Since arriving in this world, Yang Cheng has not actually witnessed a war between superhumans.
Of course, the time he stormed through the dungeon doesn't count; his strength was so overwhelming that it hardly even counted as a battle.
In fact, the scale of battles among the extraordinary beings in this world is rather inadequate. Everyone's powers are too complex and varied, unlike martial arts or various cultivation techniques that allow for coordinated attacks.
Thousands of people attacked a palace, creating chaos. Some monsters were even tearing each other apart and attacking their own comrades.
Of course, Wood's forces were weaker and they could no longer hold out.
Just as Wood was in utter despair and even contemplated suicide to preserve his dignity as the King of the West End, Yang Cheng fell directly from mid-air.
Boundless blood-red sword energy surrounded Yang Cheng, annihilating the power of those extraordinary individuals.
"Hold on a minute, I need to talk to Wood about something."
Yang Cheng left those words behind and went straight into Wood's palace.
Some people present knew Yang Cheng, while others did not. Just as he was about to yell at him, he was stopped by others who questioned him about his own sanity.
Those are fierce men who dare to go against the gods; killing them would be as easy as killing an ant.
Inside the palace, Wood was somewhat lost in thought when he saw Yang Cheng walk in.
He never expected that Yang Cheng would save him when he was at his most desperate.
"Thank you..."
Before Wood could finish speaking, Yang Cheng interrupted him.
"No need to thank me yet. I didn't come here specifically to save you. I just wanted to ask you something."
"Did you assign Noynes the task of collecting blood?"
Wood was slightly taken aback, but still answered honestly, "Yes, I have a good relationship with some nobles in St. Brand, so I often get some missions."
The rewards for this mission are quite substantial; normally I would have kept them for myself, but I gave them to Noynes because I needed the resources.
"Who gave the order? Do you know why they want to collect blood?"
Wood hesitated only slightly before saying directly, "It is the Celtic Earl of the Kingdom."
However, I don't know what he wants this blood for. Maybe it's for black magic experiments or for something like evil priesthood.
But his requirements were too strange. The blood had to be from a healthy adult and it had to be clean and pure. Even rituals for worshipping evil gods or black magic were not so particular.
Besides these, he also took a lot of alchemical materials, many of which were items that were openly prohibited from being traded in St. Brand.
By the way, when you fought the cherubim before, that strike you used severed one of the cherubim's feathers, and the Celtic Earl took it too.”
Yang Cheng was slightly taken aback, not expecting that he had gotten involved with that Celtic count again.
Master Morton sighed from the side, "These matters involve nobles, so they're not easy to handle. Let's go back and let Grace make a decision."
Just as Yang Cheng was about to leave, Wood suddenly said from behind, "Lord Yang, if you're going to deal with the Celtic Earl, you'd better be careful of the royal family."
Yang Cheng turned around and looked at Wood.
Wood said in a deep voice, "Although the royal family does not openly worship superhumans, they have cooperative relationships with the Alchemist Association and the Witcher Association, and they have even fallen out with the Holy See."
However, the power of the royal family should not be underestimated; otherwise, we wouldn't be fighting like dogs in a place like the dungeon.
It is said that the royal family of the Assyrian Kingdom possessed power comparable to that of gods, a level of power possessed by only two people on the entire continent.
Another option is through the Church of Light, where they can summon angels under the command of the God of Light.
"Thanks for reminding me."
Wood was simply returning the favor.
Without Yang Cheng's appearance, he would definitely be dead today.
With Yang Cheng's appearance, other forces are hesitant to act, unsure of his relationship with them. Some will likely hesitate to continue their attack, giving them a chance to catch their breath.
That's why Wood reminded Yang Cheng that although he had the power to fight gods head-on, he still needed to be careful of the royal family and the Church of Light.
Before leaving, Yang Cheng paused and said, "The power that the cherubim, the god of wisdom, gave you is not your own power."
Whether you are human or divine, the power that belongs to you is eternal.
In this world, it can be said that more than half of the extraordinary beings use external forces, not their own.
Perhaps because they obtain power too easily, they never know how to cherish it.
Whether it's divine arts obtained through sacrificing to evil gods or offering sacrifices to deities, they can be mastered in an instant; the rest of the time is simply spent becoming more familiar with them.
But they never thought of cultivating their own power.
Wood reminded Yang Cheng of something, and Yang Cheng also reminded Wood of something.
Of course, even if he understands it now, it might be too late.
Back in the West End, Yang Cheng and Morton recounted the whole story to Grace.
Yang Cheng said calmly, "Director Grace, there are actually only two paths we can take in this case now."
One option is to close the case here. I've already warned Noynes and Wood that no one in the dungeon should dare to take on this mission again, so theoretically, the case is closed.
Another important task is to get to the bottom of what the Celtic Earl was doing and bring him to justice.
But bringing an Imperial Earl to justice seems like a high price to pay, with serious consequences. Even Chief Grace, you don't seem to hold a title, do you?
Despite being a police chief, Grace's status is nowhere near that of the Earl of Celt.
