Chapter 31 Follow Me Somewhere

As Mr. Huang looked at the dishes that were colorful, fragrant and delicious, he felt his stomach start to stir.

Chen Zhizhou couldn't help but be amazed.

“Eat quickly!”

Gu Qing brought the last dish to the table, looked at Chen Zhizhou with his clever eyes, blinked, and said softly: "Let me let you taste my cooking today and see how it goes!"

Mr. Huang was the first one who couldn't wait and picked up a piece of Dongpo pork and put it in his mouth.

You hardly need to chew it, it melts in your mouth, and the fragrance lingers on your teeth and cheeks after eating it, making you want to savor it again and again.

Seeing this, Chen Zhizhou couldn't help but take a piece, and squinted his eyes because it was so delicious.

This Dongpo pork is fat but not greasy, and the taste is just right!

Looking at the two people feasting on their meal, Gu Qing smiled softly, "How is it?"

Chen Zhizhou nodded, and Mr. Huang didn't even have time to speak. All that could be heard was the sound of him chewing voraciously.

"Mr. Huang, please eat slowly."

Gu Qing laughed and caught a glimpse of Chen Zhizhou out of the corner of his eye.

His eating style seemed elegant, but in fact he was eating one chopstick after another, and was not inferior to Mr. Huang at all.

After finishing the meal in no time, Mr. Huang burped without caring about his image.

"Hiccup~ So satisfying! So satisfying!"

After saying that, he rolled his eyes at Chen Zhizhou unhappily.

Why didn’t I realize that this guy can eat so much before!

I had only eaten ten pieces of the Dongpo pork before Chen Zhizhou devoured it all.

Chen Zhizhou turned his head away and pretended not to see Mr. Huang's resentful look.

"Mr. Huang, you've had enough to eat and drink. Why don't you come with me to a place to help digest your food?"

Gu cleared his throat and stated the purpose of this trip.

Mr. Huang had an expression that had been predictable, "I knew you two were both as clever as a monkey!"

Gu Qing chuckled and invited Mr. Huang into the carriage, while he sat outside with Chen Zhizhou.

After the snow, the weather became colder day by day. Even though Gu Qing dressed warmly, she still couldn't withstand the chilly weather. The biting cold wind blew past her, and she shivered all over.

"A-choo~"

After she sneezed again, Chen Zhizhou finally couldn't help it, and he held the carriage tightly with both hands, turned his head and looked at Gu Qing to persuade

He said, "You are too frail to withstand the cold wind outside. Come in quickly!"

Gu Qing wanted to refuse, but unexpectedly he suddenly released one hand and covered her head with it.

"Be good, I'd be heartbroken if I got you frozen."

His expression was sincere and his voice was gentle, just like a deeply caring fool.

Gu Qing's mind was shaken and his cheeks felt slightly hot.

"Go in now! If you refuse to obey, I'll tell Mother when we get home and tell her not to let you out again!"

Gu Qing was already distracted by him, and upon hearing this, she nodded obediently and got into the carriage in a daze.

Inside the car, Mr. Huang was originally resting with his eyes closed when a cool breeze blew past, causing him to open his eyes out of cold. He happened to see Gu Qing coming in.

His eyes lingered on Gu Qing and Chen Zhizhou, and after a while he finally managed a playful smile.

"I really didn't realize that kid Chen is such a gentle and considerate person."

Gu Qing was amused by his winking and lowered her head even more shyly.

The carriage swayed and it was unknown how long it had been going. The whistling sound of the wind outside gradually died down, and instead painful groans were heard from both sides.

Chen Zhizhou looked at the child kneeling on the ground begging, his brows furrowed, and a trace of pity appeared in his eyes.

However, he knew that it was not the right time yet, so he could only pretend not to see it and turned to remind Mr. Huang behind him: "Mr. Huang, we're here!"

Hearing this, Gu Qing opened his eyes and was shocked.

Whether it will succeed depends on this time!

She turned her head to look at Mr. Huang, only to see him trying to get out of the car.

When he lifted the car curtain, the scene before him shocked him.

A ragged child was kneeling on the ground, without even a pair of straw sandals. His hands and feet were red and swollen from the cold, and he was kowtowing to Mr. Huang and the other two.

"Master, please be kind and save my mother!"

He was sobbing uncontrollably, and in the blink of an eye, a bloody hole had appeared on his forehead.

Even so, he still had no intention of stopping!

Old Huang frowned, hurried forward to help him up, took off his shoes, and bent down to put them on the child.

"Little kid, you just said you wanted to save your mother. What happened to your mother?"

The child refused Mr. Huang's shoes with a look of panic, but in the end he couldn't resist and had to put them on.

He bit his lip and looked at the pair of shoes that didn't fit him but were comfortable and warm. He couldn't hold back his tears any longer and they fell in a crackling sound. He choked and said, "My mother is dying. I don't have money to hire a doctor for her."

"I beg you three gentlemen to be kind and help me save my mother. I, I can do a lot of things..."

As he said this, he was about to kneel down in front of the three people again.

These days, he tried every possible way, but his mother's condition showed no improvement. The family had long since lost all the money left, and they still owed a lot.

If this continues, mother will really be in trouble!

"Don't cry."

Looking at his pitiful appearance, Mr. Huang couldn't help but think of his parents. His chest felt like something was cutting into it, and it hurt terribly.

"I'm the doctor. Take us there now. Maybe we can save your mother!"

The child was so happy that he was at a loss for words. He trotted along leading the three of them to his home.

Along the way, Mr. Huang and his two companions met many families in the same situation as this child.

They all had family members who were sick, and they sold everything they had and spent all their money to treat the illness, but to no avail.

In the end, you will end up losing both your money and your life.

“It’s right here!”

The child pointed to a small, dilapidated thatched hut.

Mr. Huang and the other two followed him in. The room was so cramped and narrow that it made them feel suffocated.

"Dog...is that you?"

A weak voice came from the bed.

The child, called Gouzi, immediately ran over, grabbed the emaciated woman, who was now nothing but skin and bones, and said excitedly, "Mom, you're saved! Finally, a doctor is willing to see you!"

Hearing this, the woman on the bed did not smile at all, but instead looked worried.

"Forget it! Gouzi, I know my illness is incurable."

Gu Qing watched silently the whole process and only spoke at this moment.

"Don't worry, sister-in-law, we don't charge any money. If we can cure you, all we need is a sip of water from you."

"Just a sip of water?"

The woman's face was full of suspicion.

"Mom, just take a look!"

With tears in his eyes, Gouzi shook the woman's arm and begged, "Just think of it as your son. He's still young! He can't live without his mother."

His words made the woman sad, so she stopped insisting.

Old Huang came forward, reached out and pinched the woman's pulse, checking it carefully.

Everyone was silent and focused, not daring to make the slightest noise, for fear of distracting him and delaying the diagnosis of the illness.
