even higher, and she sighed inwardly, a sigh that she herself did not understand.

The scene of the two people and the dog was heartwarming. Song Xingyun noticed that Yu Mushang had even brought more than one kind of snack. While admiring his thoughtfulness, she also felt happy for Changming and the dog's long and healthy life. She picked up her camera and pointed it at them. Before she could even check the photos, the camera ran out of battery.

Unfortunately, she wanted to take a group photo with them.

Thinking of this, she secretly took out her phone and snapped two photos, barely managing to squeeze herself into their cozy scene, and was fairly satisfied with the result.

Seeing that Yu Mushang did not intend to leave immediately, Song Xingyun took out her small sketchbook from her bag and quickly sketched the man's appearance on the paper.

Because of her good drawing skills, her mood recovered quickly.

This is only the second time she has painted him; the first time, he was mostly naked...

Yu Mushang also heard the rustling sound; she was painting.

He really wanted to ask her what she was drawing, but he was afraid that if he talked to her, he would inevitably ask her why she didn't like him, and he didn't want that.

He lowered his head and pressed his temples, hiding his self-deprecating smile. How could he be worthy of her liking?

Standing to the side, Song Xingyun wanted to honestly and generously give the painting to Yu Mushang, but she was unsure how to begin in this atmosphere.

She remembered what Yu Mushang had said about the smart cane that could recognize images and convert them into text. She looked at the headphones he was wearing, took the painting, and quietly approached him, then displayed the painting in front of the cane from all angles.

She didn't know where the camera on the white cane was.

Seeing that neither the white cane nor Yu Mushang responded, she was puzzled. Could it be that this generation is not capable of such advanced map reading?

Her movements did not escape Yu Mushang's ears, and with the jumbled words coming through the earphone, "a painting, a man, a painting, a piece of paper."

His brows had barely furrowed when Song Xingyun gave up on having him read pictures with the cane and decided to have him read words directly. Her eyes were busy searching for the camera on the cane, and she casually opened a translation app. Confidently, she typed a line of text on the phone without looking at the screen.

Found it! This camera was really well hidden.

Without a second thought, Song Xingyun shoved her phone screen right in front of the camera. The distance was perfect, and she had roughly estimated the camera's field of view.

The white cane did indeed recognize the text, and the message even reached Yu Mushang's ears: "It recognized the text..."

The next sentence made the man, who had been hanging his head, suddenly look up. His voice was a little hoarse, and his tone was somewhat doubtful, "Song Xingyun, what did you call me?"

The person who was adjusting the distance of the white cane with the phone was startled by Yu Mushang's sudden voice. The thumb accidentally touched the "convert playback" button on the screen, and the mechanical female voice "translated" her words into Chinese.

"Honey, I'd like to give you a painting."

Song Xingyun: ?! What "husband"? I clearly typed "boss"!

She gripped her phone so tightly in her nervousness that she accidentally turned the volume up to the maximum.

In her haste to return to her phone, she accidentally touched it three more times in a row, interrupting the voice recording three times. As a result, the voice message echoed throughout the pavilion three times.

"husband……"

"husband……"

"Husband, I..."
