Chapter 61, The 61st Beam of Light: "The Secret in the Wooden Cabinet".

Chapter 61, The 61st Beam of Light: "The Secret in the Wooden Cabinet".

Upon hearing Song Xingyun's words, Ying Qi very considerately made room for the young couple, and went inside first while still munching on his sandwich.

"Hmm?" Seeing that Yu Mushang didn't answer for a long time, Song Xingyun let out a puzzled sound, but then thought that maybe he didn't know that she was asking him. But why did he seem to be lost in thought? "Boss?"

Yu Mushang was brought back to his senses by her words. He put down his cup, his two fingertips lightly grinding against it from behind the glass, completely forgetting to take out a tissue to wipe the milk residue off his hands. "What did you say?"

Song Xingyun patiently repeated her question again, and this time Yu Mushang followed up on her question, "What...what did your father say in your dream?"

No one knew that he was a little nervous when he asked the question, but his hand was quickly grasped by her soft hand, followed by the feeling of wiping with a tissue. Song Xingyun did this very naturally and did not think much of it.

She wiped his hands clean but didn't let go. Instead, she held his hand and said slowly, "My father told me that I must be happy."

Yu Mushang paused for a moment, then breathed a sigh of relief, "Thank goodness, it wasn't something that would upset you..."

Song Xingyun nodded and then shook her head. "I'm not as heartbroken as when I dreamed about him before, but..." She paused for a second, her tone becoming more subdued than before, "But, I haven't had a chance to tell him that I'm happy now, or even tell him your name."

Yu Mushang didn't know why, but hearing her words, tears welled up in his eyes. Since he lost his sight, his tear ducts seemed to have stopped functioning, but now, he actually wanted to cry...

"It's okay, I believe he will come to see you again, and you'll have another chance to tell him next time."

The slight sob in his voice startled Song Xingyun. She looked up abruptly, her gaze meeting his reddened eyes. "You... why are you crying..."

Yu Mushang hadn't expected his tear ducts to be so sensitive today. Since he couldn't hide it, he decided not to. He sniffed and held her hand in return. "It's nothing. I just feel that Xingxing is the strongest girl in the world. She's had a tough journey."

Song Xingyun knew he was worried about her, and their emotions were probably fluctuating. Seeing him upset because of her made her feel less sad, so she quickly pulled herself out of her emotions and comforted him, saying, "It's not hard, you're here to protect me, aren't you?"

After all, he had been protecting her for seven years, more than 2,500 days and nights.

She still has him, but he has lost his parents, lost his sight, and has to bear the heavy burden of the Yu Group. Apart from Ying Qike, he has almost no one to help him. Thinking of this, Song Xingyun's nose tingled again. "You've worked hard too. May you walk the flower path from now on, Yu Mushang. I will be with you."

She didn't expect her emotions to collapse like this so early in the morning. Now that the two of them have met, it can be said that they have suffered first but are now happy. They can keep each other warm, which is good.

"Really?" Yu Mushang asked her with a hint of uncertainty.

Song Xingyun immediately slapped the back of his hand. "Doubting me?" But she didn't act childishly at this moment. Instead, she said more firmly, "Really, I will stand by you!"

Fearing he still wouldn't believe her, Song Xingyun cupped his face in her hands and said, "Yu Mushang, although I can't give you a lot of money, I believe I can give you a lot of love."

Ying Qi had just taken a step out when he heard Song Xingyun's words, so he went back. He went straight to the bathroom and called Uncle Lin. When he spoke, he was in tears. "Uncle Lin, she really said that."

"Will things not be so tough for the boss anymore?"

He thought Uncle Lin would share his sentiment that his boss had finally found someone who could share his joys and sorrows, but to his surprise, Uncle Lin remained silent on the other end of the phone and even sighed at the end.

Ying Qi asked, puzzled, "Why are you sighing?"

Uncle Lin pursed his lips on the other end of the phone. "I'm getting old, and I don't know how many more years I can spend with you all. As long as you're all doing well, I won't have any regrets when I'm gone." He thought it was better not to let Ying Qi know too much. He was content to just be simple and happy like this every day.

Uncle Lin's sudden emotional words made Ying Qi even more upset. "Old man, what nonsense are you talking about? You'll live to be three hundred!" Afraid that Uncle Lin would say more of these things he didn't want to hear, he quickly hung up the phone. When he came out of the bathroom, Song Xingyun was already drawing new product design drafts at her workstation.

Ying Qi felt gratified to see that the boss's wife not only loved her boss, but also loved her work!

In one morning, Ying Qiniu worked with great energy to control the online rumors accusing Song Xingyun of plagiarism, and he also managed to smear her as well. Public opinion immediately turned against him, and opinions were divided.

Song Xingyun wasn't idle either. After finishing her work, she made a rare contact with her former colleagues at Yingmeng Comics Studio. They were all people whose works had been forcibly appropriated by Zhong Shichao to some extent, but as they said, over the years, they couldn't fight against the powerful.

The group was somewhat surprised to receive her message. Song Xingyun was worried that if people found out she was still in contact with them after leaving, it would affect their work and make things difficult for them. After all, she had made such a scene in the office when she left, and she was worried that Zhong Shichao would keep a record of those who had spoken up for her. They had all kept quiet for so long, hoping that the other was doing well.

They are now standing up for her because of the negative comments online.

Song Xingyun thought for a long time before she finally typed out the message: "Are you willing to stand up with me...?" She knew that making this decision would be difficult, and there were only two possible outcomes. If she failed, she might cause them all to lose their jobs or even be expelled from the industry.

"It's okay, no need to rush to reply." After asking, Song Xingyun realized that she hadn't thought things through well. They should want to live a peaceful life, and she shouldn't have dragged them into this vortex. She thought that if she could give everyone a fair chance on her own, that would be good enough.

Just as she was sighing, Ying Qi hurried out of Yu Mushang's office and called out to her, "Assistant Song, are you done with your work?"

Song Xingyun put down her phone. "Are you done with your work? Is there anything I can help you with?"

Ying Qi beckoned to her with his finger, "I'll take you to organize the archives." He used to organize them all by himself, since the business secrets piled up inside were really not suitable for hiring another archivist. Now that he had Assistant Song, things would be much easier. He knew with his eyes closed that she was trustworthy.

"I'll be right there after I've packed up." Song Xingyun agreed, and after putting away her drawing board, paper, and equipment at her workstation, she quickly got up. Ying Qi had been waiting for her for a while. "Let's go."

Song Xingyun followed Ying Qi down the corridor and stopped in front of the second to last, very inconspicuous door. She watched as Ying Qi took out his key and opened the door, and she was a little surprised. "I always thought this was a storeroom."

After all, whose archive room door is just a broken wooden plank? Sometimes when she passed by at night and heard a "creaking" sound, she suspected that a nest of fat rats lived inside, a place that a thief wouldn't even glance at.

Hearing her say this, Ying Qi looked very proud, and Song Xingyun thought that it seemed that he had contributed to setting up the archives here.

The next second, he said, "Haven't you heard that the most dangerous place is the safest place? Aren't I clever?"

Song Xingyun nodded solemnly, "Very clever."

Ying Qi pushed the door open. The room was quite large. At first glance, Song Xingyun thought she had entered a small library. She had expected it to be messy, but the folders were neatly arranged on the iron shelves.

"There seems to be no need to tidy up this place?" Song Xingyun began to suspect that he had just brought her here for a tour.

It wasn't until Ying Qi pushed open another small door that Song Xingyun saw the mountain of papers inside. "Put these on the shelves and categorize them!"

Although there is an archive room in the Yu Group building, all of Yu Mushang's initial drafts, new designs, new concept drawings, as well as decisions and ideas he jotted down, are collected in the archive room of Villa No. 9.

Song Xingyun flipped through them. "You and the boss aren't letting any scrap paper produced at Villa No. 9 go unnoticed?"

Ying Qi nodded, "That's a very apt explanation. The boss said that some things might be needed at any time, so we should put them away for now."

Song Xingyun had only a superficial understanding of business matters, but since it was Yu Mushang who made the decision, there must be a reason behind it. "Hmm, shall I take a look around first?"

Ying Qi was already squatting in that small room, ready to start working, without even turning her head. "Sure, feel free to look around, we're all family here."

Hearing him say that, Song Xingyun turned and went to the iron shelf. Ying Qi was still talking to himself, "But the wooden cabinet at the very back can't be touched." No one answered. He looked back and saw that everyone had gone far away. He muttered again, "The lock on that wooden cabinet seems to be hanging there all year round. It can't be opened without a key, so there's no need to remind him." Then he let her go.

Song Xingyun walked along the cabinets in the order they were arranged. When she reached the last place, she roughly understood the rules for categorizing and placing the cabinets. Just as she was about to go back to find Ying Qi, she accidentally tripped over the corner of the iron shelf in her haste. She stumbled and finally managed to steady herself by bracing her hand on the nearest wooden cabinet.

It made a small sound.

Then came the crisp sound of the lock on the wooden cabinet falling to the ground. Because the cabinet door was not "restrained" by the lock, it opened by itself, and the papers inside all slid out, startling her so much that her eyes widened.

The commotion was so loud that Ying Qi, who was some distance away, poked his head out and asked, "What happened? What's wrong?"

Song Xingyun regained her balance and quickly replied, "I tripped, but I'm fine."

Ying Qi didn't think much of it and scratched his head again to continue organizing the papers in his hand.

Song Xingyun looked at the papers scattered all over the floor, her head spinning. Then she glanced at the old-fashioned wooden cabinet and took a deep breath. "The owner is really sentimental..."

She crouched down and picked up the lock first, wondering if there was any way to salvage it. Fortunately, the lock was just not locked properly, which led to the situation. She breathed a sigh of relief and decided to put the item back and lock it again.

Thinking of this, she picked up the scattered papers one by one, even rearranging them by page number. She thought it would be a simple task, but unexpectedly, as she pieced the documents together, her hands trembled violently...

It was all because she saw a name on the document that was all too familiar...

Tears welled up in her eyes without her noticing. In the blink of an eye, a tear fell and soaked the three words she had been staring at.

"Song Huazhang..."
