"Mom and Dad, I'm back." Song Qingmo returned home muttering to himself all the way.
"Son, you're back. Wash your hands and come for dinner." Mother Song greeted Song Qingmo warmly.
At the dinner table, Song's parents kept asking Song Qingmo how his military training was going. Although he had trained before, Song Qingmo was a degree darker today. Song's parents thought he had gone to dig coal in an African mine.
"Mom and Dad, are you polite? You actually called me a little black man." Song Qingmo raised his chopsticks and waved them on the dining table. This was too much!
"Okay, little black boy, stop making trouble and eat quickly. Aren't you tired after this day?" Song's father and mother said this almost in unison.
"I told you not to call me little black, and you still did it," Song Qingmo put down his chopsticks, turned around, and pretended not to want to look at his parents, but secretly glanced behind him. He wanted to see if they would show any guilt, but to his surprise, the two of them laughed even more happily.
Alas, the same person has a different fate, why? Heaven must treat me like this, send such parents to punish me! Song Qingmo cried in his heart.
"Today I saw Mu Hengshi, the son of the old Mu family. He is just like you. He was still useless during the military training, unlike you..." Mother Song accidentally said Mu Hengshi's name, and the dining table fell into a strange silence for a moment.
Song's father was the first to break the deadlock, tapping the table with his chopsticks and saying, "Well, let's stop chatting and continue eating."
"Mu Hengshi..." Song Qingmo recalled what Su Muxue had said to him at the banquet yesterday. He wanted to prepare himself to be able to compete with Mu Hengshi in the future, just in case. He wanted to grow up quickly, so that he wouldn't be helpless when someone retaliated against him.
"Dad, I want to learn formally in the company. I'm 16 years old now and have the ability to work on my own. Why don't you give me our company to practice with? A branch will do. If it's the head office, I'm afraid our family will go bankrupt and we'll have no choice but to wander around." After a brief silence, Song Qingmo decided to talk to his father.
Song's father looked at Song Qingmo, who had put away his usual cheerful demeanor and sat at the table with a serious expression. He looked into his eyes and saw the determination and resolve in them. Song's father sighed inwardly. His son was only 16 years old, but to them, Song Qingmo was still a child. He had wanted him to stay home and play for a few more years, but he hadn't expected this kid to be so anxious and want to be self-reliant...
"Oh, forget it. Okay then. From now on, you can come to the company to see me at noon or after class in the afternoon. But you still have to keep up with your studies. As for the branch office, you can go during the summer or winter vacation." Song's father clapped his hands on the table and said to Song Qingmo.
No, you think I don't want to give up? But the key is that reality won't allow it. "Dad, how about I finish high school knowledge ahead of time, then get a place in the recommended university, and then I can rest and work on the business at home?" Song Qingmo's discussion with his father was not going well. Mu Heng next door was in such a mess, he couldn't fall behind.
Seeing that Song Qingmo looked completely different from usual, Song's father guessed that something might have happened to this kid. He looked at Song's mother who was staring at Song Qingmo nervously, and didn't want to make his wife anxious, so Song's father stood up from the dining chair and took Song Qingmo to the study to talk about it.
Song Qingmo was taken to the study by his father. His father sat on the desk chair and just looked at him. Song Qingmo was nervous under his father's stare, and then his father said, "Did you encounter something? Did you offend anyone? Tell me, I will help you solve it."
Song Qingmo touched his hands first, then his legs, and then turned around with a guilty look on his face. He didn't really want to tell his father what Su Muxue had said to him, but he didn't want to lie, so he could only remain silent.
Song's father was able to gain a firm foothold among the wealthy and noble families, so he was naturally not stupid. Yesterday, Song Qingmo had been acting strangely, and then at the engagement party, Song's father also saw Mu Hengshi standing on the stage, leisurely watching Su's father being arrested, as if everything was under his control. No matter how powerful Mu Hengshi was, he must have had the help of the two people in the Mu family, so this matter was probably related to the Mu family. Judging from the situation, Old Mu must have wanted to give the control of the company to Mu Hengshi as soon as possible. His son was probably afraid that Mu Hengshi might retaliate against him in the future, so he was so nervous. He didn't know what had happened to his son. Did he know the truth?
"Xiao Mo, I know you are definitely worried that Mu Hengshi will take revenge on you, but it doesn't matter. No matter how capable a young boy is, can he compare to your father? Older people are more experienced. Don't worry, just do what you want to do, and don't worry about us. We are your protectors, and we don't need you to protect us." Song's father relaxed his frown while thinking, stood up from the chair, touched Song Qingmo's head, and said to Song Qingmo with a kind face.
"Dad..." Song Qingmo was no longer angry about his dad mocking him for being a black kid. He knew his parents were very good to him, but he had to bear the consequences of this "disaster" that he had caused himself. Song Qingmo tried hard to hold back his tears. He cried whenever he got emotional, and there was nothing he could do about it.
"No, I still want to grow up quickly, just promise me." Song Qingmo pulled his father's hand and shook it, saying, "Promise me, promise me." Song Qingmo looked at his father with this look.
