Chapter Sixty-Three: The Way of the World

Yang Sheng's father, though taciturn, was a very strong-willed person.

He came from the countryside, worked hard in the city, and then returned to his hometown with the money to farm and build greenhouses. He signed contracts with many fruit and vegetable supermarkets in the city and was among the highest earners in the village. Otherwise, he wouldn't have been able to support Yang Sheng through college.

If it weren't for that accident five years ago, this would have been a farming novel.

In comparison, Yang Sheng's second uncle was rather ordinary.

They usually make a living by farming, and go to the city to work during the off-season.

Yang Sheng walked into his second uncle's house and knocked on the door. A woman in her forties with a somewhat mean appearance opened the door. She was surprised to see Yang Sheng and was speechless for a moment.

"Second Aunt".

Yang Sheng called out.

A dark-skinned, slightly hunched man nearing fifty years old came out and exclaimed with delight, "Xiao Sheng, why are you back? Why didn't you tell your second uncle to come pick you up?"

Yang Sheng smiled and said, "I came back on a whim, so I didn't want to bother you, Second Uncle."

"Come in quickly, I'll have your second aunt make you something nice to eat tonight."

Yang Sheng's second aunt called out from behind, but her expression was slightly unnatural.

Yang Sheng's second uncle pulled him into the house, where a three-year-old girl was looking at him with curiosity.

"Your second aunt and I have never had children. We've seen many doctors over the years and had long given up. But we never expected that at this age, we would actually get pregnant."

"My darling, call me brother."

The second uncle stroked the girl's head with a doting expression, but the girl hid at the second uncle's feet, cautiously observing the stranger in front of her.

"Xiao Sheng, how have you been all these years?" Uncle asked.

Yang Sheng nodded: "It's not bad. The knot in my heart has been untied. I'm going to offer incense and sweep the graves for my parents when I come back this time."

After he finished speaking, the scene fell into a moment of silence. The second uncle wanted to say something, but his second aunt glared at him several times.

Finally, Uncle Er gritted his teeth and said, "Xiao Sheng, you should have seen that house when you came here, right?"

You haven't come back all these years and I can't get in touch with you. Since someone wanted to buy that house, I took it upon myself to sell it to him.

At that time, I had just given birth to my baby and needed money, which is why I started thinking about that house.

The new house is already built, and we can't get the land back. I'll withdraw the 50,000 yuan from the land sale and give it to you from the credit union.

Second Aunt glared at Second Uncle fiercely, then stood up to leave.

Yang Sheng gently shook his head and said, "Second Uncle, you can keep this money. It will also be a trouble for you to visit my parents' graves every year."

After saying that, Yang Sheng took out 10,000 yuan from his backpack and put it on the table.

Uncle was stunned for a moment: "What are you doing?"

“I missed the birth of my daughter, and I didn’t bring any gifts when I came back this time. I’ll buy something for the child.”

As he spoke, Yang Sheng stood up and said, "Second Uncle, I have to leave after we sweep Mom and Dad's graves. Time is of the essence, so I won't stay here for dinner."

Seeing that Yang Sheng was about to leave, the second uncle wanted to stand up and stop him, but was held down by the second aunt.

When I looked up again, Yang Sheng had already left the courtyard.

My second aunt held the ten thousand yuan, her eyes shining: "Hey, what do you think Yang Sheng has been doing all these years? He just throws away ten thousand yuan like that."

I heard the person who hit and killed his parents was a wealthy man. Did they pay a lot of compensation?

"Is that even human language you're speaking?!"

Uncle suddenly stood up, glared at Aunt, raised his hand to slap her but ultimately didn't.

My second aunt, however, took the initiative to lean in and fiercely cursed, "Yang Shulin, you heartless bastard, you want to hit me?"

I've taken care of you, given birth to your children, and worried so much for your Yang family. And now you want to hit me? Go ahead and kill me if you dare!

"Why!"

My second uncle sighed deeply, covered his face, and sat down, his body becoming even more hunched over.

Yang Sheng, who had just stepped outside, could hear the conversation coming from inside the house.

Even with his current mental strength, he can perceive the entire scene inside the room without missing a single detail.

For Yang Sheng, who has experienced revenge and death, and reincarnation twice, such trivial matters and messy affairs no longer seem to affect his state of mind.

I went to the cemetery outside the village to offer incense to my parents. The cemetery was very clean, and you could tell that it was regularly cleaned.

After the incense and candles went out, Yang Sheng prepared to leave, wanting to find a quiet place to rest for two months before welcoming the next cycle of reincarnation.

However, just as he was waiting for a car at the village entrance, a tall young man rode by on a motorcycle and suddenly braked sharply in front of Yang Sheng.

"Shengzi? It's been years since I've seen you. When did you get back? Come on, let's go for a drink!"

Mingze is back too, let's have a drink together!

Yang Sheng smiled and said, "Da Gang, how dare you still ride a motorcycle? When you were a kid, you broke two front teeth riding a motorcycle. Who said they would never ride again?"

The person in front of him was Da Gang, Yang Sheng's childhood friend. The two had been friends since elementary school, until Yang Sheng went to high school in another city, after which they saw each other less often.

Da Gang patted the back seat with a proud look on his face: "My skills are extraordinary now, you know the Second Ring Road Thirteen Lang? I'll take you to try out some cornering sometime."

Yang Sheng got into the back seat, and Da Gang called Mingze, who was also one of their childhood friends. The three of them ordered some dishes at a small tavern at the village entrance and chatted.

They had heard about Yang Sheng's situation, but neither of them mentioned it. Instead, they talked about their own experiences over the years.

After a few rounds of drinks, Da Gang suddenly slammed his glass on the table, looking utterly aggrieved.
