Chapter 51: Rejuvenation of the Cultivation World (51% complete)
The class showed great enthusiasm for the new transfer student.
"I believe it, we're definitely just random NPCs!" the student in front of him lamented. "Four faces with Nuwa-level graduation project-quality features have appeared, why is my model so ordinary!"
Gong Yu frantically shook Su Xiaoyao's arm, managing to whisper but scream, "Ahhh, they're so good-looking! It's definitely the main characters who transferred! That boy in front even said he wanted to sit behind you!"
"Cough." Su Xiaoyao tried her best not to choke on her saliva.
She blinked repeatedly to make sure she wasn't seeing things.
Shen Suqi smiled and waved to her, mouthing, "We've come to find you."
Xiao Tingyuan, Jiang Yun, and Helian Yi all sported unusual short hairstyles, and their three pairs of eyes stared intently at her, making her feel increasingly guilty.
Especially when faced with the three parts sadness, three parts dissatisfaction, and four parts resentment in the eyes of Shang Jiangyun and Xiao Tingyuan, a chill inexplicably rose in the mid-May sky.
Having understood the emotions conveyed by their pie chart, Su Xiaoyao lowered her head, hunched her shoulders, and adopted a repentant posture.
She looked up at the sky and then at the ground, but she just couldn't bring herself to meet their gaze.
However, this did not appease his friends.
"Sure, there's an empty seat right behind Su Xiaoyao." The homeroom teacher readily agreed to the new student's small request.
Just as she was about to arrange things for the other three new classmates, she saw them all walk toward Su Xiaoyao.
“‘Looking forward to your shining moment, sister.’” As he passed by the seats, Xiao Tingyuan said quietly without looking to the side.
A single sentence from someone left everyone around confused, but Su Xiaoyao blushed deeply after hearing it.
Oh dear, I should have known better than to make such a boast so early on.
"Heh, or rather, a moment of silence." Without his sword and banner, Jiang Yun still exuded an imposing aura, even more so than usual, as he stood with his arms crossed.
He rarely uttered sarcastic remarks, a rare occurrence for someone as aloof and self-possessed as him.
Those two sentences left Su Xiaoyao speechless.
Su Xiaoyao tilted her head and secretly peeked at them, thinking to herself that they could take over the Black and White Impermanence just because they had a Soul-Chasing Lock in their hands. The mournful aura emanating from their bodies was even more terrifying than ghostly energy.
Ultimately, guilt prevailed over the urge to complain.
Su Xiaoyao clearly felt Gong Yu poking her with the pen cap, but she didn't dare to turn her head to look at her. She was lost in thought, clutching the talisman in her school uniform pocket.
Is she in the real world now? If so, why were Jiang Yun and the others able to come? It's impossible for the two worlds to communicate with each other, otherwise both worlds would have been in chaos long ago.
Then there is only one possibility—
She thought she was home, but it was just an illusion.
She really can't go back; she'll never see her old friends again.
Having gained hope only to face despair again, even Su Xiaoyao, who prides herself on being carefree, couldn't accept such a shock for a while.
Disappointment and sadness blurred her eyes.
Su Xiaoyao squeezed her eyes to stop the tears from falling.
She turned her head slightly to look at Gong Yu, who had a worried expression on her face.
But if all of this is fake, why are Gong Yu and Su Xiaogua so real?
The new student not only didn't introduce himself, but also naturally chose a seat and sat down. The homeroom teacher thought it was no big deal, since he was just temporarily registered to take the college entrance examination, so it didn't matter whether he introduced himself or not.
With that thought in mind, she let them go, saying "Let's study on our own" and sitting down at the back of the classroom to wait for the students to come and ask her questions.
Su Xiaoyao spent some time composing herself, and once her thoughts returned to normal, she felt a chilling sense of unease, as if she were sitting on pins and needles.
It was the transition from spring to summer, and the weather was hot and humid. The old classroom didn't have air conditioning, and she broke out in a cold sweat.
The appearance of Jiang Yun and the others proved that this could not possibly be the real world. She was actually trapped in the illusion and couldn't extricate herself, which dragged on until they came to find her.
Is this the power of the Heavenly Dao Ancestor, surpassing everyone else?
She had been thinking about it for a long time and was feeling very upset; all she wanted now was an answer.
The long self-study period became incredibly agonizing. She turned around three times a minute on average. Gong Yu noticed her unusual behavior and handed her a note asking what was wrong, but received no response.
Su Xiaoyao's attention was entirely focused on the four people behind her, her eyes filled with an ambiguous and unreadable emotion.
Gong Yu glanced back unhappily, her appreciation for her good looks turning into jealousy that her friend's attention had been stolen.
She narrowed her eyes, a wicked thought forming in her mind.
Su Xiaoyao was sitting uncomfortably when suddenly a coat was placed over her back.
She was taken aback; it was Gong Yu's school uniform jacket.
Gong Yu smiled and said, "I feel a little hot, so I'm giving you an extra layer of clothing."
"ah?"
Su Xiaoyao's small face was filled with great confusion. She didn't understand the other party's mysterious actions, and in an instant, all her anxiety and disappointment were washed away by the question marks.
Gong Yu sneered, glanced at her, and said nothing.
But Su Xiaoyao unexpectedly calmed down.
This is something Gong Yu does when she's being temperamental.
She was sweating from the heat, and a warm feeling flowed through her heart.
She could no longer ignore the seemingly unreal "Gong Yu," and leaned closer with a smile: "Are you jealous?"
"No." Gong Yu replied with an air of nobility and aloofness.
Su Xiaoyao smiled sweetly: "Oh—no—"
The last syllable was drawn out, full of teasing.
Gong Yu and she were fooling around together until the homeroom teacher reminded them to stop.
After playing around for a while, Su Xiaoyao felt much more relaxed, although tension still dominated her emotions.
She endured until the end of get out of class, then suddenly stood up and walked out of the classroom, her hands and feet moving in unison.
Su Xiaogua turned around from the table in front of her to look at Gong Yu. The two exchanged a glance and sensed that something was wrong, so they immediately followed her.
After the three of them had their seats vacated, the four new transfer students also left.
A murmur of discussion arose in the classroom, the focus naturally being on the new transfer student.
The mundane life of senior year of high school suddenly boils over—
As the seven people left one after another, the scene in the classroom seemed to freeze at that moment, as if a pause button had been pressed.

Author's Note: I originally planned to end the illusion in one chapter, but I worked too late and didn't finish. To ensure the plot's continuity and avoid ending abruptly, I'm releasing a small portion today, and more tomorrow. ORZ
