The weather was fine the next day; the spring breeze rippled through the rose vines, creating waves of green.
The rose petals, laden with morning dew, drooped under their weight, and a single drop landed on the nose of a dog that had come sniffing them.
Its servant then helped it cut off the rose it had chosen and put it in the wicker basket it was carrying.
The bright red roses were piled up and stacked, one bunch after another filling the baskets. Yuanzi returned to the villa, laden with fruit, wagging her tail.
This time, however, it didn't cling to Lu Shizhen who was preparing breakfast in the restaurant as it had in the past. Instead, it fawned over Xu Shiyue, who was just coming downstairs, and couldn't be stopped.
"Why did you pick so many roses?" Xu Shiyue looked at Yuanzi, who was standing in front of her with a basket in her mouth, and picked up a rose at random.
"I don't know, but Yuanzi seems to really like these roses today. She dragged me to the flower garden first thing this morning. At first, I didn't know what she meant, but then I saw her pawing at the flower stems like a servant in a flower shop, and I realized she wanted these flowers." The maid who was taking care of Yuanzi said with a smile, rubbing Yuanzi's head. "She's quite a smart little dog."
"Yes." Xu Shiyue glanced down at Yuanzi, a slight smile curving her eyes. "Are you going to give it to Qiuqiu?"
"Woof!" Yuanzi still had the basket in its mouth, its voice muffled but somehow sounding a little anxious.
The tail that was wagging so easily started wagging even faster. It seemed to be trying to signal something to Xu Shiyue, but it was too anxious to know how to express it.
Xu Shiyue lowered her eyes slightly, and the smile in her eyes changed slightly.
Sunlight streamed down the stairs, filling every corner of the villa's first floor. Not far away, Lu Shizhen and Aunt Sun were setting up breakfast in the dining room, looking very harmonious.
Xu Shiyue held the roses in one hand and gently patted Yuanzi's head with the other, saying, "Good child, I'll accept this bouquet of roses. Give the rest to Qiuqiu; she'll like it."
"Woof." Yuanzi whimpered, her dark eyes filled with confusion as she struggled to understand the complex words.
As Xu Shiyue's guide dog, it still unconditionally trusts and obeys Xu Shiyue's words.
So the person and the dog went downstairs side by side, one carrying a flower basket and heading towards the pet room, and the other heading towards the dining room.
"I thought you wouldn't wake up until very late today after you finished dealing with things," Lu Shizhen said as she thoughtfully set out breakfast for Xu Shiyue.
"I'm used to it," Xu Shiyue replied calmly. "Thank you."
Just as she was about to go to sleep last night, Xu Shiyue received a call saying that a project had run into a problem and she needed to handle it remotely.
By the time she finished dealing with it, it was already past midnight. Thinking that Lu Shizhen was already fast asleep, she didn't disturb her and went back to her own room.
"Why are we thanking each other?" Lu Shizhen was quite dissatisfied with Xu Shiyue's polite behavior. She pouted and said, "Actually, you can slack off a little."
"Maybe another time," Xu Shiyue said, putting the roses in her hand aside.
After breakfast was prepared, Aunt Sun, with her keen eye, left.
Only the two of them remained in the restaurant, but this solitude lasted only a few seconds before a connection request came from the main system.
The white sphere of light gradually expanded under the sunlight, eventually taking up the entire restaurant bar counter.
Although she was just a seemingly emotionless sphere, her voice contained human emotions: "I'm very sorry, Ms. Xu, I was delayed for a while last night. I just finished the algorithm. Please put your watch on the table."
Upon hearing this, Xu Shiyue calmly took off her watch and asked the main system, "What happened?"
The white tentacles slowly emerged and enveloped the watch on the table.
As the main system worked, it said, "The main god has already noticed my betrayal. After I met with you yesterday and returned home, I found that she had proactively disconnected from me, and the deity has also disappeared."
"She erased her traces and signals from the system, as if she had exiled herself."
Xu Shiyue frowned slightly as she listened: "What will your system judge her behavior as?"
“Missing,” the main system said. “If the main god is missing for too long, the main system has the right to determine that she is no longer able to preside over the world and thus take her place.”
"If that's the case, can your supreme deity still live?" Xu Shiyue asked.
“Theoretically, it’s not possible,” the main system said. “According to the rule of ebb and flow, the main god will die in the wilderness, and the gods who protect her will also disappear.”
Upon hearing this answer, Xu Shiyue smiled wryly: "Do you really think she'd be that stupid?"
The Supreme God knew far more than the Main System; she couldn't possibly be unaware of this. The Main System, of course, wouldn't believe her Supreme God was so foolish: "I just don't understand. Given the Supreme God's personality and abilities, after discovering my betrayal, shouldn't she have destroyed me, or even this world, instead of disrupting more than half the worlds and then disappearing..."
"It sounds like a child throwing a tantrum."
Before the main system could elaborate on its doubts, Lu Shizhen suddenly interrupted.
She rested her chin on her hand, thoughtfully asking Yiren Yitong, "Do you think it's possible that the main god simply doesn't want to clash with us anymore and wants the main system to return to her side?"
The main system asked, puzzled, "What do you mean by that, host?"
“I think you understand better than I do. You’ve been together for over 30 million years, a stubborn child like her must care about you.” Lu Shizhen rubbed her hands together, her tone overly relaxed. “Kids are all like that, aren’t they? They deliberately make a fuss to attract the adults’ attention. As long as the adults are willing to focus their attention on them again, they’ll behave again, won’t they?”
"Although she has lived for over 30 million years, I feel like she's just a child who hasn't been properly taught..."
At this point, Lu Shizhen paused for a moment.
She glanced up at Xu Shiyue and the main system, her fork casually skewering the small cake in front of her, "...Don't you think we should give her a chance?"
As soon as he finished speaking, the restaurant, bathed in sunlight, fell silent.
The silence was eerily quiet.
The roses on the table were picked up, their heavy petals dangling from the person's fingertips.
Xu Shiyue did not comment on this statement. The main system paused for a moment and asked, "Do you mean you want to give the main god another chance?"
"It's up to you guys. I was just saying." Lu Shizhen also felt that her imagination had gone a bit too far. She spread her hands, trying to ease the awkward atmosphere she had created with a laugh. "The main thing is that I think as long as you, the main system, teach her diligently, and with me and Xu Shiyue, the two bugs who can really destroy her if she doesn't listen, she will be restrained and definitely won't act as recklessly as before."
Before she could finish speaking, Lu Shizhen turned her gaze to the main system and asked, as if casting a fishing hook, "Right?"
"indeed."
How could we say we had no compassion? Emotions always guide us to think of important people and things in a positive direction.
The main system took the bait, and the transparent white body began to run its algorithm program according to Lu Shizhen's assumption: "Just as many things have constraints in their operation, so do people. As the saying goes, 'Wood becomes straight when bound by a rope'..."
The sunlight streamed down, and the roses slowly swayed in its rays.
Her soft fingertips brushed against the sharp thorns, pressing down a patch of bloodless white. Xu Shiyue remained silent, sitting quietly to the side with her eyes half-closed, listening intently.
The brief discussion yielded no results. The system was not yet fully cleaned up internally. After another notification sounded, the main system bid farewell to the two and went back to continue cleaning up the mess that the main god had deliberately left for her before disappearing.
Summer is coming, and the sunlight is becoming warmer and brighter every day.
After breakfast, Xu Shiyue went for a walk in the courtyard at Lu Shizhen's invitation.
A gentle breeze caressed her cheek, softly enveloping her, before Lu Shizhen's voice rang out: "October, what are you thinking about? You've been so quiet since earlier."
"What else could it be? It's just a matter for the Supreme God." Xu Shiyue said calmly, stopping by the pool.
"Are you worried that the Supreme God might suddenly appear in our world and do something to us?" Lu Shizhen asked.
The wind stirred the clear surface of the pool, ruffling the reflections of people on it.
The pool reflected the shimmering light, and Xu Shiyue gazed down at it, not answering Lu Shizhen's question, but instead throwing the question back at her: "And you?"
"I don't think so, right?" Lu Shizhen said. "She's already exiled herself, deliberately leaving a mess for the main system. Isn't she just throwing a childish tantrum and waiting for the main system to coax her?"
"In that case, there's no point in her attacking us. It would only make her seem like she's gone too far, and then she'd lose the main system, wouldn't she?"
"Is that so?" Xu Shiyue asked in a low voice, her fingers seemingly casually touching the watch on her wrist, and she murmured thoughtfully, repeating, "It's meaningless..."
Seeing Xu Shiyue lost in thought, Lu Shizhen leaned closer to her with her hands behind her back and said, "Besides, look how good it is now. World peace, no need to use force, and no one will die. Everyone's happy."
“Yes, everyone’s happy.” As if moved by Lu Shizhen’s words, Xu Shiyue softly echoed Lu Shizhen.
A hint of pleasure flickered in Lu Shizhen's eyes, and Xu Shiyue also looked up at her with eyes full of smiles.
Slender fingers circled her wrist, gently tapping the skin on the inside of her wrist a few times.
Lu Shizhen felt Xu Shiyue's fingers and said with a smile, "Why did you suddenly think of using Braille?"
As she spoke, she took Xu Shiyue's hand in her own and intertwined their fingers, saying, "I love you too."
As soon as she finished speaking, Lu Shizhen saw that Xu Shiyue's smile had deepened in her eyes.
The bright sunlight couldn't illuminate the smile in Xu Shiyue's eyes clearly.
Suddenly, the sun began to rise in Lu Shizhen's line of sight.
Caught completely off guard, she was suddenly pulled back by a force that gripped her tightly.
The spring breeze suddenly turned cold, and the unexpected change made people's hearts almost stop beating.
Lu Shizhen's dark pupils dilated, filled with Xu Shiyue's seemingly gentle and harmless smile.
And then she deliberately lowered her voice, whispering in her ear, "Stop pretending, you're not her."
