Hughes was speechless at Yang Cheng's actions.
As I responded, I was inexplicably compelled to open the door.
Yang Cheng responded, but the thing inside was so frightened that it didn't dare to make a sound. Isn't this too much of a bully who picks on the weak and fears the strong?
Hughes couldn't help but ask, "Mr. Yang, why didn't you follow the rules and respond to the sounds coming from this ward?"
Yang Cheng said calmly, "Let me teach you another principle: when your power reaches a certain level, the rules are just like farts to you!"
I was speechless again when I was in Houston.
However, being around a powerful figure like Yang Cheng seemed to have alleviated Hughes's fear.
Suddenly, he remembered something and leaned closer to Yang Cheng, saying, "Mr. Yang, when I was looking up information about Tzu Chi Private Hospital, I discovered something: this hospital has been operating at a loss for many years."
Public hospitals are reasonably priced, but patients often have long waiting times and don't receive very good care.
Private hospitals are expensive and offer good service, but you'll be kicked out immediately if you run out of money.
However, Tzu Chi Private Hospital is different. Although it is a private hospital, it is inexpensive and has excellent service.
Even if you run out of money, the hospital won't kick you out; they will still provide you with treatment.
Scrap Iron Street used to be a factory area, where some poor people could only afford to eat and drink. When they got sick, they couldn't even afford to pay a single penny. But even so, Tzu Chi Private Hospital would still provide treatment.
So the information shows that this hospital has a very good reputation. People from other districts even come here because of its reputation. Some of them are even rich, but they just want to take advantage of the hospital.
However, although the hospital has a very good reputation, I feel like there's something wrong with it.
As Yang Cheng walked, he said, "It's good that there's a problem. I believe in good people who save lives, but would someone who can build such a large hospital be an idiot?"
Someone clearly has money but still tries to scam people. The hospital couldn't possibly be unaware of such a huge loophole, yet they still do it. It would be strange if there weren't any problems.
As we passed by these wards, we could still hear voices coming from inside from time to time, all of them asking Yang Cheng and the others to let them out.
However, usually, once Yang Cheng glanced over, the place would fall silent.
I turned around and went to the third floor, where the triage room is located. People with different conditions need to be diagnosed on the third floor.
Hughes mustered his courage and entered the triage room, which was still a mess, with some medical records still lying around.
However, the more Hughes looked at it, the more he felt something was wrong. He frowned and said, "Mr. Yang, there's something wrong with this medical information."
All the patients listed in the medical records need surgery; some need amputation, and some need to have a part of their body removed.
Some even require craniotomy or heart removal! This is simply unbelievable!
This isn't surgery, it's murder!
The Assyrian Kingdom was already the most powerful kingdom in the world, and its medical level was relatively good, at least unlike in the Middle Ages when bloodletting was the only treatment available.
However, the medical level here is far from reaching the level of modern medicine. Amputation is extremely dangerous and can be fatal, let alone things like opening the brain and removing the heart, which is practically murder.
Yang Cheng asked, "If this hospital keeps doing this, the mortality rate must be extremely high. Isn't anyone going to do anything about it?"
Hughes shook his head and said, "Except for those hospitals that cater specifically to the wealthy and aristocratic, most hospitals have a high mortality rate."
These family members all know that going to the hospital means they can survive, while not going to the hospital means even a common cold can be fatal.
Not to mention that Tzu Chi private hospitals are so inexpensive, no one would say anything.
Furthermore, I discovered that Tzu Chi Private Hospital is actually a hospital controlled by the Ironworks Steel Factory on Scrap Iron Street, with the same owner on both sides.
At its peak, the steel mill provided more than 10,000 jobs to the West District, and as many as 30,000 to 40,000 people in the entire Scrap Iron Street relied on the steel mill for their livelihood.
Of course, no one would investigate a company that can bring in huge tax revenue for the government and solve so many employment problems.
Furthermore, the Western District Police Department had been operating haphazardly until Chief Grace took office, after which things became much more organized.
Yang Cheng nodded, having some guesses.
There was nothing unusual on the third floor, but on the fourth floor, there were rows of wards, but the doors were all open.
Hughes, gun in hand, nervously followed Yang Cheng when suddenly he heard footsteps behind him.
"Who's there! Don't move!"
Hughes turned around abruptly, disregarding all rules, and pointed his gun directly behind him.
But when he saw what was behind him, Houston felt a chill run down his spine.
Behind them was a monster wearing a hospital gown!
The reason it was called a monster was because, in addition to its two legs, it had two hands growing from its lower body. It had both hands and feet on the ground at the same time, but no arms or head. However, it had a strange human face on its chest.
"shot!"
Yang Cheng's voice suddenly came from behind.
Without a second thought, Hughes pulled the trigger, and a bullet pierced the monster, leaving a burning mark on its chest.
However, it was clear that the shot did not cause enough damage to the monster; instead, it enraged it.
The monster's demonic face on its chest suddenly roared and charged towards Hughes.
Before Hughes could fire again, Yang Cheng's Soul-Severing Spear appeared in his hand, piercing the monster with a single shot.
With a shake of the gun, the monster exploded into a pile of minced meat.
Hughes looked at Yang Cheng with a mixture of awe and excitement.
