Chapter 51

Chapter 51

Tong Shu felt a surge of resentment and became increasingly silent at home. She returned to the island, cleaned out a storage room in the villa, spent a large sum of Senbi to exchange for fighting equipment, and made a plan for herself to train on the island whenever she had free time.

The convenience store and workshops were shut down, but the Tong family members were still busy. The land that Qin Jiaqiang had no time to manage was taken over by Wang Jianye, and the others continuously harvested fruit from the island. They had worked hard for most of their lives to build up their business, but before they could enjoy it for a few years, they encountered a natural disaster. In their hearts, they still hoped that once things calmed down, they could continue to complete the tasks on the island. After all, there was still hope of returning to a normal life, and they were unwilling to give up.

Tong Shu didn't say much, and went to the supply ship twice a day, morning and evening. Shu Hua was quite worried about her and asked her several times, but Tong Shu always evaded the question, so she had no choice but to give up.

On the supply ship, Tong Shu threw a punch following Wen Shaocheng's instructions, but it was blocked by an arm. The knuckles struck the hard arm with a crisp sound.

Tong Shu couldn't help but gasp, then pulled back her fist and shook it.

"You're not suited for head-on confrontations; you should learn some sneak attack techniques instead," Wen Shaocheng said.

Tong Shu felt somewhat frustrated, but Wen Shaocheng was right, and she couldn't refute him, so she could only nod.

"Skill is one thing, but strength training is also essential. You have a weak foundation, so you need to train even harder," Wen Shaocheng said, pinching the loose flesh on Tong Shu's arm and frowning.

Tong Shuyi agreed to everything. Every day after returning from Wen Shaocheng's place, she would spend all her time in the training room hitting the sandbag until her arms ached. The reason she was weak in her punches was largely due to overtraining the day before.

"Here, take this." Wen Shaocheng tossed her a pen. "Use it as a dagger. Attack me using any method you can think of first."

Tong Shu clenched the pen in her palm, rubbing the tip as she mentally planned her attack route. She crouched down, bent low, and with a nimble twist of her waist, raised the pen to face Wen Shaocheng's side. Just as she was about to thrust the pen forward, Wen Shaocheng raised his right arm and delivered a downward elbow strike, slamming it hard into Tong Shu's back. Tong Shu immediately fell to the ground, her chin hitting the deck, a sharp pain shooting straight to her nose.

"Reckless," Wen Shaocheng commented. "A dagger is a concealed weapon. If you attack from the front, you will either be subdued or killed."

"You must think carefully before you take action. Acting based on a rough plan is irresponsible to yourself."

Tong Shu listened attentively with her eyes lowered. She knew that she was prone to acting impulsively and doing whatever came to mind. Just now, she thought a surprise attack was feasible, so she went ahead and tried it. As a result, she was beaten to the ground by Wen Shaocheng. In the past, this could be seen as having the will to act, but now it could only be regarded as recklessness.

“A sneak attack requires two things: agility and surprise.” Wen Shaocheng reached out and pulled Tong Shu up from the ground. “You thought you had succeeded in catching her off guard, but you should also know that your every move was under my observation. From the moment you picked up the pen, I began to guard against you, so…”

Suddenly, Wen Shaocheng exerted force on his wrist, flipping Tong Shu over. Her arm was struck, and the pen she wasn't holding fell into Wen Shaocheng's hand. By the time she reacted, she was completely restrained. Tong Shu's back was pressed against the man's firm chest, and she could even feel his warm breath on the top of her head. However, both of her hands were held, and the pen tip was pointing at the side of her neck.

"A surprise attack is most likely to succeed when the enemy is off guard."

A slight vibration came from behind as Wen Shaocheng spoke. Tong Shu gritted her teeth and shifted uncomfortably. Wen Shaocheng quickly released his grip on her and took a few steps back in a rather gentlemanly manner.

"...I think I understand a little bit," Tong Shu said, blushing and suppressing her inappropriate embarrassment.

Wen Shaocheng nodded and pointed to the pen in her hand: "You can learn fighting skills from Liu Wanqi and the others. I'll give you a month. During this month, you need to find a way to assassinate me. Once you succeed, I'll teach you other things."

Tong Shu was taken aback for a moment upon hearing this, but then her fighting spirit ignited, and she loudly replied, "Major, you are very strong, but I also believe I will succeed."

Seeing the long-lost light return to her eyes, Wen Shaocheng felt a surge of joy. He smiled and nodded, "Okay, I'll wait."

It was clear that she wouldn't succeed in ambushing him again today, so Tong Shu decided to go home and train first. She was about to leave with a proud and confident air when Wen Shaocheng called her back.

Tong Shu looked at him in confusion. Wen Shaocheng pursed his lips and said, "I am in charge of the granaries in the north of the city. You can't complete the task through the shops and workshops right now. Otherwise, trading supplies directly with me should be faster than trying to find a way on your own."

In fact, Tong Shu had lost her initial enthusiasm for the mission, but since Wen Shaocheng had brought it up, she felt it was a good idea.

"Doesn't anyone take stock of your grain warehouse? What if someone discovers there's an excess of supplies?" Tong Shu asked.

“I’ll take care of that. Liu Wanqi is in charge of taking inventory of the supplies, and I’ll let him know,” Wen Shaocheng said.

Since he said so, Tong Shu didn't ask any more questions: "Okay, then just call me to the granary whenever you need supplies. Oh, by the way, can I come over?"

Wen Shaocheng smiled and said, "I can bring it with me."

Tong Shu trusted Wen Shaocheng's abilities. With Wen Shaocheng's cooperation, she no longer needed to worry about concealing the source of the supplies. As long as her family could focus on farming and harvesting fruit, the mission could continue, and Tong Shu felt much more at ease. She had long wanted to cooperate with the authorities, but had rejected the idea many times. In the end, she achieved her goal by chance, but she was no longer as excited as before.

When Tong Shu returned home, there was no one on the first floor, only footsteps on the second floor, so it was probably just her second aunt's family there. She went straight into the small island, where everyone except Wang Jie was.

Tong Shu found Tong Songming and asked him to gather up the flour that had been recently ground and the fruit that had been picked.

"Is the convenience store opening again?" Tong Songming asked.

Tong Shu shook her head: "I just want to organize and categorize the supplies so they'll be easier to find when I need them." She didn't plan to tell a third person about her deal with Wen Shaocheng. It was better not to let others know that Wen Shaocheng had a game system. He told her and trusted her, so she couldn't put him in danger.

Tong Songming didn't ask any more questions. His daughter had been in a bad mood lately and had no interest in doing anything. He was already relieved that she could come out and move around now.

Tong Shu went to Nini's cabin to check on the crystal ball. After confirming that there were no changes, she returned to the villa and started exercising according to the schedule.

She used to be obsessed with fitness and downloaded a lot of videos from famous coaches, but she gave up because the intensity was too high. Now that she has picked it up again, Tong Shu doesn't feel it's hard anymore. After having a goal, she forces herself to take action, and she hits a sandbag with a "bang bang".

Tong Shu trained with Liu Wanqi and his team during the day and night, ate muscle-building and fat-loss meals, and occasionally received guidance from Liu Wanqi and other special forces members. She could feel her body getting stronger day by day.

"This is the ship where you store your supplies? It's huge." Wen Shaocheng opened the hatch, revealing a dense array of shelves behind it, and Tong Shu exclaimed in amazement. She had just finished jogging with Liu Wanqi and was about to go home when Wen Shaocheng stopped her after only a few steps. He didn't take anyone else with him and they drove around for a while before finally reaching the vicinity of the original bay. Tong Shu knew that he had called her here to trade supplies.

“This is just one of the ships. The supplies on this ship are exclusively for the military. Only Liu Wanqi and I are allowed inside,” Wen Shaocheng explained. He led Tong Shu to the last row of shelves, which had been emptied. “Just leave them here. How are you going to get the supplies out?”

Tong Shu looked at the entire row of shelves, each with four layers, and silently glanced at Wen Shaocheng.

Wen Shaocheng asked, puzzled, "What's wrong?"

Tong Shu didn't say anything, took off her backpack, and began laboriously scooping out bags of flour from it.

Wen Shaocheng understood, and a rare look of embarrassment appeared on his face: "I thought you could spill everything out at once."

"...Major, stop watching weird TV shows."

"...I don't..."

"I'll get the supplies; you can put these on the shelves," Tong Shu interrupted.

Wen Shaocheng knew he was in the wrong, so without saying a word he picked up the flour from the ground and piled it on the shelf.

"Otherwise, I'll help you carry them. You can go back first, and I'll organize them here," Wen Shaocheng said, seeing her struggling with the bags.

“No, this bag is only for me and the people who work on my island. You can’t use it…” At this point, Tong Shu suddenly remembered something, and she exclaimed, asking Wen Shaocheng, “Can you fly a plane? Or a boat!”

Wen Shaocheng didn't know what was wrong with her all of a sudden, and simply answered honestly, "I only know how to fly a plane."

Tong Shu looked at Wen Shaocheng with reverence, then rummaged through her bag, took out a name tag, and asked Wen Shaocheng to write his name on it.

Looking at the word "Captain" on his name tag, Wen Shaocheng guessed what was going on and, following Tong Shu's suggestion, wrote his own name in the name column.

But no matter how he wrote, the ink wouldn't land on the sign. He looked at Tong Shu in confusion: "I can't write on it, what's wrong? Is it a problem with the pen?"

At this moment, Tong Shu had already received a system notification.

[Already linked to another system, unable to become an employee.]

Tong Shu was dejected. She took back the employee badge and pen from his hand. "There's nothing I can do. You already have another game system on you, so you can't work for me anymore."

Wen Shaocheng didn't feel it was a pity. He smiled and said, "It's okay. Fortunately, my game system is of some use to you. It's alright if I don't go to your place to fly the plane."

Tong Shu thought about it and realized he made sense. Since they didn't need the resources on the resource island now, having one more or one less pilot wouldn't make much difference. She stopped thinking about it and squatted down to carefully scoop out the flour again.

Wen Shaocheng stood next to Tong Shu, stared at her and thought for a while, then held something in his hand.

"Tong Shu," Wen Shaocheng called to her.

Tong Shu looked up at him, bewildered.

"I don't have much to trade with you. This is something I made myself. Let's exchange it for this batch of flour."

Wen Shaocheng spread his fingers, and a sharp dagger gleaming with a soft green light lay quietly in his palm.
