Chapter 5

The sunlight danced, casting a warm glow on the leaves that hadn't yet turned yellow, yet Lu Shizhen felt an undeniably real sense of desolate autumn chill.

She sat there in the last row of the shuttle bus, her slightly stunned eyes fixed on the girl's back in the front row, light swirling within them, the darkness filled with disbelief.

I just helped Xu Shiyue vent her anger, so why was I penalized with a point deducted?

What kind of farmer and snake story is this?

Or is it...?

Lu Shizhen thought to herself and turned her gaze to the system floating beside her.

Something seemed to flash past the shuttle bus's rearview mirror before the system itself could react, and Lu Shizhen had already picked it up.

Then it felt a violent tremor in its body. Lu Shizhen patted its body several times, just like she was repairing a broken appliance.

"Sizzle, sizzle..."

Electric currents surged in the sunlight, and the shimmering wings shook out many electric-like stars.

The little ball was dazed by Lu Shizhen's pats and was released by her while swaying from side to side. It said with a wronged look, "Host, the system is not a product of your human world. Your human methods of repairing electrical appliances are completely useless to me."

"Moreover, the points system is not connected to the data in my body, so no matter how much you pat me, it won't work."

Upon hearing this, Lu Shizhen's shoulders slumped even further, as if clinging to a sliver of hope, she asked, "What if it malfunctions?"

"No, it won't. The points system is a massive system with extremely high algorithm precision written by the Supreme God, and it has never had any problems running all these years." The little ball said to Lu Shizhen with righteous indignation, "The bug where the host's points are not displayed is also because the number of points that need to be counted is too large, and the algorithm cannot count them all at once."

After spending the past two days together, this was the first time Lu Shizhen had heard this unreliable little ball speak to her in such a serious tone.

It felt like upholding a belief that one holds as a god, and not allowing anyone to question it.

Because of this, Lu Shizhen had to accept the fact that her score had indeed been reduced by one point.

A gentle breeze swept around the shuttle bus, ruffling Zhen's long hair as it landed.

She looked at the huge villa she now owned and let out a long sigh.

What's the use of having countless riches if you can't accumulate enough points? In the end, you'll still disappear.

Nothing will belong to her, including these healthy legs she has just acquired.

The wind rustled through the paper bag, and Lu Shizhen belatedly realized that the sandwich in her hand had gone cold.

She really felt that the transmigration book she had been given was exceptionally difficult; she was now in a situation where doing something was wrong, and not doing anything was also wrong.

The girl sighed and simply opened the cold sandwich and ate it herself.

Looking at Lu Shizhen's lowered eyelashes, Xiaoqiu instantly realized that what she had just said was a bit too emotional.

The round little ball fluttered its tiny wings and landed on Lu Shizhen's head, clumsily offering words of comfort: "Host, don't be discouraged. The road ahead is long, and success cannot be achieved overnight. How can you see a rainbow without experiencing wind and rain?"

The shuttle bus quickly brought Lu Shizhen and Xu Shiyue back to the villa, and the elevator took them up to the second floor.

In order to confuse and please Xu Shiyue, the original owner specially built a high-end treatment room for her. Money was spent like water, but the expensive equipment was left to gather dust. It was only used once when Xu Shiyue was first brought back.

It has to be said that only a madman like the original owner could do something so wasteful.

As Lu Shizhen was reflecting on this, Aunt Sun pushed open the door to the consultation room.

Upon seeing the newcomer, Qin Wen immediately stood up from his chair, followed by a slender woman.

This must be the ophthalmology expert friend that Aunt Sun mentioned.

As Lu Shizhen was judging, Qin Wen had already walked up to her and took the initiative to introduce her: "Miss, this is my fellow disciple, Shen Cheng, who is currently the deputy chief physician of the ophthalmology department at the First Affiliated Hospital of S University."

Lu Shizhen was genuinely surprised when she heard Qin Wen mention the position, and couldn't help but marvel at the power of money.

These feelings, however, were destined to remain hidden in her heart. As a spoiled and eccentric young man, she had to act as if she were used to it, and said in an exceptionally calm tone: "Hello."

Shen Cheng spoke politely and without airs: "Hello, Ms. Lu. Xiao Qin told me about Ms. Xu's condition last night. I reviewed Ms. Shen's previous medical reports this morning. I would like to conduct some simple examinations on Ms. Xu. Is that alright?"

That's absolutely fantastic!

Lu Shizhen nodded excitedly to herself, struggling to maintain the original owner's calm and collected demeanor, and nodded calmly to Shen Cheng: "Okay."

“Okay, let’s begin now.” Shen Cheng nodded and walked towards Xu Shiyue, who was standing behind Lu Shizhen. “Miss Xu, this way.”

Sunlight streamed through the windows into the room, and the quiet room was filled with the sound of instruments starting up.

This was the first time Lu Shizhen had ever watched a medical examination from an outsider's perspective. Whether out of curiosity or concern for Xu Shiyue's condition, she wanted to stay.

Looking around the room, Lu Shizhen spotted a particularly comfortable-looking single sofa.

This place is excellent. Not only can you see all the instruments in the room without any obstruction, but the sunlight from the window also falls perfectly into this corner.

It's as if the location was precisely calculated before it was determined.

As soon as Lu Shizhen sat down, a fact came to mind.

Such a good location was no accident; it was deliberately arranged by the original owner!

Lu Shizhen snorted inwardly, "As expected of her," and when she looked up again, Xu Shiyue had already been arranged by Shen Cheng to sit in the chair of the professional equipment.

Her body was even straighter than Shen Cheng's, who was sitting opposite her. Her slender arms were casually draped over her legs, and every curve exuded elegance from the very core of her being.

The sun was shining brightly, and she sat there quietly, with only the strands of hair tied low behind her back fluttering slightly in the breeze from the air conditioner.

Its upright posture gives people the feeling that it will never collapse, just like a green bamboo struggling to grow from the rocks, exuding a sense of aloofness and coldness in this bleak autumn season.

As Lu Shizhen watched, she couldn't help but slow down her breathing.

Her past experiences made her more empathetic towards Xu Shiyue, and she wanted her eyes to get better as soon as possible, not just for the sake of the mission.

She wondered what kind of eyes could match Xu Shiyue's beauty.

And if her eyes hadn't been damaged, what beautiful eyes they would have been.

This was the first time Lu Shizhen felt that the descriptions in novels couldn't compare to even a fraction of what she was seeing now.

"well."

Perhaps it was a sigh of regret, or perhaps it was a sense of loss, but Lu Shizhen let out a sigh.

Fearing that her behavior would affect the examination, she even sighed softly, but Xu Shiyue, who was not far away, still slightly raised her eyelashes.

This was the second sigh she had heard from Lu Shizhen that day.

The first time was just now on the shuttle bus.

Lu Shizhen's blurry figure blended into the rearview mirror reflecting the sunlight, making her impossible to see clearly, but Xu Shiyue could picture her smiling face.

This person always seems to be smiling, even when she's in a bad mood, the smile is still on her face.

What could possibly make her sigh twice in a row?

He fired his maid and hired an ophthalmologist to examine him.

Did she realize that she no longer trusted him enough, so she started to plan again how to win his favor?

A hint of coldness and disdain flashed in Xu Shiyue's eyes, and her hands, which were resting on her knees, clenched slightly.

—If she had known that the performance at the school anniversary gala would bring her this endless torment, she would never have gone on stage despite her illness.

Sunlight filters through the new leaves, and every color is a testament to the vitality of spring.

The cello's deep and magnetic sound brought back Xu Shiyue's fond memories of the past, but Chen Cheng's voice pulled her back to reality.

It pulled us back to the dark and blurry present.

Shen Cheng: "Miss Xu, are you completely blind now?"

Xu Shiyue looked at the hand waving back and forth in this blurry world in front of her and gently shook her head: "I can't see it."

“Okay.” Shen Cheng nodded and carefully recorded the situation in her notebook, completely unaware of the fleeting glint of unease in Xu Shiyue’s eyes.

Xu Shiyue was the most cooperative patient Shen Cheng had ever encountered. She was well-behaved and obedient, and answered questions carefully and thoroughly.

The entire examination went very smoothly, but because some data wouldn't be available until the afternoon, the consultation ended in the evening.

"...Ms. Xu's main problem right now is her weak constitution, so the medication won't be absorbed very well. Surgery also carries certain risks. Xiao Qin and I both recommend starting with medication while simultaneously conditioning Ms. Xu's body. A two-pronged approach will be more effective."

Lu Shizhen listened to Shen Cheng's analysis of Xu Shiyue's condition and treatment plan, and nodded in approval.

Although she didn't understand much about academic matters, she had the most contact with doctors in her original world, and the professionalism that Qin Wen, her senior, exuded in her speech and demeanor made her quite trusting.

Knowing the hardships of the medical profession, Lu Shizhen, after finalizing Xu Shiyue's treatment plan with Shen Cheng, instructed Aunt Sun to arrange a car to take Shen Cheng and Qin Wen home.

The car headlights swept across the villa's windows, and the once bustling villa suddenly fell silent.

Having learned her lesson from the Rose Field incident, Lu Shizhen didn't dare to rashly try to win over Xu Shiyue, who was resting and receiving an IV drip in her room. After thinking for a moment, she returned to her own room.

The door was gently closed from the inside, and the moment the room lights came on, Lu Shizhen instantly shed the original owner's persona.

She stretched her aching shoulders, then turned to Xiaoqiu with a mixture of nervousness and excitement, asking, "Did you get any points deducted?"

"No, no!" The little ball, which had been staring at the points system, shook its head excitedly and said, "Host, we only lost two points today!"

Upon hearing this, Lu Shizhen's expression fell sharply, and she glanced at the little ball with displeasure.

The little ball suddenly felt a little wronged and muttered softly behind Lu Shizhen, "Compared to the original owner's data, this is already a big improvement."

"Is that so?" Lu Shizhen gave a wry smile.

Whether it's progress or stagnation.

Lu Shizhen felt more tired today than if she had read eight hundred bad books. She had no energy to play word games with Xiaoqiu anymore, so she turned around and threw herself onto the bed.

Anyway, Shen Cheng has already formulated a treatment plan for Xu Shiyue. Once her eyes are healed and she realizes that he has no ill intentions towards her, there's no worry about winning back her favor.

It's even possible that Xu Shiyue will feel guilty for misunderstanding him in the past, and then frantically try to make amends and apologize to him, causing his points to increase exponentially.

A crescent moon hung brightly by the window, illuminating the warm and beautiful atmosphere of the room.

Just as Lu Shizhen was lying on the soft bed, raising the corners of her lips to imagine the future, the system notification sounded at an extremely inopportune moment.

[The system detected that Xu Shiyue's health index has stopped recovering again; the possibility of a system bug has been ruled out.]

[Host, Xu Shiyue seems to be consistently refusing treatment.]
