Chapter 96 Distress

"Mu Hengshi! Damn you!" Song Qingmo was so angry that his lungs were about to explode. He waved the walkie-talkie above his head, as if praying to the gods. Unfortunately, the Buddha didn't bless him, and shouting loudly was afraid of an avalanche.

Song Qing accepted his fate, took out his food expressionlessly, and slowly began to chew. He knew there was going to be a tough battle to fight. Mu Hengshi seemed to know what he had done and remained silent.

He didn't have much food in his stomach, but he didn't ask Song Qingmo for any. "Let's go to a sheltered place first." Mu Hengshi held up his hand to block the snowflakes flying towards Song Qingmo. "Let's wait here first. It will be easier for them to find us when they return."

"No need, just stay away from me." Song Qingmo looked at Mu Hengshi with disdain. Now Mu Hengshi was like a plague god to him.

"I'm sorry." Mu Hengshi lowered his head, trying to hide his emotions. He was no less exhausted than Song Qingmo, but it was all his own fault.

"I'll lead the way, and you follow me." Mu Hengshi started walking forward. There were a few pine and fir trees there, but they were very short.

There were still some cracks in the ice beside them, connecting to the deep gully that had blocked their path. The wind and snow whistled past, and the crunching sound of footsteps drowned out the crackling sound of the ice cracks expanding beside them.

Amidst the chaotic noises all around him, Mu Heng heard other unknown muffled sounds. He felt more and more uneasy. As he turned around, his pupils suddenly shrank. He quickly stretched out his hand to the person behind him and whispered, "Song Qingmo, give me your hand." It felt like déjà vu, as if he had experienced a similar scene before.

Song Qingmo also discovered the danger. He felt very upset. Why am I so unlucky? Saving my life is the most important thing. Putting down his grip, Song Qingmo quickly extended his hand towards Mu Hengshi.

"I give up." When Song Qingmo realized that his arms were too short to touch Mu Heng, his feet gradually became unstable. "Song Qingmo, don't move. I'll pull you up."

"Shut up! Get out of here! I'll figure it out myself." Song Qingmo shouted at Mu Heng. He was so light he didn't care about his posture. He tried to maintain his composure, lowered his body, and swung his backpack onto the snow, landing precisely in front of Mu Heng. He spread his upper body on the snowy surface and slowly pulled his lower body out of it, like a polar seal using its arms and legs to crawl across it. He stayed away from the collapsed area.

Mu Hengshi was watching him nervously from the side. He covered his head. What was wrong with him? Something in his mind wanted to break free. Don’t die, don’t leave me! Song Qingmo, Song Qingmo…

The crack was like a giant beast hiding in the snow, slowly opening its huge mouth and gradually swallowing the surroundings. Song Qingmo turned his head and looked, and his movements became faster. He wanted to capture him, but it was impossible.

"Mu Hengshi, throw me the rope from your backpack." The rope wasn't long, but it was still about three or four meters. Song Qingmo called out to Mu Hengshi. When he didn't answer, his heart skipped a beat. How could he have entrusted his life to Mu Hengshi? That man was constantly trying to hurt him. "Tsk, I miscalculated." If he hadn't been so busy, he would have wanted to pop some popcorn himself.

Mu Hengshi was still struggling with a splitting headache and the pain surging in his heart. When he heard Song Qingmo's call, he touched the zipper with his fingers trembling with pain and found the rope with difficulty.

Song Qingmo watched the ice mark creep closer and closer. He had died once before, but that time was voluntary, and it had saved his parents a lifetime of well-being, a price well worth paying for. In this new life, he'd thought he could live a carefree, idyllic life, but he'd been logged off so quickly. Suddenly, he didn't want to live anymore. What was the point of rebirth?

But Mu Heng would curse him even if he turned into a ghost. If he hadn't been there, he would have fallen behind. Song Qingmo cursed Mu Hengshi thousands of times in his heart. Just as he was about to die, a piece of rope fell in front of him. Song Qingmo looked up in confusion and saw Mu Hengshi's face twisted and hideous. He almost gritted his teeth and spit out the words slowly, "Song Qingmo, hurry up and grab it."

Holding onto a glimmer of hope, Song Qingmo clenched his fists in disbelief. Mu Hengshi looked deeply at his expression, smiling bitterly in his heart. Dull pain invaded his limbs and bones. He would never give up on him, let alone abandon him. The ice crack came to Song Qingmo's feet, and Song Qingmo's place had collapsed.

"Song Qingmo! Hold on tight." Mu Hengshi held the rope tightly with his hands. Song Qingmo had already fallen to the edge of the ice crack, but he held the rope tightly to prevent himself from falling. He looked down and saw a huge crack appearing on the ground.

Mu Hengshi was feeling unwell, and his hands, which were holding the rope, began to tremble and lose strength after not resting for a long time. Song Qingmo didn't know whether to move or not. After a moment of hesitation, he decided to save himself. After all, the rope seemed to have dropped a little further.

Mu Hengshi slowly approached the crack, pulling the rope and wrapping it around his hand. His hand was already bleeding. Song Qingmo's condition wasn't much better. He endured the pain and thrust his hand into the crack to absorb the force. The tiny ice spike pierced his skin, but it worked well, and the bloody hand was worth it.

Just as one of his hands was about to touch the ground above, there was a cracking sound. Song Qingmo was devastated. He looked up and saw that the place that had not collapsed before had begun to sink again. As he fell, he saw Mu Hengshi standing above him.

A thousand alpaca horses were galloping through his mind. "Mu Hengshi..." Before he could finish his words, Song Qingmo fell down with the landslide. His eyes closed involuntarily, as if his body's senses were deprived.

He felt everything around him rush by at a rapid speed. When he hit the ground, he was still dazed. After a long time, his mind finally cleared up. He was surprised to find that the ground was not hard at all, but rather soft. However, his internal organs were still displaced by the impact, and the pain was excruciating.

He struggled to turn over and finally realized why the ground underneath was soft. It was because Mu Hengshi had also fallen down and used him as a cushion. Song Qingmo was affected by the feeling of weightlessness in the air and did not hear Mu Hengshi's shouts for him or the fact that he jumped down and hugged him without hesitation.

Mu Heng fell from a height of nearly two buildings while holding Song Qingmo. Even with a layer of snow covering his back, he was still seriously injured. His back was also scratched by some small branches.

When Song Qingmo struggled to prop Mu Hengshi up, he felt a warmth on his palm. Upon closer inspection, he found that it was blood. He turned over Mu Hengshi's body and discovered that his back was covered with wounds and blood was flowing from the corners of his mouth.

Song Qingmo was suddenly at a loss. "Mu Hengshi, Mu Hengshi, please don't die! It was you who caused me to fall, and I'm not dead yet, and you're still ahead of me. What's going on?" Song Qingmo patted Mu Hengshi's face several times. But there was no response. Mu Hengshi's face was still pale, and he was unconscious with his head drooping.

"Tsk, what a trouble." Song Qingmo had no choice but to carry the Wood Soul Stone on his back. Fortunately, Mu Hengshi was not stupid, and the supplies in his backpack fell down and were not lost, so they would not starve to death first.

Song Qingmo slowly explored the ice valley while carrying Mu Heng on his back. What was originally a deep ravine in the valley had now become an ice-blue prisoner's cage due to the ice and snow. Song Qingmo was unlucky and fell into it.
